Does Dan Campbell want to see Sewell at left tackle?
Transcript
00:01all right here's a quote uh according to albert breer tweeted out lions coach dan campbell said
00:09he'd like to move penne sewell to left tackle and while no final call has been made yet quote
00:13he's ready to do that so there you go there's no reason to make a final call right now but
00:18this is lining up for them to have a rookie right tackle somebody that they hope that could come in
00:23and and you got to get that pick right you can't go out and get stocker mcdougal or riley reef
00:28you
00:29got to get you know not necessarily the next penny sewell but at least a taylor decker uh kind of
00:35guy
00:35if you get that pick right at 17 you get a plug and play right tackle you move penny sewell
00:40to left
00:41tackle the most important position on the offensive line maybe outside of center i guess i suppose we
00:44could debate it but um but at the end of the day yeah it's all lining up for that to
00:49be the case
00:50we should not be shocked no i'm not gonna be shocked at all i i think you know from the
00:56moment he was
00:56drafted people like okay how long before he goes to left in fact people said at the time okay so
01:02he'll start a left tackle and move decker over to right remember there was backlash people were
01:06well why won't decker move to right he should move to right well they made the right decision and
01:12having both those guys on the field decker staying at left and penny sewell at right
01:15and for moment one penny sewell was was a freaking stud one of the best in the game at right
01:22tackle and
01:22and up to this season he's he's maintained that elite status at right tackle so switching him back
01:30to the left side makes all the sense in the world you can draft whomever and uh and and they'll
01:36compete
01:36at right tackle with borum i mean when they when they sign borum in the offseason here as a free
01:41agent
01:42it's because they like him at right tackle but that will not stop them from drafting somebody because
01:48it's a one-year contract 248-539-9797 johnson battle creek and he is next hello john
01:56how are you today karsh good sir thank you i got a question i got one question for you
02:03what's the difference between what um oh i can't think of his name now the michigan basketball player
02:11that called the timeout chris weber what's the difference between him and what boozer did
02:18well one was a mistake because one's a physical mistake and one's a mental mistake
02:25okay but aren't those pretty much the same when you're in this realm of
02:30well was michigan winning was michigan winning that game against north carolina at the time doug no
02:35okay so there's there's a big difference there duke had the lead michigan was trailing
02:39no they were because that's why he called the timeout wasn't it they were losing
02:44oh okay okay but but i mean okay they're they're both i mean they're both pretty infamous moments yes
02:54and one other question was they're all talking about dusty going to north carolina and blah blah blah
03:01michigan's not a blue bud i want your take on why is michigan not a blue blood and why would
03:07you leave
03:07when you have a national championship you're not guaranteed with north carolina even with your
03:13skills and you have one if they win one if they win one yeah john i just don't get all
03:19this look this
03:20is what happens when you when you got a good young coach is that people are going to come after
03:24him
03:25and that's fine um because you know it's it's what you expect it's kind of what you hope right you
03:30hope
03:31that you have so much success that your young coach draws attention uh with that said you know
03:37it's it's ward manual i guess there's been reporting that the the this has been underway to have some
03:43sort of extension in place here soon um and dusty's going to be very attractive here's here's what you
03:50get anymore in coaching searches you get teams that are bidding on you and your players
04:01right they're hoping that you will come and maybe bring some guys with you now i i'm sure they're
04:07not thinking can we get elliot cadeau back because they had him but um but at the end of the
04:12day that's
04:13what would make that's how how how it is uh you just and you you fend them off and sure
04:20make a run
04:21at them and michigan has to respond yeah and uh you know it as far as the blue blood thing
04:26i don't think
04:26any of that stuff really i mean to me it doesn't matter if are you happy where you are and
04:30do you
04:30are do you have the support where you think you can win michigan's nil what they've got put together
04:37for nil is really good and he's proving he can win here there are a couple of challenges but that
04:44might be unique to michigan but at the end of the day you know you gotta fend just the way
04:49we talked
04:49earlier about michigan state fending off people are going to come after fears or come after
04:53cohen carr or come after anybody else on the roster and it's everything's year to year and i don't love
05:01it but we it's the way it is so you may as well i mean i personally don't want to
05:07turn into the old
05:08guy with a rotary dial phone and so you do what you have to do to keep your guys yeah
05:13as far as michigan
05:13and blue blood um what keeps them from being in that conversation is they haven't won a national
05:18championship since 1989 they're a very good program and if they win it all this year then they can
05:24revisit that discussion if they won't but people will revisit that discussion i'm not sure michigan
05:29state is considered a blue blood anymore because michigan state hasn't won since 2000 i've been to a
