00:01Craig, 1-1 draw against Orchangham. You had so much pressure in that second half, really sort of put them
00:05under it there. Thoughts on that?
00:07Yeah, look, we asked the lads at half-time and wanted to see 45 minutes of sustained pressure and sustained
00:13attacks.
00:14We got that in abundance. We asked them to put the ball in the box when it comes back out,
00:18recycle it, go again, make them defend, create chances.
00:22We did that for 45 minutes and obviously got our goal but probably deserved more.
00:27Yeah, I guess that's the only sort of frustration, really, is that you didn't get the winner that you probably
00:30really deserved, I guess.
00:31Yeah, you know, even header at the dying seconds there, just a bit cleaner contact, sort of lacked a little
00:37bit of quality in the final third,
00:39just for either the right decision or the right action.
00:44So, yeah, that's the only disappointing thing. But look, we asked them to be on the front foot and keep
00:49them under pressure and we did that.
00:51So, you know, sometimes it's not easy to plan against 10 men when they're going to sit behind the ball,
00:55especially when they've got a lead to hold on to. But, you know, you can't say we didn't create anything
01:00in that second half.
01:01Yeah, I was going to say, they had the red card when they were 1-0 up, so they did
01:04have that to hold on to and they really did bank in.
01:06And it's not easy, but as I said, you did create plenty, didn't you? So the chances were there.
01:10Yeah, you know, we've all been in games and been part of games where teams have gone down to 10,
01:15sit in and frustrate you and don't give you a lot.
01:18But like I said, we created loads and loads. Just the only downside of it was we didn't put another
01:24one in the net.
01:25Jamie Andrews off the bench, he gets equaliser. Matt Ward sort of cuts inside, plays it to him and then
01:29he rifles it right into the roof of the net. Good finish.
01:31Yeah, you know, Jamie's great at doing that. He's got great legs to get forward and make runs in behind
01:37from midfield.
01:39And he arrives in the box well. So, yeah, I'm really pleased for him because he's been one of those
01:44who's really worked his socks off for us over the last month.
01:47And, yeah, he deserved that goal. Joy for both wingers in the second half. Matt Ward and Joe Gabode causing
01:53problems down both flanks there.
01:55Yeah, you know, they both again have been brilliant, you know, the last month they've caused full backs problems, you
02:00know, every game.
02:02Ward probably wasn't at quite his best in the first half, but then, you know, showed his quality in the
02:07second half.
02:08You know, their right back had had enough of him by full time and probably same with the left back
02:13on the other side.
02:13So, yeah, full credit to them. We asked them to be positive, you know, go and commit the full back,
02:18go and get shots, go and get crosses in.
02:20And they did that again.
02:22Obviously, you're still very much going to be part of the coaching team going forward.
02:24But that's at the end of the sort of interim spelling charge for yourself, Jake and Dale.
02:27But it's been really successful, hasn't it? You know, 16 points from nine games, you've flown up the table into
02:31that top half.
02:33I presume you've sort of had a word with the players now, but must be sort of really proud of
02:36that sort of body of work.
02:37Yeah, 100%. I mean, you know, I said to Jodie when we took over, look, all we can do is
02:42try and make your job as easy as possible
02:43and giving the club time to make a decision. And we could do that by winning games of football and
02:49get us up the league.
02:49Because I think we were sort of 17th when we took over and sort of up to 10th now.
02:53So, you know, we've done what was arse of us. And yeah, look, really pleased and really proud to lead
02:59this club over the last month.
03:01Yeah, and I'd say obviously you're going to be still very much part of it going forward.
03:04Jermaine Defoe coming in with Paul Bracewell as well. Obviously, he's a huge name in football.
03:08It's obviously brought a lot of eyeballs, I guess, to Woking, doesn't it?
03:12His first management job. He'll obviously have some ideas. I presume you've met him now.
03:16And obviously you'll be able to pass on obviously everything you know as well.
03:19Looking forward to working together?
03:20Yeah, look, really looking forward to working with him. I met him both this afternoon.
03:24He's got really good people, you know, want to work hard, want to help move the club forward.
03:31You know, obviously he's got a big name in football and, you know, hopefully it's going to attract players who
03:37want to play here
03:38and people who want to come and watch and, you know, excited to work with him on his journey.
03:42And so you've had a really good spell recently and presumably now sort of towards the end of the season.
03:46You know, you want to keep that going, sort of finish as high as you can and really build momentum
03:49into next year.
03:50Yeah, that's it. You know, we wanted to, when we took over a lot, thought, right, let's get in the
03:55top half as quickly as possible.
03:57You know, we sort of flirted with the idea of playoffs a little bit.
04:00I think the South End result, if we'd have hung on to that, we would have been in still with
04:04the wish out of that.
04:06But look, now we've got to, you know, try and finish as high as possible, but let's go and rope
04:11in the night for the minute.
04:12And obviously a real quick turnaround now to Eastleigh here on Good Friday.
04:16Yeah, look, the game's been coming thick and fast this month.
04:19You know, we've had not a lot of training, there's been a lot of recovery, then preparation, recovery, preparation.
04:25You know, it's going to be the same again this week.
04:26So, you know, the lads are flying at the minute.
04:29They'll be full of confidence going to those two games as well and no reason why we can't go and
04:33pick up six points.
04:34And so obviously you're still very much part of it, but presumably you've had a bit of a taste now,
04:37sort of interim management.
04:38Sort of giving you a taste of what that role sort of all entails.
04:40Yeah, look, I think I've always thought to myself management's not been the idea pathway that I'll go down when
04:46I finish playing.
04:48But I sort of said to myself, this is the only way I'd give it a go if I got
04:51put into an interim role and sort of got a taste for it and see how I felt about it.
04:55And, you know, I think the last month has proven that one, I can do it if I want to,
05:00and two, that, you know, enjoy pushing myself and challenging myself.
05:05And, yeah, you never know, it could be an option one day.
05:08I think they could have gone wrong with them.
05:08But I agree with you.
