00:00the most eye-opening thing about the Yankees start to this season,
00:04unlike last year where it was all about the torpedo bats
00:07and the home runs
00:09as they completely bludgeoned the Brewers
00:12the first series of the year.
00:15And all the discourse was about the home runs,
00:18the torpedo bats.
00:19Fast forward a year later
00:21through the first couple of games,
00:23it's not about the offense.
00:25It's about the pitching
00:27and how historically dominant it's been.
00:29It's about the defense,
00:30which has been an issue over the last couple of years.
00:33The defense has been good.
00:35Pitching and defense.
00:36Now it's early, it's a small sample size,
00:39but perhaps
00:41this Yankee team
00:42will be built different than the teams
00:45that we've seen in the past,
00:46meaning they're not just going to rely on the home run to beat you.
00:49The great pitching, the defense,
00:52throwing a little timely hitting,
00:53that remains to be seen
00:55over the course of 162 and then obviously in October.
00:57But for right now in a small sample size,
01:02this version of the Yankees
01:04is a version that we have not seen
01:06in the Aarons era, Boone and Judge.
01:09And I think that's reason for optimism.
01:11If you're going to pitch like this,
01:13it doesn't matter if you hit
01:14because you're going to mow teams down
01:15with your starting rotation and a strong bullpen.
01:18And it's already helped them
01:19to get off to the start that they've gotten to.
01:23I want to see it for a longer sample size
01:25before we label it something that it's not.
01:29But early on,
01:31this feels like a different Yankee team
01:33than I've watched over the last couple of years.
