01:05Oh! Oh, I love you. Please enjoy yourself.

01:10to The Tonight Show!
01:13This is it. We're here. We made it.
01:16Thank you for watching at home.
01:17Well, guys, the weekend's almost here.
01:19And it's going to be a big one for movies.
01:21Yeah, you got the Melania documentary.
01:27And you have the new Rachel McAdams film, Sent Help,
01:30which, yeah, which, fun fact,
01:32was actually the original title of the Melania movie.
01:39That's right.
01:40Tonight was the official premiere of the Melania documentary
01:42at the Kennedy Center.
01:44Right now, Trump is encouraging everyone to see it in IMAX
01:47so his hands look regular size.
01:50But critics are saying the film isn't great.
01:53I'm not saying it's bad, but after the movie,
01:55Trump took his name off the Kennedy Center.
01:57He's like that.
01:59Some celebrities went to the premiere tonight,
02:01including Dr. Phil,
02:02former New York City Mayor Eric Adams,
02:04and the Krizzly family.
02:08It was the first red carpet
02:09where the paparazzi took selfies.
02:15Guys, Congress has been negotiating with the White House
02:18about passing a budget bill
02:19to avoid another government shutdown.
02:21It's coming down to the wire.
02:22Here's what some lawmakers had to say about it.
02:24First, Senator Cory Booker said,
02:26we need to work together and get this done.
02:28All this fighting is getting old, man.
02:32And Senator Chuck Grassley said,
02:34did someone say old man?
02:35Sorry, I thought you were talking about me.
02:37Anyway, avoiding the shutdown
02:38is number one on my checklist.
02:40And Senator Roger Marshall said,
02:42did somebody say chicklets?
02:43Sorry, I thought you were talking about me.
02:46Anyway, if you want to reach across the aisle,
02:49come on over.
02:50And Senator Ed Markey said,
02:51did somebody say comb-over?
02:53Anyway, I love to talk.
02:55I just want to vent real quick, dummy.
02:57And Senator John Kennedy said,
02:59did somebody say ventriloquist, dummy?
03:01Anyway, I hope they stop demeaning others.
03:05Then Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro said,
03:07did somebody say K-pop demon hunters?
03:09Anyway, we can't keep yelling bleeps
03:11and banging heads.
03:12And Senator Jerry Moran said,
03:14did somebody say fell asleep in a tanning bed?
03:16Anyway, I'd rather be golfing.
03:18Work's been bland.
03:19Give me a Callaway.
03:20And Senator John Ossoff said,
03:22did someone say Kirkland brand Timothy Chalamet?
03:29Anyway, we should split off as a two-man group,
03:32like a shake-up.
03:33Then Senator Mark Kelly said,
03:35did someone say blue man group minus makeup?
03:39Anyway, everyone just needs to back down.
03:41Don't act up and stay mellow, bro.
03:43Then Senator Mark Wayne Mullen said,
03:45did someone say background actor on Yellowstone?
03:47Anyway, I blame the other side.
03:49It's been botched.
03:50They cheated privately.
03:51And finally, Senator Patty Murray said,
03:53did someone say binge-watch heated rivalry?
03:57They're having trouble.
03:59They can't hear each other.
04:00So they're having trouble.
04:04Well, people are talking about this.
04:07The second major winter storm in a week
04:09is headed for the East Coast.
04:12It is a weather phenomenon
04:15experts are calling January.
04:19Last week, it was winter storm fern,
04:21and now it's bomb cyclone.
04:24Right now, winter storm fern is like,
04:26how come you get to be a bomb cyclone?
04:27I'm not going to be winter storm fern.
04:31Well, some sports news.
04:32This is going viral.
04:33A Super Bowl promo image from September
04:35featured famous players facing the trophy, right?
04:38And if you zoom in,
04:39the two players closest to the trophy
04:41just happened to be
04:42Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold
04:45and New England Patriots quarterback Drake May.
04:48Ooh.
04:49Now, some fans are saying
04:51this is proof of a conspiracy
04:52and that this Super Bowl matchup
04:54was all scripted in advance.
04:55It's obviously ridiculous,
04:57so I'm not going to dignify it with a response.
05:01But I do want to talk about
05:03a different part of the picture.
05:05Now, if you look closely,
05:07you'll see that under the Golden Gate Bridge,
05:09that's the sea.
05:10And on the other side, that's a hill.
05:13It's a sea that's at a hill.
05:16Sea at hill.
05:18Sea at hill.
05:19Stay with me,
05:20because I'm just getting started.
05:22In the foreground,
05:24you see burro, right?
05:26Burro, without the W, is burro,
05:29which is another word for donkey.
05:33What sound does a donkey make?
05:34Oh, that's right.
05:35Hee-haw.
05:36Now, take that hee-haw
05:37and add the sea and the X
05:39from up on that hill.
05:41What do you get?
05:42Sea haw-ex.
05:45Sea at hill.
05:47Sea haw-ex.
05:49Sea at hill.
05:50Sea haw-ex.
05:51Wait, wait, wait.
05:52Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy.
05:53Wait, I just realized something.
05:55Oh, you did?
05:55What's that?
05:56Okay.
