00:02Serving up lunch on a day of high demand.
00:06Dedicated volunteers are helping feed those doing it tough at the Hutt Street Centre.
00:11But high prices at the Bowser have led to a 15 to 20% drop in those donating their time.
00:17The ones that have pulled out have said to us very specifically it's because of the ongoing fuel crisis that
00:22they just can't afford the petrol to get here.
00:24It's cause for concern for the service, which has seen demand for support skyrocket since COVID.
00:30They want to see public transport made free for volunteers.
00:34With volunteers starting to drop off and more and more people seeking support, it's a really troubling time.
00:39The state government says catching public transport has always been cheaper than driving.
00:44Instead, it's turned its attention to truckies, loosening regulations to help the industry save fuel.
00:50The changes include allowing trucks to take heavier loads on more pre-approved routes and carry different types of livestock
00:58on the same vehicle.
00:59Which means products can get to market quicker, more efficiently, but more importantly cheaper.
01:05The Federal Energy Minister says nationally we have 39 days of petrol and 29 days of diesel in supply.
01:12And further deliveries have now been locked in well into May.
01:16Here in South Australia there are five servos without unleaded and seven without diesel.
01:21Prime Minister Anthony Albanese jets off to Singapore on Thursday to meet with his counterpart there,
01:27with fuel security top of the agenda.
01:29And we'll continue discussions on securing our trade in petrol, diesel and LNG.
01:35In the meantime, motorists will continue to feel the price pressure as the war in Iran goes on.
01:42Thanks.
01:43I'm having a nice day for the new world to catch up on Stephan欠재.
01:43We'll see both of our things.
01:43If we have a nice day, please, take the time to follow.
