00:32You've got two guys who are undefeated, putting their O's on the line
00:35this early in their career.
00:36A lot of times you'll see this much later.
00:39You get more of a prospect-box-like situation.
00:40But on ProBoxTV, you get tested early.
00:43I was just going to say, it's not a surprise.
00:49Jonas Sylvain's the guy who came up with the Boca Raton-Dumbre area
00:53in the amateur program down there over at the Boca Pal.
00:56So many years, I'm going to be a pretty good little pro in the local area.
01:01Yeah, fascinating gym in Delray Beach, Fox.
01:03And they've got bare knucklers there.
01:04They've got UFC champions that train there.
01:06So you see a lot of different styles walking through that gym.
01:09But Jonas has done a lot of good work on that local scene so far
01:12as we're here in central Florida.
01:14He takes the drive up the turnpike as he hits a right hand and then a hook.
01:18The two tied up right now.
01:36Franks and Torrey resets him.
01:37As we saw on the talent tape, these guys physically very evenly matched.
01:49Same height, same reach.
01:50They're both banging away with power shots.
02:09Tests like this early in a career, guys.
02:10Is it you got to go out there and figure things out
02:14and try and get things technically sharp?
02:15Or is it immediately the fight's taken to you?
02:17You got to just work to get the win.
02:19Both these guys have a pretty deep amateur pedigree,
02:21a pretty deep amateur background.
02:23So I don't think there's a whole lot of that.
02:24They're both just understanding the platform they have here.

02:28That's probably why these guys are coming out,
02:29throwing power shots like that.

04:35A lot of power shots, right hands, left hooks, body work.
04:37Not much jabbing.
04:39Martinez swings a right hand down to the body
04:41and a pawing jab from Sylvain.
04:47Both these guys have fought on Pro Box TV several times, actually.
04:52Twice for Martinez, three times for Sylvain.
04:55So, they are accustomed to tough fights.

05:52and also their center position.
05:53But, you know, they forget a lot of times that big fundamental thing.
05:57They're not forcing the other guy to negotiate distance.
06:00They're just giving him the distance he wants.
06:02Which I guess they both want it, right?
06:05Hook lands upstairs as they're very close quarters by Martinez on Sylvain.

06:41You know, they landed some good, clean shots.
06:43But I do believe conditioning is going to play a major part in this fight.
06:46If this is the way they're going to be fighting on my own.
06:48Especially if they are going to the body.
06:50So they've directed them to play, too.
06:52If both guys have knocked to the body,
06:54at least a pace, boom.

07:54Miami Delray is not that very fun. That's a far away like these guys have

08:03Completely dispatching with the jabs and just beating the center ring
08:09There's no no testing above range or even taking a look they got right after it
08:14Neither guy as you guys say seemed too fearful of what's coming back to him
08:18So we have got a lot of action here early on as we're getting set for round three here

08:54You can see Martinez he's an explosive guy he lets those hands go in combinations when he gets the right distance
09:00But also a little bit of holding on the inside as they break up gets a couple shots in on Sylvain

09:07You see the Martinez is looking less and less comfortable on the inside so that's another reason to start using that jab you know
09:13You turn try to prevent that so they can get that distance as often as he wants it
09:18He wants to make gets it. He's getting some good work and he's getting a left hook to the body

09:24You also get the sense Martinez is working harder than he wants to like you said champ if he had a jab he could change the pace change the space
09:32You control the distance better. So he doesn't have to work so hard. Sometimes the jib's not as fancy, but but it's

09:43Tries to take that job there into the body for Sylvain as he goes with a big right hand but swings and misses here in the corner

09:50Certainly seems like there's a shift in momentum
09:52Body language you read between the two Sylvain just looks more comfortable

10:00And also real estate wise you see where everything is being done Sylvain's more in the center of the ring you were seeing Martinez

10:18Jab sneaks through there for Martinez, but they got tied up again
10:31Corner Martinez wants him to touch on the inside when he does have him tied up so it doesn't look like he's just holding which is a smart tactic
10:41A lot of waiting for Martinez if you look at this distance right here is what he's got to get working
10:46There it is counter there and a spin off back to the center of the ring
10:50And here's what you got to establish that jail instead he walks himself back to the ropes
10:53I mean either one of these guys had a jab. It would completely change the fight
10:59So they started to go to work into the corner Martinez answering back
11:04Right through sneaks the right-hand sneaks through for him. I've seen as well over the one-hitter quitter there with the right hand
11:09Well, he can't match Sylvain punch-or-punch at this point. So Bane getting some uppercuts in there

