On the class' first "normal" field trip to the zoo, they wonder how the animals could live in the city. The Friz then turns them into various city animals (Tim, Arnold, and Phoebe into foxes; Ralphie, Wanda, and Keesha into opossums; Dorothy Ann and Carlos into peregrine falcons, and herself into a raccoon), but the magic school bus mistakes itself for a bear, and with Liz inside, leaves them. Worse, the city authorities are after it, Carlos thought that it is a lost sheep needing to return home. Will the class get to it in time, or will they be animals forever?

00:02Seatbelts, everyone!
00:04Please let this be a normal field trip with a friend?
00:07No way!
00:08Cruising on the main street, you're relaxed and feeling good.
00:12Next thing that you know, you're skiing.
00:16Octopus in the neighborhood!
00:18Surfing on the sun wave, swinging through the stars.
00:22Take a nap that's your intestine, take your second right past Mars.
00:26I'm a magic school that hurts.
00:28Navigate a nostril, climb on the magic school bus.
00:32Spank a plane, turn two, on all the magic school bus.
00:36Wrap the river of lava, on the magic school bus.
00:40Such a fine thing to do.
00:42So strap your bones right to the seat.
00:45Come on in and don't be shy, just to make your day complete.
00:49You might get baked into a pile on the magic school bus.
00:53Step inside, it's a wider ride.
00:56Come on!
00:57Right on the magic school bus!
01:14It's amazing to think that there are all these wild animals right here in the middle of the city.
01:19Yeah, but if it weren't for the zoo, they wouldn't be here.
01:23No way foxes could live in a city on their own.
01:26Yeah, they've got a nice den in there where they can keep their babies warm and safe.
01:31And food is delivered.
01:33Sorry folks, but you'll have to go now. Closing time.
01:37According to my research, peregrine falcons like these are cliff dwellers who catch and eat other birds.
01:45It's really cool how they got their own cliff right here in the zoo.
01:49It must be the only cliff around for miles.
01:51We've got to go, guys.
01:54How come?
01:55It's closing time.
01:57Ah, too bad.
01:58Okay, we've got everyone but Wanda and Ralphie.
02:02That is so cool.
02:05I wish I had a tail I could hang by.
02:07Hey, Wanda, Ralphie, we've been looking all over for you.
02:11Oh, aren't those possums sweet?
02:14And the zoo made the perfect habitat for them.
02:17Lots of trees to hang from and places to hide.
02:22Now I know what the frizz meant when she said the zoo went to a lot of trouble to build
02:26places so these wild animals would have everything they need.
02:29Right here in the middle of the city.
02:31Yeah, well, we've seen all the wild animals we're going to see for a while because they're closing up the
02:35zoo for the night.
02:45All aboard, class.
02:48Miss Frizzle.
02:50Come ride on the wild side.
02:54So, did everyone enjoy our trip to the zoo?
02:57Did you see the possums and foxes and falcons?
03:00Oh, my.
03:01It was neat to be able to see the way those wild animals really live.
03:05Yeah, because when you live in the city, there's no way you can see any wild animals.
03:10Yeah, only party animals.
03:13Carlos.
03:13Well, as my cousin Buck always says, wild is as wild does.
03:20Seatbelts, everyone.
03:23Hey, Ralphie.
03:24Don't you think this is strange?
03:26I mean, we had a normal field trip.
03:28A regular trip to the zoo.
03:31I guess the Frizz thought seeing foxes and possums and falcons right here in the middle of the city was
03:36weird enough.
03:38But it wasn't so weird because they all had places in the zoo that gave them what they need to
03:43survive.
03:43Yeah, what would be really weird would be to see all those animals out here on the city streets.
03:48Can you feature that?
03:50Absolutely, Tim.
03:51We can all feature wild creatures.
03:55What?
03:56Tim, quick, take it back.
03:58Oh, boss.
04:00Do your...
04:01Oh, no.
04:03Stuff.
04:17Ms. Frizzle!
04:19I knew I should have stayed in my den.
04:22I mean, home today.
04:23Is it just me, or has the bus turned into a bear?
04:27And Liz is still inside it.
04:29We're all wild animals, which means we're in trouble.
04:33Oh, not necessarily, Tim.
04:35All we've got to do is take chances, get messy, and see what it takes to survive in the city.
04:42If we can survive in the city, come on, it'll be a piece of cake.
04:47All we need is food and a safe place to live.
04:51Well-reasoned, Carlos.
