00:00In Cuba, President Miguel Díaz-Canel strongly rejected claims that the island poses a security
00:05threat to the United States through a formal statement. The Cuban leader condemned Washington's
00:09ongoing military intimidation and media campaigns which he warned are being used to fabricate
00:14a pretext for an irrational war. Through the communique, the Cuban leader denounced that
00:19the idea that Cuba poses a threat to the United States can only exist in the twisted minds
00:24of certain officials in the current U.S. administration who have hijacked policy toward our island
00:30who recently lied to the U.S. people and the world to justify a new irrational war.
00:37The President also noted, the Cuban Revolution has sought to live in peace since its triumph
00:43but it has been successive U.S. administrations that have threatened that right time and again.
00:50Now they are taking it to extremes, combining absurd lies with military intimidation and depriving
00:55the Cuban people of the most basic resources.
00:58In this regard, Díaz-Canel assured, to the U.S. people and to the decent politicians of
01:03that country, we reaffirm that Cuba neither threatens, nor defies, nor provokes the United
01:08States or any other country in the world. Cuba is a nation of peace. We are protected by
01:12the right to self-defense established by international law.
01:16The Cuban executive concluded by warning, our people and our armed forces have a long tradition
01:23of struggle, resistance and victory forged in the Sierra Maestra, at the Bay of Pigs and
01:29during the internationalist missions in Africa, now will be no different. Even so, we remain
01:34hope for that reason, dialogue and peace will prevail.
