Justin Moore is once again climbing the Country charts, this time with the song “Time’s Ticking.” The singer joined Katie Neal during this week’s 'Superstar Power Hour' to talk about the track, working with Dierks Bentley, and the unbelievable amount of TVs he has on his tour bus.

00:00Let's talk music. Let's talk time sticking, climbing up the chart right now. I know you wrote this about three
00:04years ago. Talk about this song when you guys wrote it.
00:07Yeah, you know, I think, you know, throughout your life, you learn that maybe what used to be the most
00:18important things are not necessarily to be, you know, and, you know, especially with what we all do, you know,
00:27any of us, whether it be what you do in entertainment or myself.
00:32I mean, we're all going 90 miles an hour constantly, and there's so much pressure, and it's fun, but it's
00:40not as glamorous at times as people make it out to be, but we're really blessed.
00:46But I say all that to say, I really, you know, this song to me is kind of, you know,
00:55take it, soaking it all in and just slowing down, maybe put your phone down for, you know, at a
01:02certain time or stop checking emails or whatever.
01:05And just making the most out of every day you can with your, you know, your loved ones, your friends.
01:14And so that kind of is what the song represents to me.
01:18Absolutely. And then having Dierks on the song. Talk about working with him and your friendship with Dierks.
01:23Yeah, I always say Dierks is a much better friend than I am.
01:27I mean, he texts, he texts me every time we have a big hit, he texts me, man, I love,
01:34I love this song, or I love you, it sounds great, or every, every like Father's Day, he texts me,
01:43hey man, you're such a great dad, happy, I'm just like, I would just drop me like a bad habit.
01:49I don't, because I'm, I'm terrible about all that. And so he's, he, he's got to be the one who,
01:57when I'm the total opposite, he's got to be the one that never forgets to get his wife a card
02:04for different occasions.
02:05And so I buy them about a week before, and then I just, it's a running joke in our house.
02:12I just leave them in my console of my truck and forget about them. And Kate will go, you got
02:19me a, a card in the, in the truck. I go, yeah, you want me to go get it? She
02:25goes, no, it's fine.
02:28You got like a little Hallmark store in there.
02:30Yeah, I do. Exactly.
02:32Just recycle this one next year.
02:34Yeah.
02:35But I never do.
02:37Yeah.
02:38Oh my gosh, that's great.
02:39And then you are going on tour with Riley Green this spring or what are you looking forward to most
02:44about that?
02:45You know, Riley and I, um, got to know each other right when he signed, uh, with, um, with my
02:54label group.
02:56And, uh, he's really good dude, uh, super talented, great songwriter who looks like Brad Pitt, if not better.
03:05I mean, that's, but anyway, he's had an unfortunate time in life.
03:11Oh yeah.
03:12Yeah, sure.
03:13Um, but anyway, uh, I remember meeting him for the first or second time and he shows me a picture
03:24of him at my meet and greet and like, I don't know, 2012 or 2010 or something.
03:34And I'm like, you've got to be kidding me.
03:37And so to see it come full circle now and he's blown up and done what he's done.
03:42Uh, and, uh, it's awesome.
03:45It's, it's so deserved.
03:46And, and as far as the tour, yeah, we're really looking forward to it.
03:49It'll be a lot of fun.
03:51We've been doing our own thing for a few years.
03:53So, uh, to get back out there on another big tour is, is going to be a lot of fun
03:59for us.
04:00When I was talking to Riley about you coming out with him, he was, you know, very complimentary
04:03talking about how, you know, how many hits you have.
04:05He's like, it's crazy.
04:06Justin's going to get out there and he'll play for 45 minutes to an hour and not play all of
04:10his
04:10biggest hits.
04:11And then he was also talking about how excited he is to have you just because of how funny
04:14you are.
04:15So, yeah, you know, we're kind of cut from the same cloth, you know, grew up the same way
04:23and, um, just have a lot in common and, um, except for stature and face and, you know, muscles
04:33and that kind of stuff.
04:36Um, but, uh, but no, it's going to be a lot of fun.
04:39And it's, and it, and I'm so happy for him, uh, that he's, he's doing so well.
04:44When you are getting ready to go out on tour, I have a feeling I know the answer to this,
04:48but I'm very curious, like what is on your writer for your dressing room?
04:52This is the most, you know, I was telling somebody this the other day.
04:57I don't even remember what the context was, but, um, I give the most boring answer to this,
05:04like, cause we don't have anything ridiculous as a matter of fact, about two years ago,
05:10we were getting so much crap.