05:56So if you look closely, right,
05:58at the original picture,
05:59you'll see the numbers
06:004,
06:0221,
06:0413,
06:05and 2.
06:06So if you align those numbers
06:08with the corresponding letters
06:09of the alphabet,
06:09the results describe
06:11this entire conspiracy theory.
06:14D-U-M-B.
06:16Dumb.
06:17You're dumb.
06:19Oh, my gosh.
06:20I really am.
06:22Thank you, Quest.
06:23You cracked the code.
06:30And finally, this week
06:31was the Real Housewives
06:32of Salt Lake City reunion.
06:36And it got pretty heated.
06:38There was a lot of drama
06:39between Lisa and Heather.
06:40Now, if you missed it,
06:42don't worry,
06:42because I'm going to reenact
06:44that scene with actual lines
06:45from the show.
06:46And here to help me to do it
06:47is the one and only
06:48Liam Neeson.
06:57Encouraging?
07:12Thank you, Jimmy.
07:13Tonight, I'll be playing
07:14the role of Lisa,
07:16a business owner
07:17who is being accused
07:18by Heather
07:19of leaking gossip.
07:21And I'll be playing Heather,
07:23a med spa owner
07:25who is accusing Lisa
07:26of leaking gossip.
07:28Now, let's sit here
07:29and get ready to go.
07:38I felt very alone
07:39and I wanted
07:40to go home.
07:42It's like
07:42what you guys do
07:43is wrong.
07:44I was like
07:45crying.
07:47What you do
07:48is wrong, too.
07:49You leaked gossip.
07:51No,
07:51I didn't.
07:52And I'm falsely accused
07:54by you all the time.
07:55No,
07:56you weren't falsely accused.
07:57I was falsely accused.
08:00I accused you
08:01of what I felt was true
08:02and I still believe
08:03it's true.
08:04What you feel
08:05and the truth
08:06are two very
08:07different things.
08:08Well,
08:09I think it's true
08:09and I still love you
08:10and I still want
08:12to be your friend,
08:12which is astonishing.
08:13Well,
08:14I don't know
08:14if I want to be your friend
08:16if you think it's true.
08:18I do think it's true.
08:19I think it's true
08:21that you leaked gossip
08:22and I gave you the receipts.
08:24But if you're going to go there,
08:25I'm going to go there.
08:26I was sharing my feelings.
08:30But now it's about
08:31your feelings.
08:33I'm done.
08:35I'm not going to take
08:36accountability
08:37for effing
08:38I don't do.
08:41No,
08:43that's the end of the story.
08:44I'm not going to be
08:45saying I did something
08:46I did not do.
08:48Okay,
08:49but you did it.
08:51Oh my gosh.
08:53I just,
08:54I'm done.
08:55I'm done.
08:56I'm done.
09:07Liam Neeson,
09:08everyone.
09:11We have a great show.
09:13Liam Neeson is here.
09:15Patrick Dempsey
09:16is joining us.
09:17NBA legend
09:18Reggie Miller
09:18is here.
09:19We have a great
09:19setter for Mick Thune.
09:21Stick around.
09:21We're talking to Liam
09:22when we come back.
09:30So you know what
09:31that means.
09:32Woo!
09:34Woo!
09:49Our first guest
09:50stars in the new film
09:52Cold Storage,
09:54which opens in theaters
09:55February 13th.
09:56Please welcome
09:57Liam Neeson!
10:00To a cold event
10:11That's how you do it.
10:12Come on!
10:14Feel the love!
10:17Liam Neeson,
10:18welcome back to the show.
10:19I always love having you on.
10:21Thank you for letting me do that.
10:22Me too.
10:23I want to say congrats to you
10:24because since the last time
10:25you've been on,
10:26The Naked Gun came out
10:27and made over $100 million
10:29at the box office.
10:31You crushed it.
10:32You crushed it.
10:33Okay, number one movie
10:34on Prime Video.
10:36How did it feel to do that?
10:37It was a real comedy.
10:39Um, well, I'm glad, though.
10:41You know, I gave people
10:42a few giggles, you know?
10:43Yeah.
10:43There was a genre
10:44I'm not entirely comfortable in.
10:45You were fantastic in it.
10:47Oh, my gosh.
10:48It crushed.
10:49Is there any talks
10:50of a sequel?
10:51No.
10:52Okay.
10:53There you go.
10:54There you go.
10:55Maybe it didn't make
10:56enough money.
10:57Yeah.
10:58Yeah, I think there
10:59should be a sequel.
11:00You were so good.
11:00I mean, so deadpan.
11:01Good cast, yeah.
11:03Yeah, but you were perfect.
11:04I was reading somewhere
11:06that you're into cold plunges
11:07now, and I want to ask you,
11:09are you okay?
11:11And why would you do that?
11:13This is where you get
11:14in the bathtub with the ice?
11:15We have a barrel.
11:17A barrel?
11:18Full of ice-cold water.
11:20Yeah, my son's got me
11:22into it a few years ago.
11:23It's a new thing.
11:23It's Wim Hof.
11:24Have you heard of this guy?
11:25Yes.
11:26Wait, did you do the Wim Hof?
11:29You did that?
