00:00I mean, that was quite the first game in football, man.
00:02Yeah, I mean, listen, obviously we scored. It's a really good goal, actually.
00:08We spoke before about, you know, crossing into the box, trying to cause a little bit of chaos.
00:13And then once it gets into the box, then we watch the move and we're back.
00:16And then, yeah, I just feel like we just dropped off a little bit, which sometimes is normal when, you
00:20know, it's a quick turnaround.
00:21We've always played a lot of games, you know, and that's why, you know, at any level, really, the second
00:26goal is so important.
00:27And then they got a little bit of momentum and they managed to get back in the game, score and
00:31score again.
00:32But the boys showed great characters, to be fair. And I said to them after the game, I said,
00:34because there's been a lot of noise around the club the last few days, it's probably different for the players
00:38to feel with.
00:40But to come back into the game like they did and actually towards the end of the game looked like
00:44a great team,
00:44which I think could have won. You know, that's, I mean, that mentality.
00:49Yeah, because Tim Jack Merle must have been destroyed, obviously, for giving away that own goal.
00:53But again, particularly, he showed great character as well.
00:55Yeah, but it doesn't matter. I think people make mistakes from, you know, at any level who make mistakes at
01:00any sport.
01:01It's the reaction. You know, it doesn't matter if that's the mistake. Of course, you don't want to make mistakes.
01:05But if it happens, it's the reaction. You know, had you recovered from that, then you've done well, showed some
01:09good character.
01:10But it's quite a part of the football, you know, and for me, the most important thing is the reaction.
01:14Obviously, 3-1 down, 20 minutes to go. The team had just got to keep their heads.
01:18And again, the substitutions came on and made a massive difference.
01:20In particular, Keane Pen, obviously, coming on bold with both goals.
01:23Yeah, Penner, yeah. I said to him, you remind me of Raheem Sterling.
01:26When you move and stuff, it's an unbelievable finish. You know, it's a good finish.
01:29A little bit of fortune, of course, with a ricochet and that's it. You've got to stay calm.
01:32I said to the players as well, I said the difference. Once you just believe and you stay calm and
01:36you actually play,
01:38you know, there's so many positives that you can take out of the game.
01:40And going forward, you know, I think if we can show that sort of, like, composure and that belief when
01:44we play,
01:45you can take more chances. We've got this, there's a lot of quantity in this team.
01:47You know, the team could have gone and won at the end. It was there for the taking, but there's
01:51just so much belief
01:53and that must give you so much confidence going forward now.
01:55Yeah, I'm even more excited about this challenge. You know, even more excited.
01:59Once you get to know the players, I mean, at one training session, to be honest.
02:03Once you get to know the players and what I've seen today on reflection, it just really excites me in
02:08that.
02:08Because I've said all this belief. I had periods throughout my career where, you know,
02:12sometimes you're not playing as well and stuff like that when you're not in the team.
02:14And all of a sudden a new manager comes in and then sort of like, everyone's sort of like,
02:17sort of like, playing, even playing field and that.
02:20But, yeah, on reflection, of course, there's stuff that we need to improve on.
02:23But I think overall, the reaction from the players, the belief that they showed towards the end,
02:29was really good.
02:30Can I just ask what the day was like on a whole for you?
02:33Because it's the day you must have dreamed of for so many years.
02:36You've been a manager, is it everything you sort of imagined?
02:38Yeah, blood pressure is like that.
02:42Yeah, of course, it's just so grateful, to be honest.
02:46You know, you've always got to be grateful for any opportunity that you get in life.
02:49And, yeah, I mean, you know, I've never felt that.
02:51I've had the luxury to work with anything I've learned in my life at 60%.
02:54You come into something like this.
02:56I've done all the hard work in terms of the badges and, you know,
02:59academy football and all that sort of stuff.
03:01Coaching, being on the grass, waiting for the cameras for this moment.
03:03So, once you get the moment, you have to embrace it and enjoy it every moment.
03:07But it excites me even more because obviously the players are on the ground.
03:10I won on the fans as well.
03:11That actually was absolutely incredible today.
03:13Yeah, I just want to fan the fans.
03:15You know, the fans are so important.
03:16I've always known the sort of like the importance of the fans and, yeah,
03:22the sort of like, like I said, the love that I've received by the fans.
03:25Even in the lounge there, to be honest, didn't win quite as I should have won.
03:28But even in the love of the fans, you know, today in the stand, in the lounge.
03:32It's just so humbling.
03:33Yeah, I'm happy for you.
03:33I mean, it's a busy time here again to come pick and fast.
03:36It's on to Braintree on Monday where I hope you love your first wheel in charge.
03:39Yeah, man, all it is now is for the players to be professional.
03:42For the players to recover as quick as they can.
03:44Like I said, it's a quick turnaround.
03:46There's so many games, which is not easy.
03:48But once you recover, in terms of your sleep and your hydration and all the protein,
03:52all the stuff that, you know, that's probably boring, but you have to do it right.
03:55Once you do that right, then you can put in those levels of performances.
03:59Well, Jermaine, it's a pleasure to speak to you for the first time.
04:00And I wish you ever success at Wojn.
04:02Thank you, man, I appreciate that.
04:04Jermaine, come on for talks.