11:18Well, Sylvain a lot of holes in the defense while he is being offensive
11:21So there are opportunities for Martinez to slip some shots in the middle

11:55We see Sylvain really pouring on the pressure while he has Martinez against the ropes
11:59Martinez looking for those single pot shots in the middle, but listen there are holes in the offense of Sylvain
12:04So he was able to land some of those single shots
12:07You guys keep mentioning the jab do you think this is something his
12:13Coaches will let him know and adjust to as the fight goes on or do you think he's probably going with his most comfortable with already off the bat?
12:19I'll tell you what if he's comfortable with
12:22starting to let Sylvain
12:24Get pose himself physically you better start figuring out a different way to be comfortable because he's he's not looked as comfortable the past round round and a half, you know?
12:32Yeah, I'd be very surprised if any one of these guys start flashing a consistent
12:36jab that starts working because
12:38We're already in round number four and that's the thing. Nobody's done it. If you don't work on it in the gym
12:42It's also the nice jab by Martinez and if you don't work on it in the gym
12:45It's actually gonna work against you because you got to have a very jab in order to make it work
12:49Because if your jab isn't varied a good fighter will start timing it as well
12:51So, you know to do all the things that to use the jab and use it properly
12:55You're probably gonna have it's got to be something you work on in the gym. You can't just pull it out on
13:00Big right hand by Martinez lands at Sylvain. Sylvain smiles back as he tries to walk him back to the ropes
13:07See at middle range instead of close range Martinez does land the occasional good shot there, you know, I think he'd probably want to
13:14Assert himself at mid-range. We see Sylvain continues to
13:17Stalk
13:20Giving him no time to rest that's for sure
13:25And you see him Martina is the guy when he does get on his his toes you can see he's a he's smooth
13:30He moves well laterally, but he just can't really keep up with the pace of Sylvain
13:35He's trying to get the jab working now
13:37You see what you're even even this jab right here, which is just simple snappy jab
13:42It's starting to affect a little bit of the the ability to close range for Sylvain
13:46You know something trying to think is when you're trying to think it through to get past that jab that he's talking to see
13:51Martinez is fine a nice
13:53Judge a distance here
13:55Controlling the space much better
13:57Firing before holding rather than before where he was just holding
14:05These two fathers tied up again as has been common throughout these first four rounds
14:12But it does take two to tango guy clenches you you don't have you do not have to accept it
14:16Well, Sylvain's trying to make it work, right? I mean Julie's I feel like Sylvain at the inside
14:20He's still trying to work well much in his whole good good times right hand there by Sylvain over the top of my chin of his jeb
14:30So it makes it too obvious Martina's if this this subtle ways you can smother and hold Martina's I don't know if he's learned those
14:36Makes it very obvious and he's looking for a clinch and a hole and I that's how you get it on the referees bedside
14:41St. Tori's bit
14:45Big left counter hook there by Martinez
14:47Sylvain still answering back as he has the whole fight by walking him down trying to get him into the corner, but they're tied up here again
14:54But you know these different reactions when a guy lands a big shot. Oh really good body shot there
14:59Martinez back straight up to the ropes. Yeah
15:03Right back after that shot snapping jab as he walks backwards and Sylvain walks it down. He's going to do some body work there into the corner
15:11Right hand sneaks through there for Martinez on Sylvain as Sylvain has an up pinned in the corner goes with the right hand up top