11:29Kind of, yeah.
11:30The breathing and all that stuff.
11:32I did that once, just a free,
11:33because one lesson came for free.
11:35Sure.
11:36I did it in my office,
11:37and I passed out.
11:39From breathing.
11:40Yeah.
11:40I knocked myself out.
11:41You can do it, yeah.
11:42Yeah, I woke up.
11:44I had a beard, full growth.
11:46Now I've been asleep.
11:47I've been Van Winkle.
11:48But I was going like,
11:51and I go, this can't be good.
11:53But it's like a natural high,
11:54you know?
11:55Yeah, I did feel.
11:56And it's air.
11:57It's oxygen, you know?
11:58So you go in, you breathe in.
11:59Well, I have a hot tub,
12:01an outside hot tub.
12:03So you look at the...
12:04Heat up first.
12:05Get into the ice barrel
12:07for two minutes, maybe.
12:08Wow.
12:09Get out into the hot tub.
12:10Now it's like I'm surrounded
12:12by, you know, 20 inches of snow.
12:15And strangely enough,
12:16rolling in the snow
12:17is colder than the ice tub.
12:19I don't understand the physics of that,
12:21but it's true.
12:22You get out of the hot tub,
12:23you roll in the snow?
12:24Yeah.
12:24Yeah.
12:26And that's how you look
12:27as good as Liam Neeson.
12:28Come on, that's what I'm talking about.
12:29That's how I'm going to do it.
12:31Do it, Jimmy.
12:32I also wanted to ask you,
12:33because it's very, very, very good
12:35for your immune system,
12:37and it's very good for your brain.
12:38Your brain, right?
12:38Yeah, I read that as well.
12:39I know another thing
12:41that's good for your brain
12:41is gardening,
12:43because I got into it, right?
12:45Yeah, we have one person that agrees.
12:47I got into it this past summer.
12:49I had some decent success
12:51with the tomato plant.
12:52Good.
12:53And really good, good.
12:56It took probably, maybe,
12:58probably cost me like $200.
13:00I got one tomato.
13:02I got one tomato,
13:03the whole thing.
13:04Did you eat it?
13:05Yeah, I brought it on the show.
13:06I made a big deal about it.
13:07I made a salsa out of it.
13:09It was this big.
13:10It probably, it cost me $200
13:11and so much man time,
13:13and I was crying and thinking about it
13:14and worrying about it
13:15and making sure I had sun
13:16and everything.
13:16Beautiful, right?
13:17I loved it.
13:18Is that what you do?
13:19You make vegetables?
13:19You know, I have a walled garden.
13:23We grow a lot of vegetables.
13:25I don't touch them.
13:26I do nothing.
13:27I mean, I eat them.
13:28But I, in season,
13:30I'll plant daffodils
13:32before the frost comes.
13:33I like doing that.
13:34Because these things will grow
13:35and they'll,
13:36especially Carlson daffodils,
13:38they'll last for 40, 50 years,
13:40you know?
13:41Is that right?
13:41Yeah.
13:42Well, that's kind of fun.
13:43Maybe I'll...
13:43That's kind of pleasing.
13:44I'll start doing that.
13:45Just digging, put them in,
13:47cover them up again,
13:48and forget about them, you know?
13:49You don't have to prune them
13:50or anything?
13:51No.
13:52I love pruning.
13:54Doing all this stuff.
13:55Yeah, I love it.
13:56I absolutely love it.
13:57I can't stop pruning.
13:58Good for you.
14:01When you were doing
14:02your blockbuster film,
14:03Taken, you were on our show,
14:05and I remember you told a story.
14:06I don't know if we told it for time,
14:08but I remember someone told you
14:09that they didn't want you
14:10to do the film.
14:11Do you remember the story?
14:12Oh, you know what it was?
14:14It was my driver.
14:15Yes.
14:16And we were shooting
14:18for the first Taken movie.
14:20Now, we did it nearly 19 years ago,
14:22believe it or not.
14:22But we did a week,
14:25week and a half in Los Angeles,
14:26and I had a driver,
14:28a very quiet gentleman,
14:29great driver,
14:31but we were at a stoplight.
14:32We would finish the day shooting,
14:33coming back to the hotel.
14:35We were at a stoplight,
14:36and he said,
14:36Mr. Neeson,
14:38can I ask you a question?
14:39He said,
14:40yeah, sure.
14:41He said,
14:43I was reading your script.
14:44This is the Taken.
14:46He says,
14:47by page 43,
14:49you had killed
14:5026 human beings.
14:55What do you say?
14:56It's just a movie.
14:59Yeah, I didn't realize.
15:00And he was a veteran.
15:02Yeah, that was hilarious.
15:03But I remember...
15:03But it was the way he said,
15:0426 bad guys,
15:0626 human beings.
15:08You're like,
15:09no, you've got to watch the movie.
15:10We'll get to the end.
15:11You'll be rooted for me.
15:12Trust me.
15:12Yeah, yeah.
15:13Let's talk about your new movie,
15:14Cold Storage.
15:16You got to work with
15:17our pal Joe Keery
15:18from Stranger Things.
15:20Steve Harrington.
15:22He's great.
