00:00let's get to our countdown to the nfl draft we've been asking a question today as we head towards
00:04round one of the 2026 nfl draft and today's question should the texans draft a running
00:11back earlier than people think 713-572-4610 17 days 17 questions this is day three day three
00:19and and the reason we want to ask it this way is i think the operative word here is should
00:25should should should they draft a running back earlier than what you think now i think we do
00:31need to kind of establish a baseline of what we think you know might be you know that makes sense
00:37that's the reasonable place that's the reasonable place uh to draft a running back i'm gonna say
00:43and then let's you know we talk about it if you disagree i'm gonna say fourth round might be a
00:49reasonable place we we think they could draft the earliest yeah okay yeah is that reasonable
00:55uh yeah you might could possibly creep up into the third but yeah it doesn't feel like now i know
01:03there's people that love like a jadarian price but yeah it's tough it's tough because as soon as i get
01:07here i almost fall feel like i'm falling into the conversation of you know need and they don't have
01:13big enough needs where i go this can't happen but it it would feel a little bit odd to me
01:18and so so
01:18okay so fourth round is the baseline maybe so are you agreeing or not i'm not sure yet
01:25uh i'm trying to be difficult to three contests yeah how about that anyway um so should they go
01:32higher than that to draft a running back oh this is tough because i know that that we have a

01:38people that listen to us whether it's the uh the youtube page or the text line that are huge on
01:44someone like a mike washington jr who has a third round grade uh and watching him play he's really fun
01:50mike washington jr out of arkansas mind you really fun presses the hole really well bounces incredibly
01:55well cool player um but i just i would love to add another running back i just don't know especially
02:03relatively if that's where i'd want to use that draft capital yeah uh but yeah so i probably go no
02:12i probably go no um on this but because i feel like there's there's guys that you can upgrade or
02:18there's other places where i'd like the upgrade more but i could i could see you and it also feels
02:23like third running back while i would love to have that it would be cool to have hey like a

02:27running back two or whatever i think that you can get a running back three in a place that that
02:32fulfills out your running back room and helps you yeah in a place that's not as as valuable as there
02:38i must say no i must say don't draft above that for this year at least because you know i'm

02:45praising woody mars as like the next up and coming but i do think you got something in him
02:51as a uh a second running back and let's say for instance let's say it don't work out let's say

03:48scenario when they broke broke emergency glass in order to utilize right get a hundred yard game out
03:52of them right that feels like that tells me something but i still am not sir especially after
03:56you get the hundred yard game what does that do for their perception of him yeah the reason i said
04:00should is because i'm going to say no because i think there are other places where you could
04:06much more easily uh defend maybe a flyer on a particular position we talked monday i said wide
04:12receiver you know how the tank delt thing sort of shook me a little bit and and maybe made me

04:18about yeah i'm not so sure even though they might be sure even though you seem to be more sure

04:22am on on jayden higgins and and jaylen no that's right i've staked my claim but i could easily say
04:28and see yeah wide receiver may be higher than most people think we know they're going to draft
04:33offensive linemen you know early i think we most of us know that and would would say that
04:38and then tight end you know you you brought up tight end on monday so unless you're just talking
04:44about the offensive side there's there's some places where you can add some depth there plus
04:48i think the easy answer here or the thing that makes this an easier answer for me is this isn't
04:52really a deep running back class and so if there are teams that do have running back as a a
04:58you know
04:58definitive need as opposed to the texans here who are just going i guess it'd be nice right going to
05:03the
05:03store and just going we could pick up some extra stuff i think the that raises relatively the price
05:09necessary i guess maybe not the price but the importance for other teams where they have higher
05:13value on a smaller you know crop of guys i think that puts you in a weird place the only
05:19question i
05:19have that comes up from that is is this going to be a trend right obviously this is a particularly
05:24small
05:24class of i guess higher level running back maybe three guys that are kind of like two for sure cut
05:32above yeah no it's probably three guys because you could probably slide washington jr in there
05:37alongside them maybe you want to get emmett johnson of uh of nebraska but i feel like we'd be stretching
05:42it there yeah um but yeah there's a small group of those i wonder how much the way that the
05:46nfl and
05:47football in general has moved even more to a passing game and the understanding that running backs don't
05:51get paid and some of these dudes just go and become wide receivers yeah how much of this is just
05:55going to be a trend in the near future of not having as many um running backs that are viable
06:01at the highest level because so many of them have moved to a position of greater need in a position
06:05where you show up better and wide receiver yeah i mean that's fair but i also think there are certain
06:09that are just a cut above and they are made to play running back and if you switch positions on
06:14them
06:14you're making a big mistake i mean love is the perfect example i mean that guy that guy can't play
06:18wide receiver no i hear you but my thought is my thought is not just about the individual players
06:22it's it's the groups right how many are we going to have more groups of running back uh running
06:27backs that come to the wire or come to the draft rather and look a little sparse like this as
06:31opposed to years past where you go oh there's a there's a bunch of dudes pick your pick your uh
06:35pick your fancy and you will get a running back that will help you it feels like uh at least
06:40in
06:40theoretically because again i'm not speaking on this looking at uh what is the 27 draft class what is
06:44i'm not actively looking at those but it's just a theoretical question because we have seen
06:48that trend of some guys that are running backs you know move to wide receiver
06:52in order to you know in order to maybe better their prospects or whatever but we've also seen
06:56i guess to some degree some dudes move from playing wide receiver to running back but just a thought
07:00that came up while we were talking about whether or not the texans should maybe uh add a running back
07:05a little bit higher than uh higher than would be prescribed real quick do they get one in the fourth
07:09round i think that's the place where it falls i'd gamble no yeah i'm gonna say no too if we're
