00:25that it had entered talks with the U.S. government
00:27as an oil blockade imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump
00:31pushes it deeper into economic crisis.
00:34A Mexico-backed flotilla carrying humanitarian aid
00:38departed for Cuba Friday with activists on board
00:41chanting, Cuba yes, blockade no.
00:46And more than 150 people from the U.S. left for Havana
00:51on a humanitarian mission, according to organizers,
00:54to deliver medical supplies while protesting
00:57U.S. policy toward the island.
00:59On Friday, Diaz-Canel told a group of foreign activists
01:03that Cuba was preparing for possible U.S. aggression,
01:07and that Cuba has, quote,
01:09unleashed a preparation plan.
01:11He said on social media Tuesday that any external aggressor
01:16will face an impenetrable resistance.
01:19USA Today, citing two sources with knowledge
01:22of the Trump administration's plans, reported before Cuba's announcement
01:26that Trump was preparing an economic deal with Cuba,
01:30one that would relax trade restrictions
01:32but include an off-ramp for Diaz-Canel.