15:24And he's very funny
15:25in the film as well.
15:25He's very funny.
15:26You know something?
15:28He is the modern-day
15:30Cary Grant, I think.
15:32You think so?
15:32He can combine drama
15:34with comedy.
15:35He's a handsome guy.
15:37He's got great chemistry
15:38with Georgina Campbell,
15:39who's the other actress
15:40in her show, you know?
15:41Yeah.
15:42In the film.
15:42That's amazing.
15:43He can turn around
15:44and be funny.
15:45Yeah.
15:45Have you seen Stranger Things?
15:48I'm probably the only...
15:50Lie.
15:51Lie to me.
15:52Okay.
15:52I haven't seen Tag...
15:54Five.
15:54I was going to say Tag in Five.
15:56I haven't seen Episode Five.
15:57Oh, yeah, yeah.
15:59Episode Five, yes.
16:00Or Season Five,
16:01for that matter.
16:02Yeah, yeah, yeah.
16:03They've been doing it.
16:04They were doing it for 10 years,
16:05he told me.
16:06Absolutely.
16:07Wow.
16:07Yeah, it's wild.
16:08Do you watch TV?
16:08Do you binge shows?
16:10Sometimes I do.
16:11I've watched, like,
16:13Nordic Noir.
16:17Crime series
16:18that are from Sweden
16:20or Finland
16:20or Norway.
16:21Is that right?
16:22Yeah.
16:22Oh, yeah.
16:23Is there one called, like,
16:25The Ginger Man
16:26or something?
16:27No.
16:28You know what I do, Jenny?
16:30Seriously,
16:31you're asking me
16:31and I can't give you a title.
16:32I finish one,
16:34maybe there's five episodes,
16:35and I go straight on
16:36to another one.
16:37Nordic Noir?
16:38Nordic Noir, yeah.
16:39Wow.
16:41I didn't think
16:41you were going to say that.
16:42I thought you were
16:43going to go
16:44Real Housewives.
16:46But Cold Storage
16:47is a sci-fi horror
16:50with a little bit
16:50of comedy in there.
16:51Jimmy, if I may.
16:53Every time you do this,
16:54every time,
16:54no, wait, hold on a second.
16:55This is,
16:55every time you've been
16:56on the show,
16:56I talk about your project
16:58and I'm excited,
16:59and then you read,
17:00pull out a piece of paper
17:01and you read
17:02what the movie's about.
17:03Yeah, because you're
17:04going to say to me,
17:04tell me in the audience
17:06about it,
17:07and I'll go,
17:07I'm, well,
17:11this helps.
17:12Can I do it?
17:13Yeah.
17:13Do you want any music
17:14or anything?
17:15No.
17:16Inspire me.
17:17Oh, inspire.
17:18Sci-fi, sci-fi horror.
17:20Oh.
17:21Sci-fi horror.
17:22When a highly contagious,
17:25mutating fungus
17:27escapes a sealed facility,
17:31two young employees
17:33joined by a grizzled
17:36bioterror operative
17:40must survive
17:42the wildest night shift ever
17:45to save humanity
17:47from extinction.
17:49Yes!
17:50Yes!
17:50Yes!
17:52I want to show a clip.
17:54Here is Liam Neeson
17:55in cold storage.
17:57Take a look.
17:59Once it starts,
18:00you have between
18:02nine and 16 minutes
18:03to get out
18:04and get a mile away
18:05from here.
18:06Between nine and 16?
18:07The timer duration
18:09is a little unstable
18:10without a metal wire.
18:11Okay, yeah.
18:12What are you going to do?
18:14I'm going to stay up here
18:15and remove any
18:16infected organisms
18:17that try to escape the area.
18:19Remove?
18:19I'm going to kill them,
18:21Naomi.
18:22I'm going to execute people
18:24whose only crime
18:25is that they were exposed
18:26to a deadly fungus.
18:28You want my part of the job
18:30or yours?
18:30Yeah, that's how you do it!
18:33Liam Neeson, everybody!
18:35Cold Storage opens

19:40Ow!
19:42Oh, yeah!
19:44So great to be here.
19:45I'm so happy you're here,
19:47and I can't believe
19:48this is your first appearance
19:50on The Tonight Show.
19:51It is.
19:53I'm so lucky.
19:54I'm very lucky to be here.
19:55I'm grateful to be here.
19:56I'm a big fan.
19:57Well, technically,
19:58this isn't your first appearance
19:59on our show.
20:01I'm going to show you why.
20:02This is a clip
20:02of one of our
20:03Thank You Note segments
20:04in 2023.
20:06Okay.
20:08Thank you today
20:09for being Friday the 13th,
20:11which means only one thing.
20:15It's Patrick Dempsey's birthday!
20:24I got so many calls after that.
20:26You think I called it?
20:26Yeah.
20:27Oh, yeah.
20:27Everybody's like,
20:27you're on,
20:28you're famous.
20:29Yeah, right.
20:29We talked about you on the show.
20:31Yeah, right.
20:31Well, it's a coincidence
20:33because this past
20:34January 13th,
20:35you actually celebrated
20:36your 60th birthday.
20:38Yes.
20:38I turned 60.
20:41Uh-huh.
