00:00Get excited for the Leeds Caribbean and African Centre, the One Love Showcase extravaganza,
00:08which will support the amazing Jamaican Society Awareness and Fundraiser this Sunday, the 19th of April from 3 o'clock
00:16to 6.
00:16It's called the One Love Talent Showcase and it's there to be an awareness and fundraiser for Hurricane Melissa
00:24and the wonderful Jamaican Society will be facilitating those much needed funds to go to the people that need it
00:31most.
00:32But what to expect? It's going to be fun, it's going to be glitz, it's going to bring the community
00:36together.
00:37You're going to have comedy, you're going to have Lovely Lane there, there's going to be DJs, singers, dancers, you
00:43know, a whole cabaret.
00:44Me and my sister are going to be doing A Thousand Years and we're both going to be singing but
00:50I'm mostly on guitar.
00:55This is also in terms of showing that we're going to make a contribution towards the relief for Hurricane Melissa
01:04that happened in the Caribbean recently.
01:07We don't have that many events where the community get a chance to come together and support one another
01:12and to showcase our young people's talents.
01:15I personally think it's an amazing event and it's open to all age groups.
01:21There's going to be children from the age of three up to over 50s singing, dancing and doing all the
01:29things that they enjoy doing.
01:32I'm looking forward to the event, I'm looking forward to one of the younger ones playing the cello,
01:38the older ones singing, the choir, the house choir.
01:41I think it's really important that we have events like this because it helps other countries and it can help
01:46people and stuff.
01:48Yeah, it helps raise money for people in need so they can get things that they need.
01:53We're doing a dance to Ard Fet and we've been practising it like a lot and we think it's going
02:00to be quite good.
02:01We can't forget the other ladies which is Elaine, Maureen and Marsha.
02:06They came together with Elaine.
02:08So what led to the Lovely One Love sort of like venue was the amazing Zumba-thon.
02:15So that was done back in March and that was led by the lovely Marsha being supported by Elaine and
02:20Maureen.
02:21And these ladies and gents just get together for fun, for exercise and they raised a wonderful amount.
02:28We're not that scared because I've done shows before but she's probably a bit nervous.
02:35Comedy for me isn't just about a laugh, it brings people together, it can help lift up mental health.
02:40But in this particular situation, raise serious, wonderful awareness and get people we wouldn't usually connect with to come on
02:48board.
02:48And most importantly, network and have a great time.
02:52And if you want a good laugh, well, and a little bit of panto, you're in for a good time.
