00:00I'm delighted to announce the inaugural Invictus Australia Sports Festival presented by our friends at ACCO and working with the
00:09Invictus Games Foundation will take place later this year in Perth.
00:13More to come on who's attending and which sports will be selected will be working hard to create more opportunities
00:20for sports for recovery beyond the games themselves.
00:24Speaking of which, the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 is fast approaching and, incredibly, Invictus Australia have had a record 416
00:34expressions of interest in wounded, injured and sick at once.
00:38A clear message that the games and the alternative sporting opportunities provided by Invictus Australia are needed now more than
00:47ever.
00:48The team at the Invictus Games Foundation, as we speak, are in San Diego reviewing their bid to host Invictus
00:55Games in 2029, which were announced this summer between the USA, Denmark and South Korea.
01:00Plus, we're already seeing a strong interest in a number of nations in hosting the games in 2031.
01:07There may even be an expression of interest for a return down under.
01:15I am, of course, impartial.
01:18I have no sway or say in where the games go.
01:21So Michael put that brown paper envelope stuffed with 50s away.
01:24But better yet, buy a gang a beer immediately afterwards.
01:34Jokes aside, wherever the games go, the mission remains the same.
01:38To support recovery, to rebuild lives and to ensure no one walks that path alone.
01:45So, to everyone in this room, partners, supporters, advocates, thank you.
01:52Thank you for believing in this mission.
01:55Thank you for standing with this community.
01:57And thank you for helping us ensure that the light we turned on in 2014 and reignited here in Australia
02:05in 2018 continues to shine brighter than ever.