20:41Uh-huh.
20:43So you know
20:44what that means!
20:46Woo!
20:47Woo!
20:59It's Patrick Dempsey's birthday!
21:07Thank you, y'all.
21:08Oh, thank you.
21:10It's good to be 60.
21:12Happy, happy, happy birthday.
21:13You spent a lot of time
21:14in New York City
21:15over the years.
21:16Yes.
21:17But is it true,
21:17your first time here,
21:18it was a juggling competition
21:20or something?
21:21Yes, I came in town to do,
21:23it was at the Roosevelt Hotel.
21:25It was a talent competition
21:26and I did a three-minute
21:28juggling routine.
21:29Wow.
21:29And I kept dropping.
21:31I kept dropping
21:32because I was so nervous.
21:33But I would come up
21:34with these one-liners
21:35that were really funny
21:36and by the end of it,
21:37I ended up winning
21:38and getting an agent.
21:39No way!
21:40Davina Wells signed me
21:42and my first audition
21:43was for a show
21:44called Torch Song Trilogy.
21:45Wow.
21:46And Harvey Fierstein,
21:47I have to thank him
21:48for my career
21:49because had it not been
21:50for him
21:50and I hadn't done that show,
21:52I would not be here today.
21:53Come on, Harvey Fierstein.
21:54And it was a small town.
21:55Yeah, it was a dream come true.
21:56It was a legend.
21:57Well, the whole world
21:59loves you
21:59from Grey's Anatomy.
22:01Oh!
22:02Whoa!
22:07Yeah.
22:08I think it gets bigger
22:09and bigger
22:10and bigger and bigger
22:11and bigger.
22:11It's incredible.
22:12I think they're on
22:13their 29th season
22:14or something crazy like that.
22:15But I did 11 seasons,
22:17I think 237 episodes,
22:20something like that.
22:20But it's incredible.
22:21The best thing
22:22that's come out of the show,
22:23though,
22:23is I meet so many young people
22:24that have gone into
22:25the medical profession,
22:27which is needed right now
22:28more than ever.
22:28Certainly our nurses
22:29and everything like that.
22:31And that's the thing
22:32I'm proud of.
22:33And we had an incredible
22:33cast of characters
22:35and everything like that.
22:35Do you remember
22:36any of the jargon
22:37that you'd have to learn?
22:38None whatsoever.
22:39I can't remember a thing.
22:39Because it's like
22:40cramming for a test, right?
22:42You get this terminology
22:43and you're like,
22:44what am I talking about here?
22:45I have no idea.
22:46But I know MRI.
22:48I can do that one.
22:49Okay, that's great.
22:49You know, CAT scan.
22:50Okay, this is all good.
22:52And the most important,
22:52stat.
22:53Wow.
22:54Yeah, so that's it.
22:55Wow.
22:56I also,
22:57we love you
22:57from some classic rom-coms.
23:00You're unbelievable.
23:02You're great
23:02in a romantic comedy.
23:04I love you.
23:06Bridget Jones.
23:07I got to say,
23:08Enchanted is one of my favorites.
23:10Oh, yeah?
23:11Yeah.
23:12Oh, yeah.
23:13Amy Adams.
23:14Fantastic.
23:14Amy Adams.
23:15She's brilliant.
23:16She's absolutely brilliant
23:17in the movie.
23:18And this was shot
23:19in New York, right?
23:20Yeah, we shot it
23:20in Central Park.
23:21Great story in Central Park.
23:22Like, anytime I walk
23:23by the fountain,
23:24I always go,
23:24how do you know?
23:26I'm going to jump in.
23:27But we're in the middle
23:28of this shot
23:28and we're getting ready
23:29in between takes
23:30and lo and behold,
23:31David Bowie
23:32walks right between.
23:33Amy's here,
23:34I'm here,
23:34David Bowie,
23:35walk straight between us.
23:36He's wearing denim
23:37and you're like,
23:37oh my God,
23:38that's David Bowie.
23:39The entire production
23:40shut down.
23:41It was like,
23:41he was like,
23:43floated through the park.
23:44Wow.
23:45It was like
23:45a great New York moment.
23:46He's like,
23:47yeah,
23:48I loved you
23:48and can't buy me love.
23:49No, he didn't say that.
23:50He just walked straight by me.
23:51He didn't even notice.
23:51He just walked in.
23:52Yeah, he didn't say that.
23:52Oh my God.
23:53But we were like,
23:53oh my God,
23:54David Bowie.
23:55He's the coolest.
23:56Yeah, he was the coolest.
23:57Absolutely the coolest.
23:57I also want to say,
23:58by the way,
23:59quickly just to mention,
24:00but the Dempsey Center
24:01that you started,
24:03this is in Maine.
24:04Congratulations on what
24:05you've done with that
24:05and how that's grown
24:06and what you keep giving back.
24:08Yes, thank you.
24:13I mean,
24:13it must feel good,
24:14but I mean,
24:15can you explain
24:15what the Dempsey Center does?
24:17Yes,
24:17it was inspired by my mother's
24:19battle with cancer.
24:20She had 12 reoccurrences
24:21of ovarian cancer
24:22over the years.
