00:00That is wrong, yes.
00:02Oh, I've already messed it up.
00:05Why am I acting like I've never poured a beer before?
00:07I've done something wrong with this.
00:09This doesn't feel right at all.
00:11Hi, I'm Robert Pattinson, and we're gonna make some cocktails
00:14inspired by three of my films and three of my favorite films.
00:27This is a dark and stormy for the drama.
00:32So we start with the lime juice.
00:36Oh, I've already spilled.
00:39Good start.
00:41And we have some ginger syrup.
00:43This is one kind of rum.
00:46I've totally forgotten what it is.
00:47Blackstruck.
00:48Should those be going in the shaker?
00:50Oh , sorry.
00:52It's all going in the same hole.
00:55Obviously, I'm doing my improvised version.
00:57I should probably go in the shaker, but I like doing it this way.
01:00So you put like how much you can fit in the little hat.
01:05Oh, that smells really nice.
01:07And another one.
01:09And maybe a couple more.
01:13Soda water.
01:14I put it in here.
01:15I messed up the whole thing.
01:16Now I understand why you have to put it in the shaker.
01:20And then you put it in the shaker, obviously.
01:24Shake it all up.
01:28Delightfully presented dark and stormy.
01:31Dark and stormy.
01:32Oh , there's more.
01:34Oh, spill it everywhere.
01:36And that'll be $35.
01:40That doesn't look properly shaken at all.
01:43Mmm, the job.
01:46Oh, garnish.
01:47You put it on like this?
01:49Ooh.
01:50Okay.
01:50This is the moment of truth.
01:57Very nice.
01:59I don't think I really mixed the ingredients up very well.
02:03But yeah, we'll get the job done.
02:05The first time I read the script, I instinctively was reading it.
02:09Oh, this is really strange.
02:10I'm just reading it as myself.
02:12And I've done an English accent a couple of times.
02:14But you get terrified that people will think that the character is you.
02:18And so I ended up being incredibly brutal on the character.
02:24And filled with as much self-doubt that I am as a person.
02:30Zendaya is a very, very good dancer.
02:32Didn't know this until I started doing it.
02:35And I'm not a hate dancer.
02:38So that was fun.
02:39It was a nice bonding experience.
02:41Found the look of the character through a lot of trial and error.
02:45Considering when you watch the movie, he looks quite like a normal guy.
02:49It's really hard to find normal guy clothes.
02:53Because when you try too hard to look like a normal guy,
02:55you end up looking like you're on like a sitcom.
02:59It was one of the most extensive fittings that I've ever done.
03:03Like considering we just end up with like a Jansport backpack.
03:07It's perfect.
03:09It was cool.
03:09I kind of like it.
03:10I like that sort of slightly professorial look.
03:14I've definitely connected with it a lot.
03:16I feel like that could have been potentially me in a different life.
03:18I kept the entire wardrobe from this.
03:21And I wear it.
03:22I think the last time I did that was on the first Twilight.
03:24Where I ended up wearing that stuff for many years afterwards.
03:29So this is an old fashioned, the granddaddy of drinks for the Batman.
03:34The granddaddy of superheroes and the most relevant and important.
03:43Okay.
03:44Start with the bitters.
03:45You go one, two.
03:47Oh, Jesus.
03:49This is much more complicated than it seems.
03:51I thought this one was going to be an easy one.
03:53There we go.
03:56And then we start with a simple syrup and put in the bourbon.
04:06I feel very innocent doing this.
04:09And then there was this, I believe.
04:14Some club soda.
04:15Is that right?
04:16Nope.
04:17That was not part of it.
04:19Okay.
04:19Then we squeeze on the...
04:21Oh.
04:22Wow.
04:23I thought you were joking.
04:24That actually did something.
04:26I'm going to go a little bit of this.
04:28And then we have the little...
04:31The little cowl ears.
04:33Oh, no.
04:34That is not what happens.
04:35I do the staring.
04:37You have to come out again ears.
04:39Well, since I started doing the part, you look into the kind of, the legacy of it.
04:43So many people have seen those characters that look like the Batman in like ancient civilizations.
04:49I mean, there's something about that face that's a very deep and primal thing.
04:54It connects to people.
04:55It connects to children.
04:55It connects to adults.
04:56And then the legacy of the movies as well.
04:59I mean, they just got incredibly lucky with how they started.
05:03And the filmmakers who were attracted to the character.
05:08And so they've made so many really, really great Batman movies.
05:12And everybody wants to add to the legacy.
