00:00Wealth alone is not enough, as leadership must come with heart.
00:06This is the belief of self-made entrepreneur Teng Ngeklian.
00:10Teng has pledged one million ringgit annually during his lifetime to his alma mater,
00:14Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology, TARUMT,
00:18to cultivate socially responsible leaders who combine success with compassion.
00:23Launching the Silent TARUMT Fund on Wednesday,
00:26Teng, who is the Silent Foundation founder and executive chairman,
00:30stressed the urgent need for morally grounded graduates who can drive societal progress,
00:35not just economic gains.
00:36Because I hope our alumni association is of these people at college.
00:43We want to pass down good value to others.
00:48Hence, it paved the way of setting up this plan.
00:52So, I hope it's the kind of thing that we want successful enterprise.
00:58We'll use great successful people.
01:01But the great part has got to incorporate subhuman energy.
01:06So, that is why when I come up with the fund,
01:12I incorporate that one third of the fund
01:15to do with the purpose of how to be socially responsible in this.
01:21I'm completely honored and emotional.
01:27I come back to the start.
01:31Thank you so much.
01:33It's been my life.
01:35A proud alumnus of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology,
01:40TARUMT, Teng pledged a lifelong annual donation of 1 million ringgit to the university
01:45via his Singapore-based foundation,
01:48which aids marginalized or silent sufferers.
01:51The 1 million ringgit annual fund will be channeled equally into three core areas.
01:56The first tranche will support research efforts by TARUMT students
02:00and staff in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence,
02:04green energy, robotics, automation, and financial technology.
02:09The second tranche is aimed at fostering racial harmony
02:12among TARUMT students and with other institutions.
02:16The third tranche will fund student-led social initiatives
02:19to nurture compassionate, socially responsible leaders.
02:22The initiative was formalized through a memorandum of agreement
02:26signed with TARUMT President Professor Datuk Dr. Lee Siwei.
02:31TARUMT Board of Governors and Alumni Council Chairman Tan Sri Chan Kong Choi
02:35lauded the initiative, saying it reflected Teng's life philosophy of uplifting the voiceless.
02:41Through this foundation, he champions courses offered for cotton
02:47from migrant workers to mental health patients,
02:52from women's rights to environmental protection.
02:57He believes in impact, in outreach, and in quiet deeds
03:02that leave a lasting legacy.
03:05I believe all of us here, especially our younger Tarsians,
03:10have something to learn from our super-cedure, Mr. Teng.
03:15Chan added that Teng's story is a powerful reminder
03:18that success is not defined by one's starting point
03:21but by how one lives with humility, resilience, and gratitude.
03:25Thank you very much.
