00:26Siao said that during a visit by Najib to the area that year, he sought help through a
00:32local Penghulu to submit an appeal to the Home Ministry for an early release so he could
00:38care for his elderly parents.
00:40He said he later received notification from the Home Ministry that his detention could
00:45be ended early, allowing him to return home.
00:48Siao described the decision as an opportunity to start his life anew, after which he started
00:54a small business selling tofu pudding.
00:57He said seeing Najib seeking to return home to serve the remainder of his sentence under
01:02house arrest reminded him of his own experience 14 years ago.
01:07Siao said he earns about one ringgit in profit per bowl, meaning his 10,000 ringgit contribution
01:14represents the profits from around 10,000 bowls of tofu pudding.
