00:03I heard about this thing called the Big Wave World Tour and I decided like, well I want to be
00:07a part of this.
00:08I'd like to surf the best waves in the world with a few guys in the water and have lots
00:12of rescue looking after you and the whole thing just sounds exciting.
00:17And then I realized I was kind of getting close, like nobody else was doing what I was doing.
00:21I was the only guy showing up to all the events trying to get in just because I had the
00:25means to do it.
00:28Consistently chasing these events, I eventually got in.
00:32Like Trevor, other Big Wave surfers share similar ambitions to get on this Big Wave World Tour.
00:37Will Scudin is one of them, born in Hawaii but raised in New York, a city where overhead surf is
00:44a rare occasion.
00:45I don't remember there not being water time in my life.
00:48Like there was always like you had to eat, you had to sleep, you had to go to school and
00:51you had to go swimming.
00:52Me and my brother just happened to be from Long Island, New York.
00:54Or just the beaches there.
00:56But we grew up the same way a lot of these guys grew up, you know, just swimming and surfing.
01:00And you know, our playground was the ocean.
01:04You know, as you get older, it did come into the point where it was like, you know, you have
01:08to start traveling to progress at this point, you know, from where I am.
01:13I don't have a Big Wave in my backyard, so I had to find my Big Wave.
01:17Like many who are island born, Will finds his way back to Hawaii with every swell.
01:26Chasing monster waves around the world, Will vies to compete on the Big Wave World Tour.
01:31The Big Wave World Tour consists of five events starting in the southern hemisphere.
01:37It's the Chile event at Punta de Lebos, Pico Alto event in Peru, Jaws event, Piaxi event in Maui, Nelscott
01:45event in Oregon, and then the Totos event in Mexico.
01:49Other stops on the Big Wave World Tour include the Puerto Escondido Challenge in Mexico, the Punta Galea Pro in
01:56Basque Country, and the Nazare Challenge in Portugal.
01:59The latest addition to the Big Wave World Tour.
02:01The standard's been set, trying to keep up with these guys, you know, and only 24 guys in the whole
02:06world.
02:06So, to be able to get on that list and get in one of these events and put one of
02:10those jerseys on, just that in itself is an accomplishment.
