00:00A lot to get to here.
00:01I want to get to the national championship game,
00:03but we were talking about the Astros and Tyler as in the middle of the break there.
00:11Well, he didn't whisper this into my ear, but he alerted me of this.
00:15And, Clint, I want to share this with you and the people.
00:17This from Will Kunkel.
00:20There will not be a timeline put on Astros pitcher Hunter Brown
00:25to return for at least three weeks per source.
00:32Also, I'm also told the team is, quote-unquote, Clint,
00:36not worried about his injury, which was a shoulder strain going forward.
00:41But there is no timetable for at least three weeks.
00:49But they're not worried.
00:51Not comfortable.
00:53I'm going to tell you, it's hard for me, boys, not to look back at the pitch count.
00:57He threw, what, 100 pitches his first outing?
01:01Four and two-thirds innings, four hits, no earned runs, nine strikeouts, 102 pitches.
01:07Four walks, yep.
01:08102 pitches.
01:09Right?
01:10The next outing, five days later, March 31.
01:16Like 70-something.
01:17Six innings, one hit, one earned, 78 pitches.
01:23I mean, look, I don't – in a situation where – I think you just look at that on paper
01:27and you're like, yeah, it was a 9-2 ballgame.
01:29I don't know exactly what the score was when he came in.
01:31Like, all right, they just pulled him out six innings.
01:33Why not?
01:33Well, yeah, but, I mean, is this not a bigger picture of like, hey, man,
01:38you don't know what you're going to get from Mike Burroughs.
01:40You don't know what you're going to get from really anybody at this point.
01:42You don't know what you're going to get from anybody named other than Hunter Brown.
01:45And you'd already – the first round through the lineup and through the rotation,
01:49you'd already taxed your bullpen.
01:51And so, you look at it and you go, yeah, I mean, I understand.
01:54You'd like to rest him as much as you can when you get the opportunity.
01:57But would it have not been better for the team right there
01:59for him to have gone another inning or two if it was possible?
02:02So, I can't help but look back at the Hunter Brown injury
02:05and look back and go 102 pitches and then his next down,
02:09he throws 24 fewer pitches by design, by choice.
02:13Did something happen in that game?
02:14Did something happen in that sixth inning or in that fifth inning?
02:19And then say, oh, man, I've got to yank him for precautionary reasons.
02:23And now, all of a sudden, here we are.
02:25He's on IL with no timetable to return.
02:28That's the scary part here.
02:29Yep, and fair to some of our listeners who are getting nervous about the no timetable
02:41for a return.
02:42But –
02:43Mix is all nervous.
02:44You know, will it be at least three weeks?
02:47And they're not worried, quote-unquote, about the shoulder strain.
02:51Text line coming in.
02:52Here we go again from the base power text line.
02:54Are they talking about us or are they talking about the Astros?
02:56Astros.
02:56Yeah, it's true.
02:57I mean, so we've gone from 15 days to 21 days.
02:59And if they bump to a six-man rotation, I would imagine that's going by three more days
03:03or three more games, maybe four or five more days, right, for Hunter Brown.
03:07So maybe that's how they get there.
03:08We're looking at at least three starts.
03:10This is already one.
03:11Yeah, you were looking at three starts in a 15-day IL stint.
03:15Even if you backdated, you were looking at three starts.
03:17So if they go to a six-man rotation, you look at three weeks, which is 21 days.
03:22And so, I mean, even with a six-man rotation, you're probably still looking at four starts.
03:26But that's just when he – it seems like that's when he'll at least be looked at again.
03:31Like they're saying he won't be back for at least three weeks.
03:34Yeah.
03:34I mean, so here we are two weeks into the damn season,
03:36and you've got Hunter Brown that's on the IL with some issues.
03:40And you've got Jeremy Pena, who's load managing from jump, playing every other game.
03:45And you literally – all the infielders you got,
03:47you got some guy named Nick Allen getting run.
03:49I'm trying to do the best I can.
03:51Nick Allen swung the bat pretty well against the A's.
03:53Yeah, he swung as fast as hell, too.
03:54He ran – hell, he's one of the reasons you scored.
03:56Six hits in that game.
03:57Yeah, I mean, look, I mean, I'm not – that's not a knock on Nick.
04:00That's just simply – I mean, hell, you got five all-star infielders.
04:03Yeah.
04:04Paredes returned yesterday.
04:05He didn't play.
04:06The Paredes.
04:07Yeah, so it's – I don't know, man.
04:10It's a tad bit –
04:10That was interesting.
04:11A tad bit interesting, man.
04:13Yeah.
04:13You know.
04:14You get him some at-bats.
04:16You're right.
04:16Maybe the every-other-day thing for Jeremy Payne is probably not helping him out.
04:21They're out there in the field.
04:23Yeah, I don't know.