05:14No one wants to be the person who messes it up.
05:16I love Matt Reeves.
05:17I love his Planet of the Apes movies.
05:18I love a lot of his movies.
05:19I think he is incredible at making blockbusters that don't feel like you're being shortchanged.
05:25They feel very interesting.
05:27All performances are really good.
05:29And, um, can't kill a fly on camera.
05:35It seemed like one of those parts that was, it's like climbing Everest or something.
05:39Like you kind of, you don't really feel like it's a possibility.
05:42But I felt something in my heart.
05:43But I really, really wanted to do it.
05:45I think the second you put that suit on.
05:47It's funny.
05:47People can't help but respond to you in a certain way.
05:50Even crew members, they see you turn up to work.
05:52And then when you put the suit on, there's like, everyone's a little bit more frightened of you.
05:56Everyone kind of like stays out the way.
05:58Like, I mean, it's kind of, it's amazing.
06:01Yes.
06:02The old fashioned is definitely.
06:03It even, this one actually looks more correct than the last one that actually looks like an old fashioned.
06:08Feels like something Batman and Bruce Wayne would drink.
06:11I'm sure we'd have a very nice bourbon in the manor.
06:17That's quite delicious.
06:19This is a Michelada with a 1664 for Twilight.
06:26I really like Micheladas, but I've never made one.
06:28I think this is the start.
06:30Yes.
06:31For one what it's called, but you put the lime on the coconut.
06:36I'm ready to wiggle it around a little bit.
06:38And then we pour the 1664 in.
06:43That is wrong.
06:44Yes.
06:46Okay.
06:47First you put the ice in.
06:49This seems to be a more, this seems to be a more appropriate cup actually.
06:53Mm-hmm.
06:54Nice big cup.
06:56I went on a road trip when I was 22.
06:58I was obsessed with Micheladas and we kept stocking off in various different towns throughout America.
07:02Just Googling what the best Michelada was.
07:04There was a little tiny place in Texas and it was by far the best one I've ever had in
07:09my life.
07:09We were sitting outside as a monsoon rainstorm.
07:13I was sitting, having the best times with my two of my best friends.
07:16And it was also the first time I discovered fire ants, which all crawled up my leg and bit me
07:22loads.
07:23I'll always remember my Texan Michelada.
07:25Okay, so do the ice.
07:28Yeah, this looks way better.
07:29This is the way, you don't need a straw if you got one of these things.
07:32The beer first?
07:34Yes?
07:35Why not?
07:37Hmm.
07:40Well, that is really something I haven't done before.
07:43I'm normally very, very good at pouring beers.
07:45That's very embarrassing.
07:47Lime juice?
07:49That's a flag.
07:50This literally looks like I'm doing a chemistry experiment.
07:54Again, not actually how to make it.
07:58Pepper.
07:59Maggie.
08:00Have a bit of that.
08:02Liam Perrin's Worcester sauce.
08:04Ooh, maybe not that much.
08:05I've done something wrong with this.
08:07This doesn't feel right.
08:08That does not look appealing at all.
08:10Everybody has a different way of making Michelada.
08:12I like mine very spicy.
08:14Extra spicy.
08:15There was one thing I did see the other day, which is quite funny.
08:19We're sitting down in the cafeteria the first time.
08:23And I've literally never noticed this.
08:26And for some reason, I go like this on the table to sit down.
08:33I thought it was an elegant, vampiric thing to do.
08:36I think that was what the thought process was.
08:37But looking at it 20 years later, you're like, huh.
08:41It's very strange.
08:42I really love that movie.
08:43I think it's kind of...
08:44I think I would have done it exactly the same.
08:46To be honest, I don't even think I'd be able to do the performance now.
08:50It was so...
08:51Everybody was approaching it so earnestly.
08:53And took it really, really, really seriously.
08:55There was no kind of tongue-in-cheek element.
08:59No one's winking at the audience.
09:00It's very real.
09:01It's strange for a movie of vampire romance though.
09:05I envy my past self.
09:07The visibilities.
09:09I'm going to try it.
09:13It's actually not bad.
09:15It's not a good idea to put it in a jug.
09:18This is a rhubarb collins for one of my favorite movies.
09:21The Room for Romeo Brass.
09:23I saw this movie when I was a teenager.
09:26And it just...
09:27I thought it was so funny and so powerful.
09:29I think the performances are just incredible in it.
09:32You know, the writing's amazing.
09:34Paddy Considine is like legendary in it.
09:37We'll start with a little lemon juice.
09:41Rhubarb syrup.
