00:00Cuban President Miguel Díaz Canel denounced the harmful effects of the economic blockade
00:04imposed by the United States against the island during his address at the International Conference
00:08on Unilateral Coercive Measures taking place in Geneva.
00:13I assure you that the Cuban people will not forget those who, in the face of oppression
00:19and blackmail, stood on the side of justice and raised their hands and voices without
00:24fear to defend the rights of these heroic people, to live and to choose their own destiny.
00:31In the same way, I assure you that the Cuban people will defend in the face of the voracious
00:37appetite of the empire that aggresses us.
00:41Every inch of our homeland, the determination of Cuban women and men to defend our absolute
00:49sovereignty is total.
00:53And the Cuban President noted that the restrictions imposed by Washington over the past decades
00:58are part of a strategy aimed at regime change.
01:02Cuba is the victim of a prolonged collective punishment intended to crush its people through
01:07hunger, disease and severe shortage of basic supplies.
01:11This policy of strangulation comes on top of 65 years of the most severe and prolonged economic,
01:17commercial and financial war ever waged against any country, which has been enforced through
01:23a meticulous and perverse system of unilateral coercive measures designed to spark social unrest
01:30and violate the constitutional order, legitimately established by Cubans in the exercise of our right
01:39to self-determination.