04:53Not bad for a bird braid, huh?
04:55So I vote we find food first, then...
05:15I don't know.
05:27I don't think I like being a possum in the city. It's not safe.
05:32Maybe we'd be safer in the bus.
05:35Good thinking, Ralphie.
05:38To the bus!
05:43Oh, dear.
05:45Where is the bus?
05:47Hmm, it was supposed to stay here to protect us.
05:50But bears will be bears, you know.
05:52Look!
05:54Hey, Liz, stop!
05:57Wait for us!
05:59Liz!
06:02What are we gonna do? What are we gonna do? What are we gonna do?
06:06Not to worry, class.
06:10Oops, I forgot. Raccoons can't whistle.
06:14We've gotta catch up with the bus. Otherwise, we're stuck.
06:18Carlos and I can fly, so we'll see if we can spot it.
06:30This way!
06:37There it is!
06:39Hey, Buzz! Wait for us!
06:42I see it!
07:02It must be looking for food!
07:10Hey, guys! The bus is going right into the middle of the city!
07:15Somebody's bound to see it for sure.
07:17We've gotta find it first.
07:18But how? It's not like we can just walk around in the city looking like this.
07:22We're wild animals.
07:23Oh, come on, class. Don't despair.
07:26As my Uncle Leo used to say,
07:29if you know what you need, you're halfway to getting it.
07:32Well, we need that bus. Come on!
07:36Let's fly, Carlos.
07:38Hey, wait for us.
07:47Tim! Tim! Tim! Stop! Wait for the others!
07:51Man, I wish possums weren't so slow.
07:55But would you look at that? How'd it get here?
07:58Poor thing. It must be lost.
08:01I bet it's starving and scared like us.
08:04It doesn't look scared to me.
08:06No, it looks as if it knows exactly what it's doing.
08:24What's the matter, Jake?
08:28Jake!
08:30Run!
08:52Here, over the wall!
09:09Jake!
09:10Here, boy!
09:18Forget it, Jake.
09:19There's no way you'll catch whatever's in there.
09:21It's too good a hiding place.
09:23Come on.
09:24Let's go home.
09:30Phew.
09:31He's gone.
09:32Are you sure?
09:36You guys all right?
09:40Come on out.
09:41You're not going to find the bus in there.
09:50What's that?
09:52What's that?
09:56A raccoon!
09:58A raccoon!
09:59First the possum, and now a raccoon.
10:01What's going on?
10:02What's that raccoon doing in here?
10:05It looks as if she's eating.
10:08I hate to say this, but...
10:10Those worms smell delicious.
10:19I don't think she was expecting company.
10:27I don't think she was expecting company.
10:28Well, Phoebe, it looks as if you have a tale to tell.
10:34There's a raccoon in there, Miss Frizzle, just like you.
10:38Do you believe that?
10:40Right here in the middle of the city.
10:42It's amazing.
10:44If that possum we saw, and that raccoon found something to eat, why not a fox like me?
10:50I'm starving.
10:54I don't think the people living here will appreciate you eating their decorations.
11:00I've got to tell you, they've got really good taste.
11:03Come on, you guys, we don't have time to eat.
11:06We've got to find the bus.
11:08Don't worry, Tim.
11:09Let them eat.
11:10We'll fly up and see what we can see.
11:12Okay, but don't be gone long.
11:14It's getting really dark.
11:16Back in a flash.
11:21See anything, Carlos?
11:23Yeah, a couple of nighthawks.
11:27Nighthawks?
11:27In this city?
11:33I guess someone told them there's nothing like going into the city for a good meal.
11:38Nobody told them anything.
11:40They probably spotted the moths while they were flying through.
11:44Well, the city's about to give me something I need.
11:47A nice, juicy nighthawk to eat.
11:54Carlos, don't you dare.
11:56We've got to find the bus, remember?
11:59But D.A., we're falcons, and falcons eat other birds, and I'm starving.
12:04If we can find the bus, then it can turn us back into kids,
12:08and we can all get something to eat.
12:11Something without feathers.
12:15Look, there's the bus.
12:18Let's follow it.
12:22Where'd it go?
12:24We lost it, D.A.
12:25I don't see it anywhere.
12:33And I'm getting really tired.
12:35Me too.
12:37I'd really like a nice cliff to perch on.
12:39But where are we going to find a cliff in the middle of the city?
12:43No problem.
12:44There's one.
12:46Uh, Carlos?
12:47Look again.
12:48It's not a cliff.
