00:00Feel like you can make a case the Yankee DNA is changing in front of our eyes.
00:05Okay?
00:06Last year, and we made a big deal about it, and it has carried over to this year,
00:10what Cam Schlittler did to the Boston Red Sox, the team he grew up rooting for,
00:15and then talked trash about after, he had that dog in him, right?
00:19He had that killer instinct.
00:22And Cam Schlittler has followed it up this year by being the most dominant pitcher in the American League,
00:25and he just has a different way about him that we haven't seen from the Yankees.
00:29What Ben Rice has evolved into here for the Yankees, it's another home run last night,
00:33with all due respect, like Tiki said this at the beginning of the year,
00:36he very well might be the American League MVP, which is crazy to picture a Yankee team
00:40that has Aaron Judge on the roster having a different American League MVP.
00:43He kind of feels like he's got a little bit more, now we have to see it evolve in the
00:47postseason,
00:48but he's a smart guy.
00:49Smart guy.
00:49He's an Ivy League guy.
00:50But he's kind of like one of those guys that kills you with the smile.
00:53And Jalen Brunson feels like a guy that would kill you with the smile and then strangle you.
00:57You know, okay, Ben Rice.
00:59You know, we talk about the bullpen and, you know, hopefully call up this LeGranier,
01:03and we'll see if George Lombard, who got hurt last night, comes up there.
01:05But those two guys, and Garrett Cole, you know, has the effect.
01:09No, he definitely has that.
01:10He definitely has that.
01:11And the Yankees missed him a year ago.
01:14What we don't know is, can Aaron Boone be the manager that actually leads his team to a championship?
01:18We'll figure that out.
01:19But here's the other killer instinct they're going to have to have.
01:21The Yankees, and you and I were just going over this pre-show,
01:23with the run differential that they have separating the American League.
01:27Oh, by the way, in comparing to the Knicks, weak conference, weak league.
01:32Oh, yeah.
01:33Boy, does that sound familiar.
01:34Sounds like the Knicks are the East.
01:35Can the Yankees leave?
01:35No doubt.
01:36That sounds very familiar.
01:38Brian Cashman's got to have that killer instinct, too, with the trade deadline.
01:40You know I have been on with you guys these past couple summers
01:43talking about how he kind of, like, half-weighed the trade deadlines.
01:46No, no, no, no, no.
01:47Right.
01:47Whatever you think this team needs, go make sure you have it.
01:51And the young evolution of the young players, they've called up Spencer Jones.
01:54It's a home run.
01:55Man, they did last night.
01:56Again, I could have pie on my face.
01:58They could lose to the Rays.
01:59They could lose to the Mariners.
02:00Maybe they lose to this White Sox team in the postseason.
02:02We have to get to October and figure that out.
02:03They are not losing to the White Sox.
02:04I don't think so either.
02:06They destroyed them.
02:07But also, I'm no longer going to approach this season like,
02:10well, you know if you get there, you can't beat the Dodgers two years ago.
02:13Man, it sounds like the Oklahoma City Thunder to me
02:15with what we heard about the Knicks all year.
02:16The Knicks can't win a championship.
02:17The Oklahoma City Thunder will be sitting there.
02:19And then there came the Spurs.
02:20Hey, Atlanta Braves are a pretty good young team
02:22sitting there with a good record as well.
02:24There are at least enough parallels,
02:26and you know me loving these parallels and cross-sports connections,
02:29that made me realize when I put my eyes to shut last night,
02:33I think the Yankees are the next team that win a championship here in the world.
02:36I mean, it's interesting.
02:37It's one of the two of the…
02:38Interesting.
02:38Interesting.
