00:00Dashcam footage captured a harrowing moment that brought an end to the life of 42-year-old
00:05Mishael Michael King. King, who was from Success Village Laventil, was heading north along
00:11the Uriah Butler Highway. A black pickup driven by 22-year-old Kevin Singh from Bamboo Settlement
00:17No. 3 in Valsain can be seen on the far left lane of the highway heading south before
00:22swerving left and then right across the lanes of traffic. The van crossed the median in
00:28the vicinity of the Munra Road flyover and slammed into King's oncoming black-eared Cerato. King died
00:35at a scene. Fire officials had to use the jaws of life to remove his body from the wreck. His
00:41wife,
00:42Severina Farah-Francois, the front seat passenger, suffered a broken arm and multiple lacerations.
00:48Meanwhile, Singh and a 24-year-old woman who was the passenger in his vehicle were taken to the
00:54hospital with undisclosed injuries. Police are continuing investigations into the
00:59circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. The accident caused heavy traffic along the highway
01:04for several hours. Road Safety Group Arrival Live is sending condolences to the family and friends of
01:11King as it hopes for the full recovery of the other three victims. In a statement on Facebook,
01:17the entity referred to the accident as another preventable and fatal crash. It is appealing to
01:22old drivers to focus on their driving and on the roads. The organization says distraction and speed
01:28both contribute to serious collisions. It adds that forensic crash investigation is required in TNT.
01:36Arrival Live is pointing to a lack of median barriers, which it states contributes to cross-over
01:42collisions. It is also calling for improved road safety measures by the Ministry of Works and
01:48Infrastructure, including the installation of median barriers along the Uriah Butler Highway.
01:54Meanwhile, 41-year-old Randy Sue from Alice Street, Qwrap, was heading north along the Uriah Butler Highway
01:59in a black Suzuki Grand Vitaura. Upon reaching the vicinity of Karani, he struck a silver Nissan Silphi
02:06from the back driven by Himlal Samdew. This caused Samdew's vehicle to veer off the roadway.
02:12Sue was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe that he may have suffered a heart attack.
02:17Two of Sue's male relatives, a 65-year-old and a 70-year-old, who were passengers in his vehicle,
02:24were treated by medical responders at the scene and were later transported to the Eric Williams
02:29Medical Sciences Complex for further attention. Samdew reportedly sustained no injuries.