12:49It's a skyscraper.
12:52See?
12:53What difference does that make?
12:55We're safe up here.
12:56And if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.
13:01As the frizz might say,
13:03one person's skyscraper is another falcon's cliff.
13:10Where are D.A. and Carlos?
13:11Do you think they got lost?
13:12We probably shouldn't have split up.
13:15Well, I can't wait any longer.
13:21Arnold, where are you going?
13:23To find food.
13:26I'm with him.
13:28I'm starving.
13:29What if we leave?
13:30How are D.A. and Carlos going to find us?
13:32As my cousin Peregrine always says,
13:35never underestimate the ability of a falcon
13:38to see what it's looking for.
13:47No way a bus that looks like a bear
13:49could get across the street without being seen.
13:53What was that?
13:54What's going on down there?
13:56It looks like a bear.
13:59A bear?
14:01We've got to call the police.
14:03Or the zoo.
14:06The bus must have found something to eat down there.
14:09He's not just a pretty hood, you know.
14:12Come on!
14:16I don't see the bus, do you?
14:31Oh, this is where the elite meet to eat.
14:37It smells good to me.
14:42Jump in, guys.
14:43There's plenty for everyone.
14:56If you're the kind of animal like a possum or a raccoon that can, mmm, mmm, eat many different kinds
15:02of food,
15:03there's lots of choices in the city.
15:07Food, good places to hide, I'm beginning to think that maybe wild animals can survive in the city.
15:14Well, maybe it's possible for raccoons and possums and rats, but not for bears.
15:18Where's it going to hide?
15:20Where's it going to hide?
15:20It was definitely here.
15:23Hmm.
15:24A fox's nose.
15:25Nose.
15:26Nose.
15:27Nose.
15:29Nose.
15:53Nose.
15:57Nose.
15:59Nose.
16:07Nose.
16:08Nose.
16:08Nose.
16:13Nose.
16:21Nose.
16:22Nose.
16:23Yes, here's another paw print.
16:24The bus must have come this way.
16:26I don't blame it.
16:27It's a lot easier to walk along here and there aren't any cars or people.
16:32It's like a highway, just for wild animals.
16:34Look!
16:37I wonder where he's going.
16:39Yeah, you think he'd stay as far away from the city as he could.
16:43City, country...
16:44It's all the same to him, Tim, as long as he can find what he needs.
16:48Coming, class?
16:54You guys aren't going to believe this.
17:00Fox babies!
17:03Not only can wild animals survive in the city,
17:06they can actually live here and have babies and everything.
17:10Who knew?
17:11As long as an animal has what it needs to survive, everything's possible.
17:16Shh, shh.
17:17I hear it, too.
17:23Miss Frizzle, hide.
17:25As my friend, Madame DuVay, always says,
17:28take cover!
17:31Where'd you say you saw that footprint, Hal?
17:34Over here.
17:35But there sure was something weird about it.
17:39It's the zookeeper.
17:41Well, I see some fox tracks, and maybe a raccoon, but no bear.
17:46We've got to find it, tranquilize it, and take it back to the woods where it belongs, before it gets
17:51hurt.
17:51Well, let's keep going.
17:53It must be around here somewhere.
17:55Oh, no!
17:56Those guys are going after the bus!
18:08There they are, on the train tracks!
18:12We've been looking all over the city for you guys.
18:16The zookeeper's going to try and take the bus back to the woods.
18:19They think it's a real bear.
18:21And so they should.
18:23Even the bus thinks it's a bear.
18:26So where is it?
18:27Oh, bad.
18:28Oh, bad.
18:29Oh, bad, bad, bad!
18:31Okay, it's bad.
18:32But if we don't find Liz in the bus before the zookeeper does, it'll be worse.
18:37We'll be looking for food and a safe place to live for the rest of our lives.
18:41At least it's possible for us, and for falcons and possums and raccoons.
18:48But a bear doesn't have a chance in the city.
18:50It's too big!
18:53Foxy observation, Phoebe.
18:55I hate to be thinking of my stomach at a time like this, but...
18:58Is that food I smell?
19:04It smells gummy!
19:07Garbage!
19:09Hey, there's a big garbage jump just over there.
19:21That bear's got to be around here somewhere.
19:23There are tracks all over the place.
19:28We've got to do something.
19:30Well, if I were a bear, I'd hide in a cave.
19:34But there are no caves around here, Phoebe.
19:36Really, Tim?
19:37Are you absolutely sure about that?
19:43I see what you mean.
