00:00President Trump has publicly commented on the Iran war and to say he's optimistic would be
00:06putting it mildly. Somebody said on a scale of 10, where would you rate it? I said about a 15
00:12and we're going to continue to do well. And I think if we didn't do it first,
00:16they would have done it to Israel. Somebody said on a scale of 10, where would you rate it? I
00:21said
00:21about a 15 and we're going to continue to do well. The Joint Chiefs General Dan Cain laid out the
00:28accomplishments of the first 100 hours of Operation Epic Fury. They said the U.S. has successfully
00:33hit more than 2,000 targets inside Iran, including 86 percent of the country's ballistic missile
00:39launchers. 20 Iranian naval vessels have been destroyed, one of which was caused by a U.S.
00:46submarine torpedo. And that hasn't happened since World War II. On the flip side, launches of Iranian
00:51attack drones are down 73 percent. Secretary Hegseth made the claim that within days, the U.S. will have
00:58quote, complete control of Iranian skies. Now, both Hegseth and Cain stressed that despite all
01:03these victories, the mission has not yet been accomplished. So what does that look like?
01:09Here's The Post's Washington reporter, Caitlin Dornbos. The goals are to eliminate Iran's
01:14ballistic missile threat, destroy the Iranian Navy, sever Iran's pathway to nuclear weapons,
01:19and prevent Iran's military from rebuilding itself too fast. Now, what that actually looks like in
01:25practice is expanding strikes deeper into the country with a focus on infrastructure and any
01:31remaining missile launchers. Hegseth said that that means the operation is accelerating, not drawing
01:37down. By comparison, he said that the U.S. has already doubled the air power compared to the 2003
01:44shock and awe campaign in Iraq. He said it's seven times more explosive than last summer's 12-day war
01:50between Israel and Iran. It's also worth noting that while they expect operations to continue ramping
01:56up, the officials declined to comment on any boots on the ground, emphasizing that the current campaign
02:02is being waged from the air and sea. Hegseth summarized it all by saying that Iran is off balance and
02:08the U.S.
02:09is going to keep them that way.
