00:00President Trump addressed the nation Wednesday night to offer an update after 32 days of war
00:04against Iran. He asserted that the U.S. is, quote, winning bigger than ever before and the
00:09Islamic Republic's navy is gone and its air force is in ruins. The president assured Americans that
00:14gas prices, which have jumped since fighting began, are Iran's fault and would soon return
00:19to normal. Trump went on to say that the United States was not reliant on oil that needs to travel
00:24through the Strait of Hormuz and suggested other countries who do depend on that oil should be
00:28responsible for taking the critical waterway back from Iran. As for how much longer this all might
00:33go, well, here's what the president said. Thanks to the progress we've made, I can say tonight that
00:39we are on track to complete all of America's military objectives shortly, very shortly.
00:45We're going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks. We're going to bring
00:51them back to the Stone Ages where they belong. Now to the latest on the Christie and Brian
00:58Gnome saga, the scandal you didn't know you needed. Brian spoke for the first time since
01:03it was revealed he lives a double life in the world of bimbofication, a fetish I really don't
01:09want to describe again. In a text exchange with a New York Times reporter who was asking the
01:13disgraced husband of the former DHS secretary for an interview, he replied, quote, I will at some
01:19point. Today is not the day. I appreciate your heart, which is an odd response. Now yesterday,
01:25we heard from Christie's camp. Her rep said the family was, in their own words, devastated
01:30and blindsided by the whole thing. Well, White House reporter Emily Gooden is here in a different
01:36story. Republicans who know Christie Gnome suspect that she and Corey Lindowski may be behind this
01:43leak about her husband. The thinking is they're trying to do some damage and image repair to
01:50Christina herself to make her a more sympathetic character and more like a wronged wife, like a
01:56Hillary Clinton. She's long said to harbor presidential ambitions. And the thinking is this is to try to
02:03distract from all the controversies they had at the Department of Homeland Security and the reports that
02:09the two of them have been having a years long affair. He has been backing her through all of this.
02:14He has been kind of playing a puppet master role behind the scene in terms of helping spread the
02:21word about her reaction and how she's doing. And his hand is being seen as like a Machiavellian
02:27presence in all of this. My jaw is on the floor with that revelation. Now, I also asked Emily about
02:35reports that we're hearing from back in South Dakota from some of Brian Gnome's friends. Brian Gnome's
02:39neighbors have been remarkably sympathetic to him. They see him as a nice guy, a good neighbor. A lot
02:47of them don't believe it. They're questioning if it's AI or somehow faked photos. So the neighbors are
02:54kind of standing by him. You know, he is a longtime South Dakota resident. He never left the state. He
03:01never moved to Washington, D.C. to be with Christie. So they see him as the hometown boy kind of
03:07being bashed in
03:08the national media. It looks like the record-breaking 46-day partial government shutdown could soon be
03:14over. I know. We've been here before, but I think this might actually maybe possibly be the end.
03:19House Republicans appear to have caved and backed the Senate plan to fund all of DHS except parts of
03:26ICE and Customs and Border Protection. Those would be funded in a different way. That plan is now blessed
03:32by President Trump. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune released a joint
03:36statement on Wednesday that reads, quote, In the coming days, Republicans in the Senate and House will be
03:41following through on the president's directive by fully funding the entire Department of Homeland
03:45Security on two parallel tracks, through the appropriations process and through the reconciliation
03:50process. President Trump confirmed his support on Truth Social later in the day, posting, We are going
03:56forward to fund our incredible ICE agents and Border Patrol through a process that doesn't need
04:00radical left Democrat votes and bypasses the Senate filibuster, which should be repealed
04:05immediately. Now, he is, of course, referencing the complicated reconciliation process. It's a kind
04:11of loophole to pass certain budgetary laws, and the president asked for that bill to hit his desk no
04:17later than June 1st. As of Wednesday night, it wasn't clear if Congress was going to come back early
04:22from their two-week recess to pass the first bill, the one that would fund the majority of DHS.
04:27Okay, so to amend my earlier statement, it looks like it's over, but not right now. Now, I've got
04:35the details on Wednesday's Supreme Court showdown on birthright citizenship right after the break,
04:40but while I'm away, do me a favor and leave a comment on this episode. It really helps the
04:44algorithm surface our show so others can enjoy it too. For more on these stories and everything else
