00:03They touch gloves at the silent respect and we're ready for this eight rounder with real importance in the heavyweight
00:11division and we're joined on the commentary table at ringside by the world champion Fabio Wardley. It's a pleasure to
00:19have you with us. You must be looking forward to this. You love these sort of fights.
00:23Yeah, look, these ones are special because for the pair of them with near one identical records on a big
00:31stage like this, a performance, a good performance as well. Make a bit of a statement could really throw you
00:38into the mix of that next clash of guys. You can throw yourself in with the likes of Johnny Fisher,
00:43Dave Allen, those guys. If you come through on the likes of this looking good as well, you could kick
00:48yourself in the thick of it. A thriving division as well.
00:51And you know both well, don't you?
00:53Know both well. I spent time with Mati out in a training camp with Dylan White out in Portugal and
00:58actually probably know Franklin a little bit better. Sparred a lot of rounds with him a good few years ago
01:04now. So both very good in their own right, have different attributes. Franklin very tough, good jabs to the body.
01:11Mati Harris very fleet, but it's very light. I think he's been able to refine that a bit better under
01:17Peter as well with having him in this corner and him being able to just kind of, with that style,
01:23you need someone who's going to kind of just show you where to use it.
01:26But they're not waiting around at all in this. They're getting straight stuck in and it might, it might not
01:34last too long.
01:35Yep, they are, aren't they? First impressions, Darren, as Mati Harris clocks one as Ignatius comes in.
01:41Ignatius, yeah, he just walked onto a nice right hand. It was a short, sharp right from Mati Harris.
01:45Soon for another one, but they comes and Nash with a right hand over the top. At first, the first
01:50sort of 10 seconds, I thought he was going to play out with a battle of the jabs.
01:54You know, Ignatius jabs nice into the body. See that, right? And he just got, as Fabio said, straight down
02:00to business here. Let it lever fly.
02:02Dropping right hands from Harris. I think Sean McAvoy Barry's going to have a job in there.
02:07Yeah, he is. Well, Ignatius knows that he has to style fast. That's imperative. He tries to put the pressure
02:12on Mati Harris.
02:13It is still no questions about that stamina, that fitness. You make it a hard, fast-paced fight.
02:19But he is walking on the shot, so it's allowed in Harris to tee him up with that left hook,
02:23which he's downed with a few times here already.
02:25Yeah, pace with Ignatius is important here. Look, he's done the eight rounds. He's done ten rounds. Mati Harris, this
02:31is his first eight-rounder.
02:33So, yeah, try and pose a question.
02:35Oh, right hand. Both swinging in this first round.
02:40But Harris has landed with a couple of these rights, one round the temple, one slightly round the back of
02:45the head,
02:45but trying to disorientate Ignatius as he comes in.
02:49And he probably has the edge in power with six knockouts on the record.
02:53Ignatius only won, so Harris might not respect the power that's coming back.
02:58And there's an uppercut, and Ignatius takes that well.
03:04This is the thing with the way this fight is going to have to go, because with Franklin, he is
03:07going to have to get up close, make it rough, make it uneasy, and make it a bit gritty at
03:12times.
03:12But with that, he is walking into trouble. There is a style, there is a way of going about that,
03:18and Mati Harris does not seem to be shy in the slightest.
03:21He's having real success in this first round with the right hand, Mati Harris, noticeably so when he has the
03:28room to throw it, and Ignatius just in a bit of a storm.
03:46Nice and light for your double jabs. Look, when you load up, he comes underneath, and he's missing up.
03:54What you need to do, look, now relax and get into it. Do your double jab, faint, what's the work
03:59on?
04:00Yeah, double jab, faint, come to your right, step in, one, two, quick.
04:04Come on, right, come on.
04:06Listen, if you do it, you will see them light, quick shots if you've gotten by now.
04:11But look, don't look for the knockout.
04:17Yeah, really, really good opening round. Some lovely right hands from Mati Harris.
