00:00Do you think J.D. Vance was the right person to be in that delegation negotiating with Iran?
00:06Or do you think that there could be a better strategy in place in order to try and see this
00:12through diplomatically?
00:14I personally thought that at this stage, when the two sides were poles apart,
00:21perhaps the U.S. delegation and the Iran delegation, for that matter,
00:26could have been represented by their respective foreign ministers.
00:33And that would have been better because they would have hammered out all the details
00:38which are required to be done before senior or delegation at that level to be represented.
00:45So in my view, you are absolutely right that if a vice president could have avoided coming to Pakistan
00:54and instead, if the two delegations had met at the working level, that would have been better
01:00because stakes are very high with the participation of vice president J.D. Vance.
01:07And then on the other hand, if you look from the other angle,
01:13perhaps his participation would have been beneficial for the talks itself
01:21since given his seniority, he would have decided there and then about the issues.
01:27But I think the Americans were not really, though both sides, I still strongly feel
01:33that both sides are willing or they want to, they're not willing to restart the war.
01:40But the way the U.S. raised the issue of enrichment
01:45and then Iran was not willing to concede on the Strait of Hormuz
01:50unless the situation in Lebanon was taken care of.
01:55So all these, you know, are very complex issues and they're interlinked.
01:59So unfortunately, though Pakistan tried its best to also come up with some formula,
02:08but unfortunately things did not move in that direction.