05:12We couldn't fit it in the bus.
05:13And so we took, we took, you know, probably half, if not more of our rider just off.
05:21So it's like, it's so boring.
05:23It's like a roll of snuff.
05:27Um, I know that surprises you, um, that, um, coffee for my drivers, uh, cause they're,
05:37that's literally all they drink.
05:39Um, and I'm not even embellishing.
05:43Let's see.
05:44There's nothing chips and salsa.
05:47I mean, it's, it really, it's super basic.
05:52No frills.
05:52I love that.
05:53That's what I want to do.
05:54Cause I, you talk to people all the time that are like, you know, I realized for 10 or 15
05:58years, we were paying for a veggie tray.
05:59Nobody ate.
06:00And it's like, what's the point?
06:02Yeah, exactly.
06:04We did that.
06:05I'm telling you, it's, it's like when you, you go in your closet and you're like, I have
06:10got to get rid of some of this stuff.
06:12I ain't wore that in 15 years.
06:14Why am I keeping that?
06:16And then you, you donate it to Goodwill or whatever you do with it.
06:20And you go back in your closet and you're like, wow, why did I do that?
06:25You know, way, way before.
06:28I was watching it.
06:30It's been several months ago now.
06:31I think you did a, uh, tour of your tour bus and I was cracking up that you had 17
06:36TVs
06:37in the tour bus.
06:38Yeah.
06:39I'm a, I'm a little crazy.
06:41Um, no, I, we played a show with Gary LaVox the other day and he and I are good friends
06:48and, and I was actually telling him, this was a couple of days ago.
06:53I was telling him, uh, cause when I went out on tour with them in like 20 16, maybe something
07:03like that.
07:04Um, they were really good to me.
07:07It, Gary and I became close.
07:09Um, so, you know, just hanging out on each other's bus or whatever.
07:15He had a, a wall full of TVs and like the, he, he had one on each side, uh, passenger
07:25and
07:26driver's side.
07:27And then he had three that once the slide out came out.
07:32So I'm like, next bus I build, I'm, I'm doing that exact thing.
07:38And so I, he never knew that.
07:39I told him that a couple of nights ago.
07:41I was like, dude, that's where I got that idea.
07:43He's like, no kidding.
07:45So anyway, yeah, we're, but most of us, you know, at least in my camp.
07:51And I think a lot of camps out there, I mean, we're all sports fans.
07:56And, um, so it's really good for like March madness, uh, or any kind of tournament, you
08:03know, football playoffs or whatever.
08:06That's so wild.
08:07I was having the one that you have in the shower.
08:09I was like, of course, this is like every man's dream that there's a team.
08:12Oh yeah.
08:13Yep.
08:13Yeah.
08:14I asked him if we could do that.
08:15And now I'm mad cause I didn't do it at my house.
08:18I'm sure that your wife was like, we, we can survive without this.
08:22Right.
08:22Yeah.
08:23Are you, you said you're watching a lot of sports.
08:25Are you binging anything on those TVs or is it really just sports?
08:28My wife watch is, is starting or has started Bridgerton.
08:33Have you been watching that with her?
08:35Well, I mean, she'll have it on and I, I'm usually just playing on my phone and it's in
08:41the background.
08:42So she's been watching that one.
08:44What are your thoughts on Bridgerton?
08:46It's different.
08:48It's different.
08:49Uh, I mean, it's dying.
08:51Like, I would love to know your commentary during an episode of Bridgerton.
08:54Well, and, and I'm bad about like, you know, halfway paying attention.
09:00I go, Hey, step, pause it.
09:03Well, what?
09:04And she's like, would you just shut up?
09:07Bridgerton's pretty racy too.
09:09It is.
09:10We just watched, uh, the hunting wives.
09:14Oh, that's another one.
09:16Yes, I have.
09:17That one is crazy.
09:19Crazy.
09:20Kids gotta be in bed for that one.
09:21Oh yeah.
09:22That's exactly right.
09:23Kate kept wanting to watch it, you know?
09:25And I'm like, Kate, our eight year old is right there.
09:29Like we can't like, and he's a nutcase to begin with.
09:34So you don't need any encouragement.
09:36No, I know.
09:37Oh my God.
09:38That's hilarious.
09:39We like white Lotus.
09:40Oh my God.
09:41Love white Lotus.
09:42So excited for that to come back.