04:23I mean, Nesh has landed a few himself over the top, but I like the way he was dictating the
04:28pace.
04:29He's wasn't smothering his work, Mati Harris. Let's see how this second round plays out.
04:33Yeah, Mati Harris, the much taller man, the 26-year-old, built out of Coventry, originally from Leamington Spa.
04:41Worked with Edwin Cleary, now is with Peter Fury.
04:44And the road was a beauty.
04:48And Ignatius is going to do well, though. He's going to be part of it early in the second round.
04:54The right hand was threatening in the first.
04:56And Mati Harris delivers a statement here at the 0-2.
05:01And are we looking at a youngster with real pretension?
05:06That was impressive.
05:10The promise that Mati Harris has, the smile from Peter Fury, says it all.
05:16This is a duo that have worked very hard behind the scenes.
05:20He's come back from one loss.
05:22He's strung victories together, Barry.
05:24And he looked really good there.
05:27Yeah, Ignatius knew he had to be aggressive, and he had to start fast.
05:31But when you're aggressive, with a puncher like Harris, you've got to keep that upper body moving constantly.
05:36And he didn't really do that.
05:37So Harris was patient, and let him walk onto the shot.
05:40That was a lovely right hand there, Fabio.
05:42Yeah, look, it was a fantastic right hand.
05:44Actually, quite impressive for Mati with his style.
05:47We expected probably him to box a bit more on the outside,
05:50and not get caught up in them kind of close quarters contact.
05:53But did very well on the inside like that.
05:56And like I was saying at the beginning, these two had very similar records.
05:59And a good performance throws you right in the mix with the names of like a...
06:04You could now step up Mati Harris.
06:06I wouldn't be surprised if he shouts for a Johnny Fisher, a Dave Allen, a David Adelaide,
06:11somewhere like that, because it's a performance that warrants it.
06:15Peter Fury's got this guy as well.
06:17Rico challenging Oleksandr Usyk.
06:20It's a huge event in Egypt.
06:23May the 23rd exclusively on DAZN.
06:28Success here for Peter, and good to see Franklin back on his feet.
06:35That was a heavy fall, and he was not going to make that count,
06:39but he's back up, and he's giving a lot of respect to Mati Harris
06:43after the war of words in the build-up,
06:45which I tell you what, it caused some interest,
06:47but that was a great one.
06:48He walked onto it.
06:49It's perfect.
06:50It's fantastic.
06:51He used, look, the momentum of Ignatius to generate even more power,
06:56and it was technically sound.
06:58He was spot on.
06:59He was in a nice rhythm, wasn't he, full flow,
07:01but there was this spite, this aggression that was making him very excited,
07:05in which was a step up, you could say.
07:07Look at the belief, the confidence he's going to get from that.
07:10He's over the Moonbedak victory, and so he should be,
07:13and he's just going to become a better fighter for it.
07:16And he wasn't getting flustered, really, by the pressure of Ignatius.
07:19He was just nice and calm, little lean back,
07:21so he would ever come through the middle.
07:22The left hook was good, and that short right hand was a cracking shot.
07:25And it'll give him real confidence, Fabio.
07:27British heavyweight champion TKV took six rounds to beat Franklin,
07:33and that was done in two, so I know it's different styles, different fights,
07:37but look how happy they are, the team.
07:39Yeah, look, you make those comparisons.
07:41You look to who else your opponent has fought in,
07:44and how else they've been dealt with,
07:46and it's hard not to make those comparisons,
07:49but clearly you can see the influence that Peter Fury has had on him,
07:52and how much it's settled him down in his style,
07:54how composed he was in their moments,
07:57and look, fantastic performance.
08:04Ladies and gentlemen, a referee in charge,
08:06Sean McAvoy puts a stop to this contest.
08:09At 20 seconds of the second round,
08:13for your winner by technical knockout,
08:17Magic, Matty Harris!
08:22Victory number 10, double figures for Matty Harris,
08:28seven inside the distance,
08:29and that was stunning with the right hand.
