Seven non-profit organisations recently received a boost from the Star Foundation to expand their impact from the foundation's two key programmes – the Star Social Impact Grant (SSIG) and the Supporting NGOs Programme.

Star Foundation acting chairman Datuk Yeow Wah Chin, Star Media Group chairman Tan Sri Datuk Wong Foon Meng, and group chief executive officer Chan Seng Fatt were present to hand out the mock cheques at the ceremony at Menara Star.

00:00Seven non-profit organizations recently received a boost from the Starr Foundation to expand
00:07their impact from the Foundation's two key programs, the Starr Social Impact Grant, SSIG,
00:14and the Supporting NGOs Program.
00:16Starr Foundation Acting Chairman Datuk Yaw Wah Chin said the SSIG had awarded 714,000
00:24ringgit to 14 social organizations, amplifying their reach.
00:28Meanwhile, the Supporting NGOs Program has benefited 362 NGOs with 20.56 million ringgit
00:36in donations as of October this year.
00:39Our Foundation's mission is clear, to deliver impactful initiatives that make a difference
00:47in the lives of those who need it most.
00:52To our recipients today, your unwavering commitment of championing causes that uplift those in
01:00need continuously serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration.
01:06Three recipients were awarded under SSIG, which supports social enterprise projects
01:12aimed at improving the lives of local communities.
01:15They were Pertubuhan Wanita Berdaya, Women of Will, and Ideas Autism Center.
01:21Both of each received 50,000 ringgit, and Light Up Borneo PLT, which was awarded 34,000 ringgit.
01:28We have been in Sabah since almost seven years ago, and as we deepen our work in Sabah,
01:36we realize that there are of course more and more communities that we want to reach out to.
01:41And with this very generous grant from the Starr, we will actually be empowering 25 women
01:48and their families, upskilling them and training them in knowledge on how to actually develop
01:55sustainable livelihoods through better agricultural methods.
02:01Four recipients, funded through the Supporting NGOs Program with Ad Hoc Financial Assistance,
02:07were present at the ceremony to receive support ranging from 10,800 to 31,500 ringgit.
02:14They were Selangor Family Aid Association, Home for the Aged Simi Care Center,
02:19Persatuan Insan Istimewa Selangor Ceras, and Persatuan Mobility Selangor dan Kuala Lumpur.
02:25Since I joined this association, it has really helped our people.
02:30It is really convenient for me to go out.
02:33Although there is a time limit, we are all very happy because the city is taking care of us,
02:41and the association really cares about our feelings.
02:44Also present at the event was Starr Media Group Chairman Tan Sri Wong Foon Meng
02:49and Group Chief Executive Officer Chan Seng Phat.
