00:01
Neil, 1-0 defeat at home to Braintree after a sort of uncharacteristic slow start from your side tonight.
00:07
Thoughts on that?
00:08
Yeah, that was exactly what it was.
00:10
You know, we lacked energy in our work at the top end of the pitch.
00:14
We lacked cohesion at the back.
00:18
And the more the game went on in the first half, the more strange decisions we made.
00:21
I thought we started to play with anxiety, rightly so.
00:24
The crowd weren't happy with what they were seeing, we wasn't.
00:27
The more that happened, the more that we started to make strange decisions.
00:31
You know, I think we put them in on goal two or three times.
00:34
We weren't winning headers at the back.
00:36
We weren't holding the ball up, up top.
00:38
When you do that, it's very, very tough.
00:40
Yeah, and obviously Will obviously had to make a few saves in that first half as well, didn't he?
00:44
Yeah, it's hard to explain. We were uncharacteristically.
00:48
I thought we played with anxiety as the game went on.
00:51
We started slow and I've said to the boys in there,
00:54
you know, you've lost this game because of the way you started.
00:56
You find yourself 1-0 down, you're all over the shop.
00:58
No one's playing with any composure, any quality.
01:01
And we tried to change things around, different shapes, different systems
01:05
to see if we could engineer something, but not enough.
01:09
Obviously at half-time, you obviously wanted much more.
01:12
And you made the double change with Aidan and Josh coming on.
01:14
And there was an improvement and sort of half and puff,
01:17
but just sort of not real clear-cut was there, wasn't it really?
01:20
No, no.
01:21
And again, it all stems from the start of the game.
01:23
I thought we set our tone at the start and we never got going from there on.
01:27
And disappointing because I don't know where it's come from.
01:29
You know, we've lost one in 12 or whatever it is,
01:31
and we haven't really had that in any of the games.
01:34
But we need to correct our home form.
01:36
It hasn't been good enough.
01:37
And we need to start that on Saturday.
01:39
I'd say it's uncharacteristic from your side.
01:42
And I guess you wouldn't have really seen it coming,
01:44
but obviously you will address it obviously, won't you?
01:47
Well, you have to.
01:48
Yeah.
01:49
Listen, we have to.
01:50
There's no hiding place.
01:51
Like I say, we've been in all over Christmas.
01:53
And we haven't got, for all the efforts of being away from your family
01:57
and being in and doing your work, we haven't got the points total.
02:00
We should have.
02:01
We should have beaten Eastleigh.
02:02
We didn't.
02:03
And today we was under par, probably very similar to Scumford.
02:07
And we've got beaten.
02:08
We made it very hard for ourselves because we didn't start the game properly.
02:11
And obviously it will be full focus on getting that reaction,
02:13
a quick turnaround on Saturday against Hartley Farm.
02:16
Yeah, that's all we can do.
02:17
That's all we can do now.
02:18
I can only tell you the truth.
02:19
I always try and be honest and truthful.
02:21
You know, it's not shaped systems.
02:24
You know, we changed three times systems during that game
02:27
and we never got anything better from the team than we did from what we started.
02:32
So it was personnel, quality, energy.
02:36
I thought a little bit of anxiety and we have to change that.
02:39
And we have to freshen our minds up and go again.
02:42
Just reflecting on the year as a horse,
02:44
how else you came in sort of this time last year when the club were in a lot of trouble
02:47
and obviously stayed up.
02:49
And this year sort of solidly in mid-table at the moment,
02:51
just sort of reflections on it all.
02:53
Yeah, I don't really like going too much into, you know, you don't look back too much.
02:59
We had a job to do last season. We did it.
03:01
We need to take the club forward.
03:03
We're competitive, but, you know, we're not competitive enough and fluent enough for me at the moment.
03:09
And we have to improve that.
03:12
Yeah, I'll just keep working at that side of things and see whether we can make us, you know,
03:18
get back to them unbeaten runs.
03:20
Yeah.
03:21
And you sort of set the levels and obviously it's sort of getting back to those really, isn't it?
03:24
Yeah, absolutely.
03:25
And again, you know, under part of day and we've got to sort our home form out, home form.
03:29
You know, we've been excellent away from home, but at home for whatever reason.
03:33
Last season we were strong. We didn't lose many this season.
03:37
We just, for some reason, we haven't quite got our home form going
03:40
and we've got a chance Saturday to turn that around.