24:23And what we do
24:25at the Dempsey Center
24:25is we treat people
24:26who have been impacted
24:27by cancer.
24:27We don't treat the disease.
24:28We treat the person holistically.
24:30All of our services
24:31are absolutely free.
24:33So we do acupuncture,
24:34Reiki,
24:35some counseling,
24:36nutrition.
24:36We work on prevention
24:37through survivorship
24:39because people go through
24:40their treatment.
24:41I'm sure there are a number
24:42of cancer survivors here
24:43or people going through treatment.
24:44It's like you come out
24:46of your treatment,
24:47but then you may be cured,
24:48but you're not healed.
24:49And that's where the work
24:50begins to,
24:51you know,
24:52rebuild your life.
24:53And all of our services
24:54are free.
24:55So, yeah.
24:57You go back and...
24:58I go back.
24:59Amazing.
24:59Yeah.
25:00Amazing what you do.
25:01And it should,
25:01I think this should be,
25:02it should be standard care
25:04with cancer patients,
25:05the support that they need
25:06along the way.
25:07Yeah.
25:07Yeah, thank you.
25:09So that's something
25:10I push very hard for.
25:11I love that.
25:12I love reading about it.
25:13And every time I see it,
25:14I go, I love that dude.
25:15I love that he does that.
25:16And you go back?
25:17I go back, yes.
25:17And you do like events there?
25:19We have a,
25:20what's called the Dempsey Challenge.
25:21We want to get people active.
25:22So there's a bike ride,
25:24there's a walk,
25:24and there's a run.
25:25We do it in the fall.
25:26And that's sort of the primary way
25:28we raise money
25:29to make it possible.
25:30We have incredible support
25:31from the community.
25:32Maine is really special.
25:33I mean, they leave you alone,
25:34but if there's an emergency,
25:35they're right there
25:37in a heartbeat.
25:38It's good to get back
25:38to your hometown, too.
25:39There's nothing better.
25:40And I remember as a kid
25:42laying in bed going,
25:42if I ever make it,
25:43I need to do something good
25:44when I come back.
25:46And if I come back,
25:47if I get out of here.
25:48Yeah.
25:50And I was at the Theater of Monmouth
25:51and an actor told me,
25:53a much older actor,
25:53he goes, you know,
25:54never forget where you come from.
25:55And I think that's an important
25:56thing to remember.
25:57Now more than ever.
25:58Yeah.
25:58Yeah, I agree with you.
26:02Let's talk about your new show.
26:03You play a hit man.
26:04I do.
26:05It's so much fun.
26:07Crazy double life.
26:07I like when you play
26:09kind of weird,
26:10like villain, scary people.
26:12Yeah, because, you know,
26:13all the comedies
26:14and everything.
26:14Yes, we know you
26:15as the most friendly,
26:16I trust you,
26:18romantic comedies,
26:18we want to fall in love with you,
26:20your sexiest man alive.
26:21Yes, that's our...
26:22There we go.
26:24Race cars.
26:25Everyone wants to be you.
26:27But then Dexter,
26:28by the way, creeped me out.
26:29Oh, did it really?
26:29Yeah, it was fun.
26:30That was fun to do.
26:31It scared me.
26:31Good, it was great.
26:32Yeah.
26:32I loved it.
26:33I had the best time on that.
26:34Because you don't,
26:35you know, as an actor,
26:36you don't normally
26:37get those opportunities.
26:38Stretch those muscles.
26:38Yes, it was fun
26:39to have the opportunity,
26:40and they brought me
26:41on board for that,
26:42and then that led
26:42to being able
26:43to do this project.
26:44Yeah, memory of a killer.
26:45Memory of a killer.
26:46Yeah, and by the way,
26:47you do actually
26:47some real driving.
26:48What were you driving
26:49in this show
26:49that I remember saw you...
26:50This is a Porsche, too.
26:51This is a Porsche.
26:52It's the EV car,
26:53which is the Gran Turismo.
26:55It's the station wagon,
26:56because we can put bodies
26:56in the back.
26:57It's perfect.
26:57So it goes...
27:00That's why you did it.
27:01That's only at it.
27:02You've got to be always thinking.
27:03You've got to think ahead
27:03as a killer.
27:04You've got to think ahead, everyone.
27:05What are you going to do
27:05with the bodies?
27:06Exactly.
27:06I want to show a clip.
27:07Here's Patrick Dempsey
27:08in Memory of a Killer.
27:10Take a look.
27:40You've got to be always thinking.
27:52Come on.
27:53Patrick Dempsey.
27:55Patrick Dempsey, everybody.
27:56You can catch a new episode
27:58of Memory of a Killer
27:59every Monday at 9 p.m.
28:01on Fox
28:02and the next day on Hulu.
28:03Congratulations on the show.
28:05Thank you so much.
28:06Please come back.
28:06The best.
28:07The best.
28:07Reggie Miller joins us
28:09after the break.
28:09Stick around.
28:12That's how you do it.
28:28Our next guest
28:29is a five-time NBA
28:32All-Star, a gold medalist,
28:34and a member of the
28:35Basketball Hall of Fame.
28:37Now he's a game analyst
28:38for the NBA on NBC.
