00:009,000 different things can go wrong.
00:02Something as simple as a helicopter flying in,
00:04it gets shot down, all of a sudden,
00:05three more people are on the ground.
00:07Do we have wounded or God forbid,
00:09fatalities and how many more need to go in?
00:10And what kind of a perimeter do we set up?
00:12So it's just contingency, contingency, contingency.
00:14I would just recommend starting from the basics.
00:16Can we find where he is?
00:17How did we find out where he is?
00:18Let's go right to him right now.
00:19I was a Navy SEAL for just under 17 years.
00:23Eight of those years was at SEAL Team 6,
00:25which is the tier one unit.
00:2617 years ago, we took off.
00:27I was the lead jumper to rescue Richard Phillips
00:29from Somali pirates.
00:30And then I was the guy that ended up shooting
00:32Osama bin Laden on that mission, too.
00:34Every special forces soldier knows how to do a search
00:36or combat search and rescue.
00:38And this would be something as simple as,
00:41you know, establishing communications,
00:42however, be by a radio, a simple panel,
00:45targeting a GPS like you would dropping a pin.
00:47And I'm sure they have a lot more advanced stuff
00:49now than when I was there.
00:50And because of air dominance, hopefully,
00:52you want to keep everything simple.
00:54Never talk yourself into an ass-whip and keep it
00:56as simple as possible.
00:57If I was if I was leading this mission,
00:59it would be get on the helicopter with a gun
01:01and a friend with a gun,
01:02fly right to the guy,
01:03get off the helicopter, introduce yourself,
01:05put them on the helicopter and fly home.
01:06That should be simple.
01:07In between those three things,
01:09about 9000 different things can go wrong.
01:12And we've seen it before where something as simple
01:15as a helicopter flying in,
01:16it gets shot down.
01:17All of a sudden, three more people are on the ground.
01:19Do we have wounded or God forbid fatalities?
01:21And how many more need to go in?
01:22And what kind of a perimeter do we set up?
01:24What if we, for some weird reason,
01:26they had different surface to air missiles
01:28that are shooting down the fast movers
01:30that are looking over the rotary wings?
01:32A lot of stuff can happen.
01:34So it's just contingency, contingency, contingency.
01:37But I would just recommend starting from the basics.
01:39Can we find where he is?
01:40How did we find out where he is?
01:41Let's go right to him right now.
01:42Everything that we do is tracked and there's redundancy.
01:45Someone's tracking and someone else is tracking.
01:47Someone's monitoring all of that.
01:48And I'm sure we're at a spot to where the mothership
01:51can run everything as well as in the sky.
01:53You know, I've heard stories of jets
01:54that have drone jets of their own
01:56that do the dog fighting for them.
01:57But under normal flight ops,
01:59there is a rotary wing helicopters out there spinning
02:01with search and rescue on it.
02:03Not necessarily combat search and rescue.
02:05I don't know how it was shot down yet.
02:07I'm still looking at that as well.
02:08It'd be interesting to know.
02:09Anything could have happened and there are mishaps.
02:11And the pilots were separated.
02:13So I mean, that just says what altitude
02:15because when they're getting ejected from an aircraft,
02:18it's not necessarily a steerable canopy.
02:21So high winds, high altitude,
02:22whatever could have happened.
02:23And we know the desert, the weather can jump.
02:25So, you know, that's probably why they separated.
02:27So it'd just be a matter of how many helicopters
02:30you're going to send.
02:30And I would send it as many as we could.
