00:00So if you look between 20 and 30, there are four teams who will be on the clock
00:05for the second time, Dallas, Cleveland, Kansas City, and Miami.
00:12So I want to ask you a general overview question.
00:16If you are one of these teams who knows, hey, I got something coming to me later,
00:22are you almost saying, forget need?
00:25I'm just best player available.
00:28People don't care about anything else when I come up with one of those first selections.
00:33No, when you draft in those positions, Kevin, yeah, best available, that has to start.
00:41I mean, that's the bottom line, right?
00:44You know, you just don't take the best available player and he's going to sit, what,
00:48on the pine for a year?
00:50I hate that mentality.
00:52I want to go and fill as many needs as I can with the best player available on the board.
00:58And if they're not there, then I'd rather trade out or get multiple, you know, mid-round draft picks
01:04for those players that I could develop and build out the roster.
01:08We're in a win now type of mentality.
01:11So, you know, it's a different mindset than, you know, 20 years ago where you draft the best available player
01:18and whether you have a spot for them or not doesn't matter because you have a resource.
01:23I always believe now you draft the players that could start immediately in positions of need
01:30to help your team this year and not beyond.
01:34And that's just the way it plays out.
01:36You mentioned Dallas.
01:37They have, what, 12 and 29 or whatever their position is.
01:42I think Dallas still needs defensive help in the secondary.
01:45And, again, we'll see what they do.
01:48But, you know, we have the offensive pieces in place for Dallas.
01:52They have multiple needs on the defensive side of the football.
01:55So, for me, I believe, Joe, we have a somewhat consensus eight blue chip-ish players in this draft.
02:12It's not a perfect consensus, but I would say, in no order, Mendoza, Reese, Love, Styles, Tate,
02:25Bailey, Bain, and Downs.
02:28When I look right now, people can say, oh, what about Mansour Delaney?
02:32What about Francis Mawaga?
02:34I don't feel like those guys are discussed the way the other eight guys are discussed.
02:40So, when I see some of the mock drafts, and I am not attacking any mock drafter.
02:45I've done it myself here on the show.
02:47We'll probably do it again next week.
02:48I promise.
02:49When I see a team like Arizona take Francis Mawaga at three,
02:54that feels like a disaster.
02:56That feels like a total disaster to me, having the third pick and not coming away with a blue chip
03:04-ish player.
03:06I've heard rumors about Cleveland now, Joe, taking Caden Proctor at six.
03:14Caden Proctor really interests me.
03:16I adore that he caught the ball more than once at Alabama.
03:21But Caden Proctor being selected at six because Cleveland says, I must, must, must, must draft offensive line.
03:31I don't know if I love that.
03:33Do you look at this Cleveland roster and think, oh, they only have one thing to fix?
03:37I don't know.
03:39And I know people think they're going to take Tate if he's there.
03:41Yeah, but if he's not there, and David Bailey's there, take David Bailey.
03:48Like, I, to me, it's what makes Kansas City very interesting at nine, Joe.
03:53But I just, do you think, would you rather this team take Caden Proctor at six or take Arvel Reese?
03:59I think I'd rather see them take Arvel Reese at six.
04:04Well, here's the thing about Cleveland, Kevin.
04:07You're going to say, and I know where your mentality is, you know, hey, you know, take defense, and then
04:13you could always ship out Miles Garrett and get the three drafts.
04:16Yeah, I mean, it works nicely.
04:17You know, a couple of houses in South Jersey on the market for Miles.
04:22There we go.
04:23Get them out of Dodge, right?
04:25We restructure the contract, get the two or three first-round selections, and we'll keep rebuilding, and the hamster wheel
04:32goes round and round.
04:33I get that.
04:34But if you're serious about Cleveland ever contending for a playoff berth, they need wide receiver help.
04:42I mean, and what better way than to get potentially Cornell Tate, the Ohio State Buckeye, in Cleveland, right down
04:50the road?
04:51I mean, come on now.
04:52They need to help out.
04:54They have Fannin.
04:56They have Quinshawn Junkins coming off injury.
04:58Hopefully, he's the guy.
04:59They have Dylan Sampson.
05:01They have nice pieces, and they did a great job of drafting defense last year.
05:06So, again, I don't like that mentality.
05:09I don't want them to go defense again.
05:11I want them to address the offensive side of the ball, and then they can grow potentially with Shador Sanders
05:18and Mankin, now the new head coach.