28:41Please welcome
28:41Reggie Miller!
28:56That's what I'm talking about.
28:57Reggie!
29:00Reggie, Reggie, welcome to the show.
29:02Reggie Miller, I've got to ask you,
29:04because I want to...
29:06Coming to New York,
29:08fans can be...
29:11can be tough.
29:12I mean, we want the Knicks to win,
29:14and you're too good.
29:16We didn't like...
29:16And then, yeah, no.
29:18Last time I checked,
29:20yeah, we did kind of win.
29:21Oh, my God.
29:22But hell, no,
29:23I love coming back to New York.
29:25Yeah.
29:25The fans and the people
29:28in New York are great.
29:29Yeah.
29:29But you do...
29:30Yes, they are.
29:31You do run into your occasional...
29:33It's really the hardhats,
29:35you know, the people working,
29:37the everyday people
29:37when I'm walking down the street.
29:39It depends on what time of year it is.
29:41If it's not basketball season,
29:44they usually run up and say,
29:45I hate you.
29:46You ruined my childhood.
29:49But I respect you.
29:51If it's basketball season,
29:53especially around the playoff times,
29:55and the Pacers and the Knicks
29:57are going at it
29:58like they have been the last two years,
30:00Oh, yeah.
30:00It's a little NC-13.
30:02It gets a little heated.
30:05Yeah, but here's what I love about you.
30:07You posted this on Instagram.
30:08This is how you walk around New York
30:10when the Pacers were playing the Knicks.
30:12Yes.
30:12Yeah, this is you outside of Radio City.
30:16Okay, you got to understand.
30:18Yes.
30:19It sounds funny.
30:20The Boston hat, I go,
30:21I love you, dude,
30:22because that's the only...
30:23Because there was nowhere I could go.
30:25Of course not.
30:26All eyes were on the...
30:27Look, it was the Pacers, the Knicks,
30:29but I was just calling games.
30:31I wasn't playing in the games.
30:32I had...
30:34Doesn't matter.
30:35You're Reggie Miller.
30:36That was 25, 30 years ago.
30:38Why am I getting dragged into this?
30:40Right?
30:41How's everything, by the way, on NBC?
30:43We're now in the same...
30:44We're on the same team now, right?
30:46Yes, we go to the same locker room.
30:47I don't know what we do together.
30:48Right?
30:49Right?
30:50We hang out with the commissary together?
30:52Let's do it, right?
30:52Yeah, I don't know.
30:53I'd love to hang out with you.
30:54No, I'm excited because, look,
30:56we have a legendary February.
30:59Not only have you got the Olympics coming up.
31:01Yep.
31:01Right?
31:02But starting this Sunday,
31:03Sunday night basketball in America debuts.
31:06Yes!
31:07Prime time.
31:08Oh, it's a big deal.
31:09First game out.
31:10The gate, it doesn't get any better.
31:13Lakers, Luka, LeBron
31:15versus your beloved New York Knicks.
31:18Come on!
31:19Prime time on Sunday.
31:21That's going to be a great...
31:23Oh, East versus West.
31:25Oh, it's epic!
31:27It's epic, yeah.
31:28And then we got the All-Star Game
31:29on NBC in February.
31:31And Kaitlyn Clark.
31:33Kaitlyn Clark will be a special contributor
31:35starting this Sunday
31:37on Basketball Night in America.
31:39That's massive.
31:40Think about it, yes.
31:41Michael Jordan, Kaitlyn Jordan.
31:43We've got everyone.
31:45Dude, you're crushing it.
31:46And you get to hear...
31:51Look, some of my best moments,
31:53obviously, were in the 90s,
31:54were on NBC.
31:55And then I was with that other network
31:57for 18, 19 years.
31:59So it kind of shows my career
32:01has come full circle
32:02now that I'm back in this chair
32:04talking to you on NBC.
32:06Good.
32:07Kid in a Candy Store.
32:08We love you.
32:09You're great.
32:11And I got to say, you know,
32:12you do it all for the kids.
32:13You have a great family.
32:15Thank you so much.
32:16They're gorgeous kids.
32:18Oh, my goodness.
32:18You told me that you're taking your daughter
32:20to a father-daughter dance.
32:21Yeah.
32:22Lennox, the middle one,
32:23she's nine years old.
32:24She has...
32:24It's our first father-daughter dance, right?
32:27And I cannot miss it on this Saturday.
32:29Yeah.
32:30Better show up.
32:31You're a girl dad.
32:32Absolutely.
32:32You've been down this road before.
32:34Yes.
32:35How do I approach things?
32:36Especially, like,
32:37I'm worried about the dancing part
32:38because, like, do I go in
32:40and, like, be cool?
32:41Or I've been thinking of...
32:44There's a dance I want to do.
32:45Like, there's a dance you want...
32:47There's a dance I want to do with her.
32:50Patrick Dempsey was on here.
32:52He was in one of my favorite movies in the 80s.
32:54It's called Can't Buy Me Love.
32:55Absolutely.
32:56Yes.
32:56Okay, right.
32:56It was one of the best.
32:57One of my favorite movies,
32:58and there's a dance scene in there.
33:00It's the African...
