00:00With the 28.9% pay rise that we gave to resident doctors, this government was
00:05showing we were different from our predecessors, that we recognised the
00:09pressures that many of these early career doctors were facing in their
00:13pockets, and they've had the highest pay rise in the public sector two years in
00:17a row. I don't regret that. What I do think is outrageous is that after that
00:22the BMA have still gone out on strike action, inflicting pain and misery on
00:28patients and threatening to set back all the progress we've been making in the
00:31NHS. So my message to patients today is we are pulling out all the stops in the
00:36coming days to minimise disruption, but there will still be disruption.
