00:01We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Prince Harry here and I am very pleased to say that I'm also
00:08joined by Gautham Raju who is an instrumental advocate for Movember and you were somebody who was really important in
00:17helping bring Prince Harry to your cause. You've been able to speak to him in the past, what's he like?
00:23He's amazing, he's incredible, he's a huge advocate for mental health and he's been a huge striver in pushing for
00:29policy change on mental health as well so it's fantastic to have him here today talking about dads.
00:33Yeah well you're a dad yourself, you've got four year old Remy here and also of course two year old
00:38Edie who's just a little bit more camera shy but Remy, what's your dad like?
00:45You don't want to say anything?
00:46I did get something beforehand I should say that apparently you're excellent with piggybacks, is he the best piggyback man
00:53in the world?
00:54I think he's a bit shy.
00:55Oh maybe, he's a bit shy, he's gone a bit shy.
00:57But how have you found your experiences as a dad and how has that sort of really wrapped into your
01:04cause with Movember?
01:05It's been the most joyful, incredible experience of my life and that's what today's about, it's about celebrating fatherhood in
01:11Australia, modern fatherhood.
01:12But modern fatherhood has changed and what today is also about is getting the support systems in place for dads
01:18and so when they're struggling we're able to reach out to them and give them the support that they need.
01:22Yeah, and do you think that having somebody that is this high profile really does support that cause?
01:28It's huge, I mean if you just look around the amount of media that are here, the amount of politicians
01:32that are here, the policy makers that are in the room today, we're hoping that the launch of this report
01:37will spark serious change and policy reform that will improve outcomes for dads.
01:41Now tell us a little bit more about this report because it's found quite some alarming statistics when it comes
01:46to new dads and what they're asked about, how they're going.
01:50Yeah, so one of the things that comes out of the report is the majority of dads that are expecting
01:54or post or just become new dads are asked about their mental health and a big ask that we have
02:00today is for when you're going through the experience of becoming a dad that you're asked about your mental health,
02:07how you're going and so if you are struggling we can make sure the health system wraps around you and
02:11gives you the support that you need.
02:12Now, Prince Harry might be a royal but it's a universal experience, fatherhood, isn't it?
02:17And he is a dad after all as well.
02:20Yeah.
02:20What do you think he's going to tell everybody gathered here today?
02:24I think it's going to be about when you are struggling, when you do need to support, reach out to
02:29the people that love you and that care about you and reach out to the practitioners and clinicians who can
02:33be those supporters that you need to get you the help that you need.
02:36Yeah, and you've got a couple of Western Bulldogs players, dads, new dads themselves as well I understand.
02:41Yeah, exactly.
02:42So we've got four footy players that are going to be here today that are new dads that are going
02:45to meet Prince and engage with him.
02:47We also have the Wiggles that are going to perform for the families that are here today.
02:50It's going to be a really beautiful day and a beautiful celebration.
02:53Gautham, just in case you haven't heard the Wiggles enough.
02:56Yeah, exactly.
02:57The Wiggles have been the last four years of my life.
02:59So, Remy, you're a big Wiggles fan?
03:02Do we love the Wiggles?
03:05Okay.
03:06Okay, I think he's now playing hide and seek with dad but that's absolutely fantastic and obviously this is going
03:13to be such a thrill.
03:14Yeah.
03:14Do you think everybody's going to feel the same thing to just have that brush with royalty but at the
03:19same time listen to a really good cause?
03:21I think so.
03:22I think it's going to be a really special, beautiful moment where we have families and celebrities and politicians all
03:28coming together around supporting Australian dads.
