00:00It's June, but we are already planning and getting ahead of winter because what we saw
00:05over more than a decade of Conservative failure is that every winter came with a winter crisis
00:12and every winter almost came as a surprise to Conservative governments that didn't plan ahead.
00:16This urgent and emergency care plan will make a real difference with £450 million worth of
00:23investment. We'll be opening 40 new same-day emergency and urgent treatment centres to help
00:31ease pressure on A&E. We'll be deploying 500 more ambulances to improve response times.
00:37And for mental health patients who often find themselves quite inappropriately in a noisy,
00:44busy, terrifying sometimes emergency department when they're going through a mental health crisis,
00:49we're going to create new mental health assessment centres. Taken together, this is going to make
00:54a real difference, easing pressure on busy emergency departments and making sure that we restore
01:01that founding promise of the NHS, which was broken under the Conservatives, that the NHS will always
01:07be there for you when you need it. What I would ask people to do is judge me as I'm judging myself
01:13and holding the NHS to account on, is delivering year-on-year improvements. Can people see
01:18over the course of this Labour government things getting better? Because we know that people
01:24elected us on one word, which was change, and we've got to deliver that change and people need to feel
01:30it and experience it. And I think so far, we've been in less than a year now, I feel sometimes the
01:37same frustration that patients and the public feel. Changes has begun. Is everyone feeling it yet?
01:44No, there's still so much more to do. It does take time, but day by day, week by week, step by step,
01:51things are improving. And I hope that what people hear from me and other members of the government
01:55is reporting back on real progress, the difference we're making, but not a hint of complacency about
02:01how much more there is still to do.
