00:00The Selangor government has unveiled a 130.42 million ringgit economic package
00:06in light of the economic fallout from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
00:11The package, announced by Menteri Besar Amiruddin Shari, seeks to bolster the state's food security,
00:17reduce the people's cost of living, control inflation, boost public transport uptake,
00:23and distribute targeted aid to the needy.
00:25Some 50 million ringgit will be allocated to boost Selangor's food stockpile,
00:31comprising 25 million ringgit from the state government
00:33and 25 million ringgit from the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation.
00:39To support farmers and fishermen, 25 million ringgit will be allocated
00:43to cover the rise in fuel costs or agricultural input.
00:47The state government will also give out 100 ringgit Kita Selangor vouchers on a monthly basis
00:53for a period of six months to 50,000 eligible people in Selangor.
00:59To encourage public transport use, 50,000 Selangor folk will receive 30 ringgit a month
01:04until the end of the year, which can be spent on on-demand vans, buses, or trains.
01:10Free breakfast will also be provided at all 873 government schools in the state,
01:16with local councils tasked with spearheading this initiative.
01:19Schools will receive the finances needed for this from August.