04:23I don't know what the deal – I mean, it's the tip of a finger.
04:26It's his throwing hand.
04:28It's not even his glove hand.
04:29No, it's his glove hand, isn't it?
04:30Anyway, point being is, I mean, we're two weeks into the season,
04:35and we've got two of our key players, our leadoff guy and our ace pitcher,
04:39and you don't have a hater back yet.
04:40Yeah.
04:41Chandelier Rome on YouTube.
04:43That's a hell of a name, man.
04:44Is that really the name?
04:45I think it's a play on Chandler.
04:47Oh.
04:47Chandelier Rome.
04:49Chandelier Rome.
04:50This smells like the Tucker thing again.
04:53I don't know about that, guys.
04:54I mean, let's – we're not going to give them a chance.
04:57We're not going to give the new guys a shot here.
05:00Nobody has bones as weak as that man's shins.
05:04I don't know, man.
05:05You're not going to like to have a word.
05:06Yeah, that's serious.
05:07Don't say that too loud.
05:08That old-fingered Germans guy, it seems like that was –
05:10I mean, it's keeping him out of every other game, man.
05:12What is that?
05:13What is that?
05:14I don't know.
05:15But if the tip of your – if he could go –
05:17I mean, I could see it, Ron, as just precautionary if you've got –
05:21if you've got Eastside Parades there.
05:23But when he goes on his little bereavement leave, you've got to believe,
05:25like, okay, well, this might be a good time for Jeremy to –
05:28You know this game is about repetition every day.
05:33He wants to play 150-something games.
05:35Long season, Ron.
05:37We'll get on his little phone.
05:38Again, if you are just joining us and you have not –
05:42if you just didn't hear it at the top of the segment,
05:46update from Will Conkle, there will not be a timeline put on Astros pitcher
05:51Hunter Brown to return for at least three weeks.
05:55He was placed on the IL over the weekend,
05:57so he will not return, no timetable for at least three weeks.
06:03Conkle said he is told – as told the team is not worried about his injury,
06:09which is the shoulder strain going forward.
06:12So hopefully that is not the case.
06:15My buff boy, Hunter Brown.
06:18That's the – we said yesterday.
06:21For me, that's the injury that you just – that you couldn't handle.
06:26And hopefully it was quick, and it is not going to be as quick as you want it to be.
06:29Yep.
06:31Jordan and Hunter.
06:32Got a prediction?
06:32Can't afford to lose either one of them.
06:33Got a prediction on what?
06:35Time frame.
06:36Got a prediction here?
06:37Oh, it's Hunter.
06:37He'll be back.
06:39I know he's going to be back, but we're at April 7th right now.
06:43I'm faded as hell right now.
06:45He's back.
06:46Is he back before my birthday, Tyler?
06:48Cinco de Mayo.
06:50Is he on the mound before my birthday, Tyler?
06:53I sure hope so, but I wouldn't guarantee it.
06:56Yes.
06:57I mean, if not, it'd be over a month.
06:59Let's just say –
07:00He's already missed one start, Chief.
07:01Let's just aim for back by the all-star break.
07:04Let's not get greedy.
07:05Tyler.
07:06Come on, man.
07:07I mean, that'd be cool if we had Fromber and JV from five years ago
07:11and maybe even a late Grinkey.
07:13Hey, we need that old Hunter Brown, Chief.
07:15He's sitting in the all-star break.
07:16He's really being cautious.
07:19They said they're not worried.
07:20I hope he's back by the –
07:22This new training staff is probably like, oh, let's take this slow now.
07:26We ain't messing this one up.
07:27The baby steps.
07:28They probably are.
07:29They probably are.
07:30Damn it, Roy!
07:31Of all the players, this couldn't have been Nick.
07:36It sucks to suck.
07:37It couldn't have been Christian Vasquez.
07:39The first one out that we got to deal with.
07:41The first two we got to deal with.
07:43Hunter Brown and Josh Hader.
07:46Of all.
07:47God, no.
07:50Two names we brought up in our most important Astros conversation a few weeks ago.
07:54Lead off, ace, and closer.
07:55Can we stay with – can we stay with – for Mel, maybe?
07:58Can we get –
07:58I don't know about that.
07:59Can we deal with one of these guys?
08:00Yeah.
08:01Coming up.
08:01Take Jake.
08:02Jake.
08:03I don't even – you want to take a starter?
08:04Take Jake.
08:05Take Jake, man.
08:06Leave the rest of them alone, will you?
08:07So messed up.
08:09Jake didn't have a chance.
08:10As soon as he took those steps back when that ball was hit to him straight away,
08:13center field on Sunday, he did not have a chance.
08:16I screwed up.
08:16And that ball just nailed his ass.
08:18Anyway, I will not relinquish that from my mind.