05:34bunch of final fours but you know michigan's been to a few final fours as well since that time so
05:39it's about winning and when i hear blue blood i start to think okay it's the longevity of being
05:45if you can be elite it's great but if it's if you do it for a long time then that's
05:50a whole
05:50different ball game and right now you've you've got like duke and yukon and florida is is quite
05:57frankly they could be considered because they got three championships in the last 20 years 25 years
06:01or whatever it is so there aren't many there i mean there's programs that are maybe dormant right
06:06now like your kentucky or your louisville ucla that used to be considered blue bloods that aren't but
06:12you know it's just an interesting topic conversation there are people that i that
06:17no more yeah there's people know about it more than me and say dusty's not going anywhere but
06:22i mean you want to be in a position where your coach is so coveted that others make runs at
06:27them
06:27and you just fend them off i mean north carolina is pretty historic yep and if that matters to him
06:32there's nothing michigan could do about it if he but oh they certainly he certainly set up at a good
06:37spot where he can win michigan they've proven they can win at basketball well one thing's for sure
06:41dusty may is gonna make some money off of this yep whether it's leaving for for north carolina or
06:46staying at michigan he's making more money i suspect in the end he stays but we'll see 248-539-9797
06:53tom and lansing is next hello tom good morning gentlemen how are you guys good sir uh i've got
07:00a champ and chump and i do agree with you or your take on uh sewell switching over that would
07:06be great
07:06uh champ i gotta go with michigan athletics not just the basketball team but athletics in general
07:13it's very rare to have three championship potentials women men and hockey you know that's
07:21very rare that's uh that's uconn almost level even though they don't really have a hockey team
07:26um well they do they had a hockey team make the tournament yeah right right my chump has got to
07:33be and i i think gator you will agree with this streaming services can i please get a streaming
07:40services that has that has tbs and tbs together and i can actually watch because i have sling and
07:49i have poo poo and i got i went on sling to where i can bounce between the game and
07:54the tigers game
07:54and i can't watch the tigers game unless it's on poo poo i mean it's the same channel but i
08:00can't
08:01i don't i don't understand it so wait you have to you have to back out and exit one app
08:05and get
08:06into the other app you can't just yeah i got i gotta hit the home button go back to the
08:10other one
08:11to watch the tigers game hit the other one instead of being on food like i could watch i can
08:16switch
08:16from the tigers are playing and michigan's playing on tbs i can switch back and forth between the games
08:22right just like if you have a regular tv so yeah i mean i guess
08:29this is one of the challenges of streaming i i remember gator complaining about this and you
08:35i'm sure are okay with this i started counting how many more clicks it takes and depending on what app
08:41you're going to or going you can get somewhere with like four clicks whereas on cable it's just one
08:48so you start thinking about is the money i'm saving worth one two toggle three toggle four like well but
08:56it's more than that it can be it can be it's always more it's not just the clicks it's the
09:00time it
09:01takes to to load the whole thing up and that takes that does yeah and that and then you ask
09:06yourself
09:07is it worth streaming yeah because it's like there's a time body you're talking about 60 to 90 seconds to
09:11get that done to get out of an app and into another one 60 to 90 yeah i don't know
09:16i don't i don't know
09:18if it's ever taken me that long but you're right there is there is more from a time standpoint than
09:24than the single button but if you're going to stream that's kind of what you're getting
09:28and i get it we have we have streaming that uh that it takes longer but if you're paying less
09:38that's kind of what you're you're you're giving up i guess uh antonio and mount clemens what's up
09:42antonio how are you guys doing good sir um so i wanted to comment on the duke game and michigan
09:52state so firstly with duke as someone who i didn't get to play as high as a level but a
09:57lot
09:57of people are i haven't heard anyone say i probably missed it but i think that's just as much of
10:01a
10:02mental error as a physical one considering that they had exactly 10 seconds left when they unbounded
10:07and if i'm remembering correctly college has 10 second not eight second backcourt violation yes and
10:14like they could have held the ball the play to swing the ball back and forth felt unnecessary to
10:20begin with like the coach was trying to over plan for a situation when they could have inbounded and
10:25held it or inbounded and made one swing to avoid a jump ball possibly you know it's interesting
10:30antonio because yeah did they did they get it to the guy that they wanted fouled it went into boozer
10:36right away and he went right back to the inbounder and it almost looked like they had the perfect
10:43breakout play where they weren't even going to have to make any free throws because if he connects that
10:47pass uconn had all five guys in the backcourt and um you know it would have been tough for them
10:55to get
10:55down there cameron bruiser was a 75 free throw shooter once they inbounded he could have just
11:01covered up the ball carson anderson 97 one
11:05you