09:45And then you get some gin.
09:50Liberal sauce.
09:53And then you do a little thing I like to call spanking the minty.
09:59To get the oils out.
10:02And then you shake it.
10:09This is way more complicated than I thought it was going to be.
10:12Oh, nice.
10:15Mmm.
10:16This actually looks delicious.
10:18Did one correctly for once.
10:21Oh.
10:21Oh.
10:23Too soon.
10:27Twist it up.
10:29Oh no.
10:30Oh.
10:30Oh, it's all...
10:31It's all going downhill.
10:33Oh, that still looks okay.
10:35I'd buy that.
10:36It's just one of those movies where I've just kind of...
10:38I just remember so many parts of it so clearly.
10:41When I was younger, like, I used to watch it all the time.
10:45It's like kind of my, like, Anchorman.
10:46It's also one of the only movies that says the phrase roly-poly in it.
10:51And no one ever really knows what you're talking about in America when you say roly-poly.
10:53It's like a forward roll.
10:54I literally learnt when I was doing Tenet.
10:59How to do a roly-poly to move up three months.
11:01Yeah, when I went into Batman afterwards.
11:03And they're like, so what sounds you comfortable with?
11:05I'm like, need me to roly-poly anywhere?
11:06I can do like 50 in a row.
11:08If you need Batman to like roll down the street, I'm down.
11:13That's actually delicious.
11:15This is a really good drink.
11:16Whenever they come out of this car, I'm like, this is my kind of thing.
11:22This is a Shandy for the Big Blue by Luc Besson.
11:26This one seems about the only one I can do hopefully correctly.
11:33Oh, I've already messed it up.
11:35Oh, yay, yay.
11:37Okay, take two.
11:40Yeah, this is, instead of just doing it with lemonade, I do it with lemon juice, sweetened lemon juice.
11:45Yes.
11:47And club soda.
11:51Because it's nicer.
11:55Oh, that already looks delicious.
11:58Let me put a little lemon on it.
12:04Delicious.
12:06I kind of saw it around about the same time I saw Room for Romeo and Brass, like kind of
12:10late teens.
12:11It's sort of about competitive freediving, but it's a love story.
12:16It's not really an unrequited love story, but it's, you know, the main couple don't end up together at the
12:22end.
12:22I was extremely moved by it.
12:27I mean, I met Luc Besson years later and he was like, yeah, that's my story.
12:29I always just thought I was a dolphin.
12:31And I thought it was one of the sweetest things ever.
12:34And I really, he said it with such deep meaning.
12:36I think he really, he really did think that.
12:40This is a pickle margarita for the exorcist.
12:44Okay.
12:46So we put some tamoy on it.
12:49It's delicious.
12:50Tart and spicy.
12:51Now I get a different ice thing.
12:53Yes.
12:54So we start with the pickle brine.
12:57Put it in here.
13:00Actually smells delicious.
13:02I'm going to really like this one.
13:03Lime juice.
13:05Some triple sec.
13:07A little tequila.
13:11I'm going to spill it everywhere.
13:18Smells delicious.
13:19Smells like those potato chips.
13:21My thingy.
13:22There it is.
13:24I think this is correct.
13:30And do a little slice of lime.
13:36And a little pickle.
13:40So it's quite nice.
13:42Pickle margarita.
13:43Pickle margarita.
13:47That's dope.
13:49I can't believe I just said that.
13:50I saw it for the first time around at my friend's house when I was at school.
13:53We were having a sleepover.
13:55It was a time when all boys liked to light each other on fire with deodorant.
13:58Kind of really heightened the experience for me.
14:00Whenever anyone fell asleep, they got flamethrowed.
14:03And I think I saw it properly when I was about 16.
14:08And thinking that it was just incredible.
14:10And I just thought there was something.
14:12I've seen it so many times throughout the year.
14:14It's probably my favorite movie.
14:15I just love how it makes you believe in the supernatural.
14:19And you can feel the filmmakers just give so much credence to every single level of it.
14:24I love the opening, 45 minutes.
14:26The very opening in Iraq is incredible.
14:29I just think it's beautiful.
14:30I think every performance is perfect.
14:31And it's the coolest movie ever.
14:33You have to completely abandon your own whole sense of self in order to save your child.
14:40I just think it's really powerful.
14:49I hope you'll enjoy these drinks at home.
14:52If you make them properly, not like how I made them.
14:54And enjoy the movies.
14:56See you soon. Bye.
15:00A toast.
15:03I already feel wasted.
