00:00So for By God, we actually had written another song earlier that day that was a little more of a
00:07serious song,
00:07and it was kind of like a puzzle to put together.
00:11It was a little more difficult to write, and we had like 30, 45 minutes left,
00:14and so we started writing By God, and it just fell out.
00:18Like, it literally, I think we finished the whole thing in 30 minutes,
00:21and I remember I had to go to a meeting, so I'm like on the mic, and I'm like, just
00:24press record,
00:25and if I get it, I get it, and if not, I'll sing it later.
00:27And I just sang it down like one time, and there you go, bada bing, bada boom.
00:31I think that picking By God for the next single, a lot of that was that it was a little
00:37bit different
00:37or maybe even a lot different than something I've done before.
00:41A lot of people, a lot of my fans, if you listen to my records, you can hear a lot
00:44of that,
00:44but I don't necessarily take those different shades of me to radio all the time,
00:49so just showing the world and maybe the people that aren't huge Hardy fans
00:53and record-listening Hardy fans that there's a whole different side of me,
00:57and I also just think it sounds like a big ol' hit, so that's to both worlds.
01:01I just want people to feel good when they listen to it.
01:04I've gone to some dark places with my singles and country music.
01:07I've gone to some funny places and some kind of edgy things,
01:12but this is just a really good feel-good song about loving where you're at in life
01:16and even geographically, I guess you could say,
01:19but I just want people to feel good and sing along with this one.