09:44Land man.
09:45Of course.
09:46So anyway.
09:48Yeah.
09:48That's all the things.
09:49Is that something you would ever do?
09:50Like, have you ever thought about dabbling and smacking?
09:52I feel like you, you know, you do things like you to host a morning show on the radio
09:55for years.
09:56You've got all these like hidden talents.
09:58You know, I've, I've never had the desire.
10:00I mean, I would never say never.
10:02Um, I had an offer to do a small movie early, early on in my career.
10:10And I just, I wanted to focus on music and, you know, honestly shooting videos, like they
10:19always wanted me, the labor management, they always wanted me to be the, uh, the actual
10:25actor in the videos.
10:27And they're like, you're so good at it.
10:29And I'm like, y'all just trying to save money.
10:31I'm not an idiot, but it's not really my thing.
10:37I don't, I don't really enjoy it.
10:39Um, in videos and stuff, it just makes me feel it's almost like embarrassing or something.
10:45I just can't let go.
10:48You know what I mean?
10:49Yeah.
10:49I know what you mean.
10:50You're like, everybody's watching me.
10:52Yeah.
10:52I'm like, so, and I'm, I don't think I'm any good at it, but who knows down the road.
10:57I mean, you never know.
10:59Somebody's going to need a Justin Moore-esque character at some point, and then you just
11:02get to go be yourself.
11:04Yeah.
11:04That, now that I could do.
11:06That I could do.
11:08Um, so rumor has it, you are working on a lot of new music.
11:11What can you say about that?
11:13Yeah.
11:14I think we've written maybe right around 30 new songs.
11:19And, um, I won't say they're all, you know, winners, but I, I think 25, 26, 28 of them
11:28are really good songs.
11:29And so I'm excited about it.
11:32I mean, it's, it, it's been, uh, I don't even know how long it's been since we put out
11:37the last one, but, um, but I'm looking forward to it.
11:41You know, it's always dictated by the music and whether I write it or whether I don't.
11:46And, um, and so hopefully we can whittle it down and pick, and we do a good job of picking
11:52the, the best, however many it is.
11:55But, uh, it's always fun to, uh, you know, get in and make a new album.
12:01I think that a friend of mine asked me recently, that was just don't know anything about the
12:07music business, but I was curious, um, said if, uh, uh, why do y'all only put two, three,
12:19four songs off an album that has 15 on it or whatever?
12:22And I'm like, usually I said, it's obviously dictated by business and finances and stuff,
12:30but I go, but more so from an artist perspective, once the album's been out, let's say a year
12:37or two, uh, and you're three songs into the singles, um, you've, you've had that music for
12:45five or six years.
12:46You're ready to just move on to something else.
12:48And so, um, I don't know.
12:50I think it's, it helps you, uh, continue to stay creative when you have that to look
12:55forward to.
12:56So I wonder, are there any good pranks that you guys have pulled off on the road or have
13:00been pulled on you that are a fun story?
13:03We did a tour with Randy Hauser.
13:06I think it was last year.
13:08Um, yeah, I think it was last year, but, uh, excuse me.
13:14Um, he, he, we did, I'm trying to think what, what our guys did.
13:21Our guys did something that was pretty funny.
13:23Uh, but right during my show, him and all his guys ride golf carts out on stage and pretend
13:31to play, uh, putt putt.
13:34Um, I mean, right in the middle of the show, it was, it was hilarious.
13:37It was a good one.
13:38Oh my God.
13:39Randy Hauser probably just giggling with his little Randy laugh, you know, do that again.
13:47I don't know if that's real good or not, but him and Darius Rucker have two of the most
13:52infectious, like notable laughs I've ever heard.
13:55Yeah, yeah, yeah.
13:57I love, I love both those guys.
13:58I've toured with both of them numerous times and, uh, both, both of us are all three of
14:06us golf together.
14:07And so they're, they're good folks, but the, yeah, they do have kind of not only infectious
14:12personalities, but unique laughs.
14:16Yes.
14:16You'd know it anywhere.
14:17Listen, thank you so much for the time today.
14:19I know that you guys are so busy.
14:20You got so much going on.
14:21I really appreciate it.
14:22It's great to see you and congratulations on time.
14:24I'm still doing so well and we will see you soon, sir.
14:28Yeah.
14:28Thank you, Katie.
14:29We appreciate it.
14:29I thank you for your time.
14:31And it's always good to see you.
14:32Good to see you.
14:32Take care.
