00:39wouldn't expect there to be any hidden treats buried in plain sight but true
00:43fans know differently before the start of every mission during the opening
00:48cinematic there is a number hidden in one of the scenes said number corresponds
00:52to which mission you're undertaking for example you'll find the number one
00:56imprinted on a pizza box right before the first level and so on and so forth
01:01it's a silly gag but we've grown to love it
01:11anime references listen Dante she may be a kid but oh I'm sorry my apologies but the
01:18young lady standing before you is not just any girl Netflix wasn't the first to
01:23bring the famous devil hunter to the small screen hell devil may cry even had
01:27its own manga at one point apparently there's still a lot of love for these
01:30ventures since a few of them found their way into devil may cry 5 in the form of
01:34cameos most prominently is the likes of Morrison sure he's gone through a bit of
01:39a redesign but he's still the collaborator and ally to Dante's exploits how
01:43about the girl that calls Dante at the start of the game that's patty a young girl
01:47he's saved during the anime who is now desperate to tell him she's 18 infer from
01:53that what you will hope I'm not bothering you you're not bothering me but I can't
01:58promise that you live long
01:59and what is that supposed to mean lucia who I'm happy if I can die like a human
02:07no devils never cry when you think of the great female characters dotted around the
02:13dmc franchise who comes to mind trish with her dark soul that Dante wanted to fill with
02:19light lady with her titanic cannons and quest for vengeance
02:23Nico the southern belle ingenious engineer who stole all our hearts on arrival what
02:28do all these lethal ladies have in common they aren't lucia try she might this way
02:34would warrior from devil may cry 2 just couldn't cut the mustard and the only real
02:39reference we have to remember her by is a bullet casing left behind from one of
02:43ladies guns guess that's the franchise's way of saying she's fired you must not
02:49worry my dear I am sure that he will return these taunts thus endeth your
02:59requiem everyone's favorite goth boy has three major staples to his name that
03:04classic emo hair his cane as well as his beloved book which contain various poems
03:10and short stories by the legendary William Blake but if we're being honest we much
03:14prefer when he starts performing show tunes and opera yep if you cycle through
03:19these taunts eventually he'll stop with the doom and gloom and start dancing
03:23around to singing in the rain or even a rendition of ride of the Valkyries the
03:28best part the iconic music starts playing in the background maybe V missed his
03:33true calling in life finding the Kalina and I'll take care of him ladies weapons of choice are so
03:57bombastically destructive it would be a damn shame to just leave them to gather
04:01dust well for the eagle-eyed among you there's every chance for you to snag it
04:05for yourself and put it to good use while exploring the ruins in mission 11 so
04:09long as you slice apart the various demonic roots that have infested it the
04:13way will open up for you to find a side room containing ladies rocket launcher do
04:17this and after you're automatically given a second one in mission 18 you'll
04:21unlock the double Kalina and two bazookas for the price of one and an
04:26absolute joy to unleash in battle
04:38live-action cutscenes
04:40it is a crime that these were not unlockable given how hilarious its mere
04:50existences but we figured it was still worth spreading the gospel only
04:55available in the deluxe edition or behind the deluxe upgrade buried in the
04:59options menu you'll find the option to switch the cutscenes to live-action and
05:04yes it is exactly what it sounds like every cutscene is performed by the
05:08development team before being rendered into animation and it plays out like a
05:12home movie with a bunch of theater kids using every prop imaginable this should
05:17honestly be a mandatory inclusion for all games going forward

05:33how can there be such a difference between us you surrender to humanity is that simple
05:42who doesn't love Nico she's sassy effortlessly sexy and best of all she
05:47knows how to forge weapons of mass destruction in the back of a van
05:51apparently it's a family trait given the hints layered throughout her
05:55interactions with Nero it's easy to piece together that her father is none
05:58other than Agnes one of the major villains from Devil May Cry 4 a mad
06:02scientist raised in Fortuna killed by Dante it all lines up we're just
06:07thankful Nico didn't follow in that weasel's footsteps or inherit any of his
06:11insectoid qualities so tell me tell you what how's it feel to be rescuing the
06:18guy that killed your father hey I'm glad we're getting personal
06:22these familiars
06:30for longtime DMC fans this was the most open of secrets towards the end of the
06:35game following the revelation about these true identity
06:38Dante is forced to battle against the three summons that V and by extension the
06:42player has been using for the entire game turns out that they're all based on
06:46bosses and enemies previously encountered in the first Devil May Cry game the names
06:50are a dead giveaway especially with the likes of Griffin and nightmare being so
06:54iconic to old-school gamers
07:00you should have known better you got a good heart but you're about as sharp as a marble
07:06Street Fighter 2 now this is a real blink and you'll miss it moment while this divisive
07:11reimagining was very much Ninja Theory's take on the lore of Dante they still wanted to have a few
07:16imagines to publish and create a Capcom during the battle with the first boss in the first mission
07:20amidst the carnage you'll be able to spot an arcade machine somehow still operational
07:25angle the camera just right and you'll see it's none other than Street Fighter 2 flashing on screen
07:30the world may be ending but at least we can still keep tossing Hadoukens to our hearts content

07:47nature calls it's in the back for those of you that love to drink in every detail of a level's
07:52design there are more than a few callbacks to previous DMC games woven into the framework of
07:57Devil May Cry 5 if your eyes are keen enough to catch them two of the most uproarious are
08:03advertisements for Spada Express and Bale the Butcher Spada obviously being Dante and Virgil's father and
08:09an infamous demon in his own right while Bale is a frost frog boss that was soundly defeated back in
08:15Devil