15:52Better round for Martinez especially early on did a much better job of controlling the distance firing those combinations but toward the end of the round
16:00Sylvain's stalking pressure forward mentality started to wear on
16:05Martinez corner with a good body shot late
16:10When you have a guy constantly stalking you in a fight is that a mental wear is a physical wear obviously you have a lot of things coming your way with
16:16This with his fists but with that that mental of him seeming like he's controlling the just the ring
16:21What does that do mentally from an exhaustion standpoint guys?
16:23Well, you know, it's really both but if you notice there's the subtle difference between when
16:28Sylvain lands a big power shot of Martinez you see him go straight back with Sylvain comes forward
16:33Yeah, so you got that idea that gonna hit this guy. He's he's still coming. Yeah
16:37That's the thing. I mean if you're throwing only power shots and you're not using your jab and they got to use stalk you
16:43Yeah
16:43I think it can be more mentally debilitating at least if you're jabbing and not a jab going backwards the guy comes forward
16:48You're sort of expecting it. You're looking to walk him into traps
16:50Sylvain and he's been stalking Martinez who's had a
16:56Aside from the last round it mostly been throwing power shots
17:04So then with a nice job to the body after going up top
17:07Yeah, I think something Martinez is starting to jab so it's it's made Sylvain start to get on his jab now
17:12Big right head over the top, but so think gets a little bit out of range there
17:16Yeah, both men actually jam as well here. Where was this four rounds ago?
17:22Usually you start with jabs. These guys are ending the fight with jabs
17:28Yeah, the fight is now at metal distance instead of at that close distance where something has been more comfortable
17:33Let's see who can take charge here at this distance
17:35It's fascinating seeing two guys that seem like they're just trying to see everything that they have throughout an entire fight
17:41They've mirrored their styles as the entire bout has gone on
17:48Also seeing a level that these guys have technically they at this mid-distance you're seeing some of the skill set that they have the movement the firing the jabs
17:56Yeah, that's actually Sylvain was going backwards now, you know, he's trying to draw draw of Martinez into the traps now
18:02When it was usually Sylvain was when there was no jab and he was the one stalking
18:06Now when they've been trading jabs, it's been
18:09Sylvain at center ring. I mean it's been on Martinez at center ring and Sylvain sort of circling the ring trying to set up off the jib
18:19Martinez out of the corner hits a right hand it gets through there for Martinez on top of Sylvain
18:27Straight punch is starting to make Sylvain have to think a little bit though. Martinez is busy
18:31continues to use these straight punches and it's busy enough with them
18:38Right hand on the inside by Sylvain. So again those straight shots by Martinez
18:48With a one-two as he walks Martinez back to the corner
18:51Okay, so they kind of get back into that stalk mode and take away the comforting space from Martinez and there he goes
18:56He's so much more effective like this
18:59He looked good boxing, but the more eye-catching shots I think we're coming from Martinez
19:03But when you're like this yeah, it's much easier to see that
19:06Sylvain is winning the exchanges and it's easier to see if Martinez starts to get uncomfortable as well
19:14Even if you see a good shot thrown by Martinez what is something to heat it back off
19:18He stayed right there and kept kept the pressure on Martinez
19:22Keep it up there. That's back to life physical right here
19:26Right hand by Martinez as these two exchange
19:32Right to the Bells have been the entire bout round five coming to a conclusion there
19:37Oh, no, they spent about two minutes of that run actually jabbing and then they finished the round when they started
19:41They had to make up for it in the last 30 seconds you see a little shimmy from
19:44Sylvain to his corner after that one still feeling confident
19:48No matter what has come his way in this bout
19:56Be fascinated to see how this chess match continues is
20:06We've almost we finally saw a little bit of a different style in that last round but
20:10Got back to more that inside action that was so familiar the opening minutes of this fight
20:15But again hats off to these two guys two undefeated fighters really testing themselves early portions of their career and
20:25Nobody really backing off you can tell if either one of these guys wants to go home with their O taken
20:31No, not at all neither man has really given an inch and very very tightly competitive fight
20:36I'm gonna make sure who's really in control because depends where this fights fought when Sylvain is on the inside
20:45It looks like he's in control when these guys are on the outside looks like the straight shots are winning the day for Martinez
20:51No consistency between either man in terms of taking control of around
20:56Yeah, it's a great point Chris this has to be an unbelievably difficult fight so far
21:00I think to score it's felt very even so you wonder who has the right view on it. What a judge is seeing
21:08What's caught their eye, but certainly it does feel like Sylvain is
21:12dictated where the fight has been as far as
21:14being on the front foot and
21:16Put Martinez back against the ropes, but once he gets back to the action for Martinez has been there
21:21He's too tied up once again, which has been another theme in this
21:31Frank Sintori stepping between them ready to reset them
21:34I like what Sylvain did there made an adjustment
21:36He wasn't allowing Martinez a time up hitting with those little tiny body shots to the inside which they don't look like much
21:42But guess what those things add up especially late in a fight
21:44There's a little snappy body shots on the inside
21:46Yep, because you don't get a chance to take a full breath in because you're getting you're getting touched the body
21:49You have to get the tense up
21:54So yeah, look at the body languages
21:56So Martinez throws a shot Sylvain jumps on him and continue to throw punches or keep that mental pressure
22:00But well when Sylvain throws a shot at Martinez what happens? Martinez looking to hold. He's not looking to you know fight him off
22:06So even the optics started taking advantage of
22:10What the judges see as you see again Sylvain landing the shots
22:14Martinez threw a shot there. Didn't matter. Sylvain kept throwing. What did Martinez do? He held
22:17Those sneaky body shots by Sylvain getting through
22:23And we had mentioned before this could be a difficult fight to score
22:26That's where things like body language mannerisms drink generalship ring control start to matter because if those are gonna be the difference with who wins the round
22:34And ultimately who wins the fight
22:36That's a long run inside by Martinez on Sylvain Sylvain answers like he has been right back to the body
22:47Anytime he gets hit he tries to have an answer for Martinez
22:50Good attempt there up off to the side from Sylvain try to change a little bit of an angle
23:01Another another layer that we have not seen from him yet
23:03A lot of waiting here allowing Sylvain to walk
23:20right up to him
23:22a lot of opportunities for Martinez to dictate as
23:26Sylvain tries to cross that critical distance line just fire right here. Yeah, that's right there. That's where you shoot
23:31He doesn't act. He reacts
23:33Do you think some of the mental fatigue is starting to take its toll on Martinez when he's he's got up there coming in
23:38But doesn't have it in the fire or is he just worried about what could be coming back?
23:41I think this was both. I think it's also as mental fatigue, and I think it's actually physical fatigue
23:45You know the body work from Sylvain which has been probably the most consistent thing from either man tonight
23:50Plus just the physical pressure the mental pressure like you said also we're going to the seventh round of an eight-rounder
24:01Both of these men at the start of this round will be the furthest longest they've ever fought in their professional careers both entering their first
24:10seventh round
24:14Sylvain coming off a unanimous decision win at last july, but that was only a six-rounder
24:23As we get set here for round seven
24:25New territory for both these men
24:34Martinez comes out swinging
24:37But the answer has always been from sylvain to go right back into his kitchen
24:41One of the reasons why those straight punches from Martinez have been so successful in eye-catching is that
24:56Jonas tends to fight pretty tall when he's closing the distance
25:00He's very tall the way he stands when you get hit with those straight shots
25:04You get pushed back very easily your head gets popped up ones like a pezzled spencer
25:08The judges will see that and also when you're not that busy
25:11And guys will shock you surprise you with a snap some snappy shots the straight line shots are the quick it was one
25:16So that you tend to get caught with it. You find a busy guy every once in a while. He's used to a straight shot at you
25:21Uppercut sneaks through for Sylvain on Martinez
25:23He's tied up here, but able to get a body shot through there on Sylvain
25:43Again, Sylvain asserting himself forcing Martinez back
25:47And remember the optics of the judges see here
25:54Hasn't been there in the corner
26:01Get the sense from Sylvain. He's not worried about anything that's coming back at him. He does get hit. He smiles. He walks forward
26:07His jab his way in. He's not deceptive at all as he closes distance
26:16Right hand up top by Sylvain as Martinez answers with a combination
26:20Right hand up top by Sylvain and another one coming back from Martinez. He's back in the corner as it's been the theme of uppercut sneaks through for Martinez
26:29Right there on Sylvain as he stands right in front of him