19:45It could be a cave if you were desperate.
19:48And the bus was desperate.
19:50And here it is.
19:52Sound asleep.
19:53Hey, Hal!
19:54Over here!
19:55We've got to try and keep them away from here.
19:57I'll see if I can distract them.
20:05What was that?
20:06A fox.
20:07And a real beauty, too.
20:09I'm not surprised.
20:10Well, I've seen whole families of foxes in that old graveyard back there.
20:16It didn't do any good.
20:18They weren't interested in me.
20:20No, they know that sometimes foxes live in the city.
20:23But how are we going to get rid of the zookeeper before he finds the bus?
20:27Then don't worry, class.
20:29Leave it to me.
20:31What's that?
20:32Looks like a raccoon.
20:35No way!
20:36I'm going to mess with an angry raccoon.
20:38She must have her family hidden around here somewhere.
20:41Better come back tomorrow when she's asleep.
20:43Yay!
20:43You did it!
20:44Come on, Ms. Frizzle.
20:45Well, raccoons may not be able to whistle, but we sure can kiss.
20:50Now let's get the bus.
20:53Quick, pull it away!
20:57Hey, bus!
20:59Liz, wake up!
21:04As I always say, only a great bus can bear up under difficult circumstances.
21:11Well done, bus.
21:13Yay!
21:14Let's hear it for the bus!
21:16Yay!
21:17Well, I think we've had a wild enough time for one night.
21:21Don't you, class?
21:23But we survived it, didn't we?
21:26You bet we did.
21:27Liz!
21:35Single file, please.
21:37Too bad you missed all the action, Liz.
21:39You wouldn't believe how many wild animals actually live in the city.
21:44And they can live here because they found food, shelter, and safety.
21:49And even though they're here, we don't see wild animals much because they're so good at staying safely out of
21:54sight.
21:56Sometimes they get here by following paths, like the old railroad track that leads from the country into the city.
22:03But to an animal, the city isn't a bad place or an ugly place.
22:07It's just a place.
22:09And for some, it's a pretty good place not just to visit, but to live.
22:13Oh, and I didn't have to wait to go back to the zoo to see more baby foxes.
22:19Well, Ms. Frizzle, this has been a bear of a field trip.
22:23Oh, good one, Ralphie.
22:25Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
22:28ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
22:30ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
22:32ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
22:34ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
22:38ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
22:47Magic school bus? Magic school bus? Magic school bus? Magic school bus? I wonder if we have any wild animals
23:03living out here, Liz. I don't care what you say, Liz. You were in the show. Keep looking.
23:15Hello, Magic school bus? The producer speaking. Hi. How come a fox can make it in the city, but a
23:21bear can't? Well, as you saw in the show, there aren't enough places for bears to hide, and they can
23:27be dangerous. If a bear tried to stay in the city, it would have to spend all its time hiding
23:33from humans like it did in our show. Right. Now, how can I tell if any wild animals live near
23:38me?
23:38Well, some wild animals are all around, only you forget about them. Squirrels, for example, and birds. You can use
23:46binoculars to watch squirrels and birds close up without bothering them. And sometimes, even if you can't see the animal,
23:54you can see signs they've been there, like tracks in the dirt or scat. That's the polite name for animal
24:00poop. There are books that will tell you whose tracks or scat you found.
24:05Hey, Liz. I think we've got a raccoon living out here.
24:09But when you do see a wild animal, don't try to approach it since it may be dangerous.
24:17I have some raccoons that live near me that are real pests. Is there any way I can persuade them
24:22to move someplace else?
24:24Sure. Find out what they're eating and make sure they can't get it anymore. If their needs, like food, aren't
24:31met, they'll move on. Also, clean up any garbage and make sure trash is tightly covered.
24:36Thanks for the tip. I'll try that.
24:41You know, you were right, Liz. You weren't in this show very much. So, do you want to be in
24:47it now?
24:59Now, that's what I call a wild animal in the city.
25:02Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
25:10Surfing on the sound wave, swinging through the stars
25:14Take a lap into your intestine, take your second right past Mars
25:18On a magic school bus, navigate a nostril
25:21Climb on the magic school bus, make a plane turn to

25:30On a magic school bus, such a fine thing to do
25:34So strap your bones right to the seat
25:37Come on in and don't be shy
25:39Just to make your day complete
25:41You might get baked into a pie
25:43On a magic school bus
25:44Stuck inside, it's a wild garage
25:48Come on
25:49Right on the magic school bus