33:01I remember that.
33:01The African Ant Eater.
33:02Yes, of course.
33:03I want to do that dance, but...
33:06I don't know.
33:07Let's take a look at the dance you're talking about.
33:09I don't know if this is...
33:10All night, all night, all night, baby,
33:18what's up all night?
33:20All night.
33:21No.
33:22Is that too much for a father-daughter dance?
33:25Tony, yes, I think it...
33:27I think you...
33:28Can you walk...
33:29Help me, like, with the steps and stuff?
33:31Please.
33:32Please.
33:33Please.
33:35We can't do this without Patrick Dempsey.
33:37Wait.
33:39No!
33:41Oh!
33:44Yes!
33:45Oh!
33:46Are we ready?
33:47One, two...
33:49One, two, three, go!
33:58Oh!
34:00Oh!
34:05Oh!
34:08Reggie!
34:10Reggie Miller is officially ready!
34:12Patrick Jones, everybody!
34:14Pat's Reggie this weekend.
34:15I'll tell you how to basketball right here on FBC.
34:18More tonight, your answers are great.
34:36Our next guest can be seen at the City Winery
34:40in New York this Sunday.
34:42Please welcome the very funny Nick Thune.
34:51Oh.
34:56Thanks for being here.
34:57I know it means a lot to you.
35:02I'm a man.
35:05Sometimes I just gotta say it out loud.
35:08To believe it, you know?
35:11I'm 46, but I haven't done a lot of man things.
35:16Like, I've never bought wood.
35:19I've never walked into a store with a ton of cash
35:21and said, hey, where's all the wood at?
35:24So I thought I could change that.
35:26I went to Home Depot,
35:27and I asked if they could help me buy wood.
35:30And a woman said she could help me.
35:35As she was walking me to the wood aisle,
35:37we walked around the corner,
35:38and she said, this is the wood aisle.
35:41And I said, isn't that funny?
35:42The aisle is also made of wood.
35:45She didn't laugh.
35:47I don't know if she couldn't hear me
35:48or what the situation was, but...
35:51When we got down to the middle of the aisle,
35:53she said, what kind of wood do you want?
35:55And I'll tell you what I didn't say.
35:58Morning.
36:01I could have.
36:02It was locked and loaded.
36:03I wanted to say it.
36:05But you don't like the aisle joke,
36:06you don't get the morning wood joke.
36:09You don't like me at my worst,
36:10you don't get me at my best.
36:13It's called boundaries.
36:14I'm a modern man.
36:18I hadn't really thought of
36:19what kind of wood I wanted.
36:20I mean, I don't know a lot of kind of wood.
36:24I know sticks.
36:26That's the free stuff, but...
36:30So I said the thing that came to mind.
36:33I said, I'll take a two-by-four.
36:36And she said, well, how long do you want it to be?
36:41I was like, all right.
36:44You want to play that game?
36:47All right.
36:49Two?
36:52Or is four the length?
36:54I don't know.
36:56And she said, no, the length is actually a third number.
36:59The two-by-four part is just the girth of it.
37:04And it's like, she would have loved the morning wood joke.
37:13But she still doesn't get it.
37:17I said, I don't know how long I want it to be.
37:19And she said, well, what are you using it for?
37:21And it's like, do you want me to buy wood?
37:24I can't tell.
37:24It seems like you're trying to talk me out of buying wood.
37:28I said, I don't...
37:29It's for my house.
37:31And she said, well, what for your house?
37:33It's like, I...
37:35I'm going to add on.
37:39And she said, well, what are you adding on?
37:41It's like, a two-by-four.
37:44We're going to put it in the back.
37:45See if we like it.
37:49And then she laughed.
37:51And I thought, you know what?
37:52It's time to give her the morning wood joke.
37:56And although I'll never be allowed in that Home Depot again,
37:59they said that I was allowed in other locations.
38:05Think about, you know, wanting to be a role model.
38:09Because I'm a dad.
38:11Like most dads, I do have a kid.
38:19And my son...
38:22I'll never forget, when I was young,
38:23I thought, I can't wait till I get older
38:24and I get to wake up earlier than I do now
38:27and make somebody else's lunch.
38:30That I don't even know if he's eating.
38:33But I do it because that's what dads do.
38:37And as I'm making his lunch one morning,
38:39I'm halfway into a peanut butter sandwich
38:40and he comes busting into the kitchen.
38:43And he says, please don't put any nuts in my lunch.
38:48I'm holding a knife with peanut butter on it.
38:51I said, why?
38:53And he said, because I want to eat with my friends
38:56in the nut-free zone.
39:03And it's just like, who are you hanging out with?
39:07Like, when you leave this house,
39:09who are you hanging out with?
39:12So anyway, I packed his lunch.
39:14I put the peanut butter sandwich in there.
39:17Right next to it, I put an EpiPen.
39:21With a note that said,
39:22get ready to be a hero.
39:32That is how you do it.
39:34That is exactly how you do it.
39:37Nick Soon!
39:39Oh, my gosh.
39:40See Nick at the City Winery in New York this Sunday.
39:43We'll be right back, everybody.

40:07Reggie Miller, Nick Soon once again!