26:32And that's how we know when they get to the other jump on the pass
26:36That one good body shot again
26:39Three body shot by Sylvain and Martinez tries to answer back with his own
26:43And that one landed so cleanly that body shot because he set it up with a short quick combination of stairs and a dug down low behind the elbow
26:49Oh, good hope for my Martinez, but again look what Sylvain does jumps right back on does not want to get let him get any confidence
26:55And it's Martina's forced to hold as I said earlier
26:58Sylvain assaults Martinez tends to react with holding
27:02While when Martinez gets off some good shots when it's over Sylvain does he tries to walk him back down
27:08It's that mental stress
27:10I'm gonna say I'm impressed with Jonas Sylvain's conditioning tonight first time being in the seventh round still still throwing hard throwing combinations still stalking
27:27Martinez trying to get busy here towards the end of the round maybe to
27:30Steal one of the judges eyes because it felt very much like Sylvain was walking around an entire round
27:36That's kind of been the theme of the corner of this entire
27:39fight so far
27:43The entire fight started close range and these rounds have been ended in a close range
27:54See those final instructions being given to Martinez as we get to this final round
27:59We are one more throw
28:03The eighth and final round
28:06Jonas Sylvain has to be feeling confident though no matter what big shot he's been landed with
28:12He's always answered back with a lot
