01:49for how the masses in this city feel about teams the pistons were not on the radar for more than

01:56decade in detroit and quite frankly neither was the nba i would say that for the better part of a

02:03you tell me if i'm wrong and if i'm wrong i'm not off by much i would say we got

02:07and texts complaining about the nba complaining about the league than we got about the actual
02:14pistons for the better part of a decade and if not we got a sizable number that's close yeah
02:21the pistons this team has turned into everything that the red wings aren't
02:27and in some ways everything that what the red wings culture used to be
02:31pistons don't have a lineup filled with hall of famers but the pistons they're the opposite
02:37of what people used to complain about the nba right the effort is there every night and they go out

02:45expect to win no matter who's in the uniform they thought they should have beat the best team in the
02:50nba the defending nba champions with kevin herter paul reid javante green and danis jenkins starting
02:58and damn it they had a shot at the end of regulation to win that game that group almost beat

03:06our hockey team when everything is stacked in their favor with pittsburgh coming off a grind of a game
03:14the night before playing on the second night of back-to-backs hockey team has a no-show performance
03:20when it means the most same thing happened last week against ottawa when ottawa was coming off second
03:25night of games back-to-back shorthanded having playing with out four of their top six defensemen
03:32and they no-show that night too we we can and we will talk plenty about the red wings and
03:38the doom and
03:38gloom that is but we can also look at the pistons and how the pistons have become what the red
03:46wings
03:46were for the bulk of our career in terms of culture the pistons don't care who's in uniform
03:53the pistons show up the pistons don't care what the league was when we watch opposing broadcasts of
04:01the detroit pistons and i try to every chance i get to hear what's being said and i hear the

04:06themes we can learn from the way this team plays at both ends of the floor that's opposing broadcast
04:11crews our team should play on both ends of the floor the way this team plays this basketball team
04:18they got starters back last night and won the game which is great but i think it's amazing
04:23considering where they were and what the talk was about this team and what the red wings were for so
04:29long in our town and the pistons have become that yeah it's um your comparison i think is very apt

04:36you just talk about the culture of what the team is i mean as far as the makeup is concerned

04:40vastly different vastly that's fine i don't i don't you're not going to focus on that but
04:44this team is uh what i love about this team right now they're on the rise you know this isn't

04:51and this this does not look like a small window you've got superstar players and now it's players
04:59right because we know cade cunningham's a superstar he was having an mvp type season before the collapsed
05:03collapsed lung he's on the bench last night cheering his team on in a questionable sweater and
05:12people are you're loving what what you see because everybody out there is giving it everything
05:16they have the oklahoma city game was looking in retrospect we should have been talking more about
05:21that game they had no business being in that no business and and they were and they played so hard
05:27and and everybody uh and the entire team played well and last night they get some guys back just
05:33clarity to oklahoma city's got san antonio breathing down down their neck for the number one seat they had
05:38something to play for and they had their guys yes and the pistons didn't have their guys but they
05:44don't care they just they see opportunity they see what this season is it they could be in for a
05:52long
05:52ride and they want to be part of that ride nobody wants to be one and done you know they
05:56went through
05:56the playoff experience last year and it's important to taste the playoffs and nothing handed to you
06:01and nothing's been handed this team 14 wins two years ago yep and then come out last year and come

06:10pretty strong last year and and have the the the opportunity to play in the playoffs what they're doing
06:15now is is incredible 55 and 21 and they're doing it with any combination of players they played so
06:23many games this year without key guys in a lineup and it doesn't matter they just get it done and

06:28duran is getting his time to shine and show that you know what he might be a legit superstar as

06:35he's got what nine games now where he scored 30 points or more this season including last night when
06:40he had 31 um missed a double double by by one rebound but you know the team was shooting 60

06:49they shot 57 from three the number one thing that people wanted to address us included it's not just
06:59listeners and it's media members it's it's everybody said the same thing going into the trade deadline
07:04they got to get another score they got to get another score they've got other scorers everywhere guys are
07:09showing up coming off the bench lighting it up could be a different guy every night and the other thing
07:14we said they got to they got to hit three pointers got to find somebody can hit a three they
07:18made their
07:19trade and sent away a pretty popular player to get kevin hurter and kevin hurter didn't do anything
07:26for like the first few weeks of the trade nothing yep and now here it is the last i don't
07:30know eight
07:30games and this guy well this guy's starting to get his stroke back and he was known as a three
07:37-point
07:37shooter but we didn't see it this year look like he had lost his shot and i think last year
07:42as well but
07:43he does everything else right and when you're doing everything else right and you're getting
07:47rewarded for it's almost like you can hear jb pickerstaff saying just keep going you're doing
07:51everything right the shot of fall and the shot's now starting to fall and lo and behold this team
07:58has a roster full of can-do guys yeah and they'll get their stars coming back soon
08:05they're they're absolute superstar i i love where this team is at culture and sports is something
08:10gets thrown around all the time and and i define culture as is something in that locker room where
08:18it raises everybody up and how makes them want to win and what i what i think how that plays

08:22out is when the best players set the tone when the best players set the tone to the rest of

08:29about what's acceptable and what's not when the best players do everything they can to help your team
08:35win the big things and the little things the guys at the bottom of the roster step up to that
