00:00Can we talk, Tom, about their odds for a second?
00:04So pretty much half the next closest team
00:07is what the Rams are booked at to win the Super Bowl.
00:11Do you, and interestingly enough,
00:15the second and third teams that appear out of the NFC
00:19are actually from the NFC West, right?
00:21The Seahawks and the Niners.
00:24Again, I don't think either of us are there yet on June 8th.
00:27It's not who we are.
00:27And I think that's a good thing personally, but, you know.
00:32But do you think it is possible?
00:35Because I know that you're someone
00:36who will sometimes close the door on these things.
00:38It is possible that you end up thinking
00:40there's value on the Rams to win the Super Bowl.
00:45You know, that's a great question.
00:46And, you know, a part of me would want to see training camp,
00:51and it really comes down to the health of the 49ers.
00:54And that's something I would want to strongly
00:57to take into consideration when it comes to the 49ers.
01:00And everyone's going to talk about the Seahawks
01:02and the Super Bowl hangover, and, you know,
01:04this, that, the other thing.
01:05Are they going to be able to repeat
01:07what was somewhat of a magical season?
01:09But really, the 49ers are that interesting piece
01:13in the division, because they have a lot
01:15of international travel this year.
01:16They have a lot of, you know, away games.
01:18They're going to Mexico City.
01:19They're going to Australia.
01:19They also have a lot of injuries.
01:21So if the 49ers aren't able to kind of tread water
01:24and withstand what is a difficult schedule,
01:27just in terms of travel, they may just be
01:29a lost cause this year.
01:30They just may be a lost team and would really put Seattle
01:33as their biggest competition.
01:34And that's what I think it will come down to.
01:36If Seattle can at least be good enough
01:38and not have a Super Bowl hangover,
01:40they will be the Rams' biggest competition,
01:42not the 49ers.
01:43So I can't get there on the Rams yet,
01:45but if you tell me that the 49ers are going to struggle
01:48and we're going to have these constant conversations
01:49about Kittle and CMC and what we're doing with Purdy
01:53and all these things, even though I'm a believer
01:55in that offense, if they just can't stay healthy
01:56and the schedule's too much, the Rams may have
01:59a cleaner path than we realize.
02:01You know, I think the way the division is set up
02:10suggests it should be a challenge.
02:13I do wonder if maybe the best way to back the Rams
02:21is fading that notion.
02:23They're even money right now, Tom, to win a division.
02:25The West.
02:27Should they really be half of everybody else
02:30to win a Super Bowl, but not minus money
02:32to win a division?
02:35Like Buffalo's minus money to win a division
02:37with the team that represented the AFC in the Super Bowl
02:40within their division.
02:42So, you know, I think Seattle's going to be a team
02:45that people are, maybe people like you and I,
02:49inclined to fade, right?
02:52Massive pop-off year against the odds,
02:56now positioned to be, oh, this is who they are, right?
02:59I don't know, again, right?
03:01I can see you smiling.
03:02I know exactly, right?
03:03We're seeing that in the same.
03:04And the Niners and their injuries have just,
03:07I mean, it's who they are.
03:08We know who, right?
03:09Like, there's no reason to believe that Niner stuff
03:11gets better after a legitimate postseason run, right?
03:16Christian McCaffrey, you want to dive into the fantasy world,
03:18is undraftable, in my opinion,
03:20off of the workload that he had.
03:22I'm just being, right?
03:23Like, their big move was getting always injured Mike Evans.
03:26Mm-hmm.
03:27Okay, right?
03:29So, I, it's interesting.
03:33I, I also think there's a world where the Rams
03:37are tempting to bet, right?
03:39That we have this all-in superpower
03:43whose numbers will only grow shorter.
03:47And, right, because is anybody,
03:50is anybody going to predict this team to miss the playoffs?
03:54Betting them is one thing, right?
03:56Like, oh, it's such a big number, how could I not?
03:58But miss the playoffs, not really.
04:02You know, if, if Stafford stays out there, right?
04:06Like, I, I think there's a world the Rams become
04:09a, a, a more than tempting team,
04:13despite the number.
04:14Now, maybe not, right?
04:16At the end of the day, the, the other side of that coin, Tom,
04:20is everybody other than LA has value
04:23because look at the LA number,
04:25which I think is also a reasonable thought.
04:27It, it is true.
04:28And, you know, this is one of the situations where,
04:31you know, we, we just flashed the,
04:32a win total of 11 and a half.
04:34If we do see the Seahawks take a step back
04:36and the 49ers go through everything,
04:39there's a chance that the Rams fall under their win total,
04:42but they still comfortably win the division.
04:43They could win the division by, you know, two games,
04:46just because Seattle sits at, you know,
04:47maybe nine, maybe 10 wins.
04:49But to say that the Rams are clearly better,
04:54I think is fair, but I'm just,
04:56I'm just not there yet.
04:57I can't get there at the beginning of June,
04:59knowing that there's so much to come.
05:00We got to remember last year during training camp,
05:03Stafford and the back injuries
05:05and the treatment that he was apparently receiving
05:07at training camp was this big mystery.
05:10And he had a fantastic year last year as the Rams did.
05:12He came out flying and it was never an issue,
05:13but those things are only going to come up more and more
05:16considering where they are positioned
05:18as Superbowl favorites.
05:19And it's good.
