00:00The Star Foundation on Friday received a 10,000 ringgit donation from Tan Sri Lili Lamthai,
00:06who praised the foundation for its role in nation-building.
00:09The foundation, which is the charitable arm of Star Media Group,
00:13has played an important role in bridging social gaps,
00:16fostering community development and assisting vulnerable Malaysians.
00:20The mock-check presentation was witnessed by SMG Chairman Tan Sri Wang Fun Meng,
00:26Group Chief Executive Officer Chan Seng Phat, and other executives.
00:31I like to align myself with the good work that is being done by the foundation.
00:38And I think what is important is that I can see that through the foundation,
00:44it has helped to reach out to many very deserving Malaysians,
00:51those who are from the low-income group, the poor,
00:54and those who are deprived, you know.
00:59And through the foundation, Star Foundation, I think we have helped to contribute immensely
01:05to this very deserving group of these people.
01:09And of course, what is more important to me is the issue of health care,
01:15because I understand that the Star Foundation also provides this medical assistance and help
01:26to those who are in need.
01:28Lee said the donation came from proceeds of his book entitled,
01:33Call Lili Lamthai, Recalling a Lifetime of Service,
01:36which is a 312-page biography detailing his 50-year career.
01:42He added that he has always been passionate about serving the community,
01:46having entered politics at the age of 23.
01:49His role as Executive Secretary of the National Union of Commercial Workers in 1969
01:56made him more aware of the needs, rights, and welfare of the people.
