00:07welcome to mojo plays and today we're looking at video games from our childhood we absolutely
00:13should not have been allowed to play which only made us beg our parents for them even harder
00:19listen we can't hang around here i'll see you later homie much love baby but before we dive
00:25in we publish new content all week long so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to get
00:29notified about our latest videos god of war and if i am able to do this to kill a god
00:38then the visions
00:41they will end complete this final task and the past that consumes you will be forgiven some of our
00:48audience might have been old enough at god of war's release to pick up the game themselves personally
00:53i was 14 and uh yeah that would have been way too young to play this game on top of
00:58the mature
00:58borderline depressing themes that probably went over the heads of younger players og kratos is one
01:04of the most brutal video game protagonists ever created thank the gods you came back for me
01:12i didn't come back for you
01:19blood and gore is sprayed across your screen for every single combat encounter and some of kratos's
01:25executions still look pretty gnarly today of course there's also a sex mini game with quick time
01:31inputs we probably played too many times regardless god of war was one of the coolest bloodiest games on
01:37the ps2 and naturally we all wanted to see what the hype was about
01:47mortal kombat series
01:57if ever there were a poster child for video games that freaked parents out
02:01it would be mortal kombat the violence of the arcade original may seem tame by today's standards but it
02:07was clearly unlike anything else at the time it became somewhat of an epidemic since every kid big
02:14or small wanted to get their hands on it and it played a big part in the founding of the
02:18esrb
02:26it wasn't long until the arcade gore came home through ports on home consoles from the digitized origins
02:33that made the blood all too real for some to the even more disturbing kills once games went 3d
02:39mortal kombat is something every kid hoped their parents would buy and not look at too closely
02:52karmageddon
03:00the 90s saw a great deal of violent racing and vehicular combat games from twisted metal to road
03:07rash but in terms of inappropriateness it's hard to top karmageddon players race through various
03:13industrial areas and get bonuses towards their time by wrecking other cars and more importantly here
03:19running over innocent pedestrians
03:29this caused a bit of an uproar causing the game to get censored in other regions karmageddon's violence
03:35made it stand out from its peers and if you weren't allowed to play the pc original there were future
03:40opportunities on console we can't deny the allure of playing something so gratuitously violent when
03:46you know your parents don't want you to
03:52bmx triple x
03:53damn it i can't get it up you know what i mean hey hey you you want to be a
03:59hero go open a pipe
04:01from the reserve in that building over there i mean this one should be pretty self-explanatory right
04:05in the midst of alternative sports titles like the tony hawk and dave mira series acclaim published this
04:11much more mature bmx game while mechanically it was nothing more than passable it leaned heavily into
04:18nudity and somewhat vulgar humor they say that hand that holds wiener controls world well this hand
04:24holds wiener very tightly does that laugh that my wiener will pay you could play as a normal character
04:31or as a topless babe with a game engine that emphasized jiggle physics there was even unlockable content that
04:38was footage from a real life strip club and we're sure there were a lot of younger players who
04:43hopelessly asked for this game it seems not many parents gave in which is probably a good thing
04:48since bmx triple x was a commercial flop hey just get the hell out of here come back when you've
04:54got
04:54some money duke nukem 3d although the franchise would later become a joke there was a time when duke
05:05nukem was the boldest baddest dude around duke nukem 3d was essentially an over-the-top action
05:11movie expanded into a video game the hero said the coolest one-liners he blasted alien foes away with
05:18badass guns and he had the admiration and love of every woman on the planet shake it baby
05:26of course this resulted in every kid whose family had a pc wanting nothing more than to step into duke's
05:33shoes and seeing and hearing some things we most likely shouldn't have i still remember my older
05:39brother showing me that strippers would flash duke if you threw money at him good times
05:48manhunt
05:58some of the most popular games in rockstar's library many of us probably played at too young
06:03an age the studio was already in the thick of controversy with the grand theft auto series when
06:09manhunt was released in 2003 understandably a game about a death row inmate forced to star in snuff films
06:16where he viciously murders criminals because his family is being held hostage rubbed some folks the
06:21wrong way
06:22it was outright banned in several places but that level of pearl clutching towards violent video games
06:35paired with rockstar's reputation just made us want to play it more we felt that same urge when
06:41it got a sequel a few years later which even launched on the wii with motion control executions
06:46you know for kids
06:55postal two hello hello mr coleman i love facts of life you ever do that leather tuscadero check
07:04thanks you can leave now the charm of the postal series if you can even call it that wore off
07:10for a
07:10lot of players quite a while ago yet when postal 2 was released the level of absurdly violent and
07:17offensive content surely piqued the curiosity of any younger gamer with a computer that's the ticket
07:25while the game gives you simple tasks there's a lot of variety in how violent you can be to accomplish
07:31them from dismembering people and using their body parts as weapons to just peeing on an npc that annoys you
07:38postal 2 is a wild ride it's still the most popular game in the franchise with a vr remake currently
07:45in
07:45development but there's no denying how highly inappropriate it is for kids to play nothing
07:51personal man but you're fired resident evil series
08:02survival horror has obviously come a long way and even though it had some cheesy lines the original
08:09resident evil was downright horrifying maybe you had seen zombies in movies but it was entirely
08:14different in an interactive medium where they stalked you throughout the twisted spencer mansion with
08:20sequels the series grew bolder scarier and bloodier
08:29not only were they scary enough to give kids nightmares and their parents regrets over buying
08:35such a game they were also exceptionally violent yet most of us couldn't stay away across the fifth and
08:41sixth generations kids hope to have parents cool enough to buy them each new game no matter the
08:47emotional scarring they were left with afterwards
08:59Conker's Bad Fur Day
09:00I say yeah I say little fella you better get this fat ass bitch off from my back pronto
09:07of all the mature games we tried getting our parents to buy Conker's Bad Fur Day was at least the
09:13most
09:13inconspicuous it came from Rare a developer known for cartoon animal platformers and very much looked
09:19like the same ilk it was also exclusive to the Nintendo 64 a console from the family friendliest name
09:27and gaming
09:27oh hello can you help me
09:33I need to get home and go to bed because I don't feel very well at all
09:38yet Conker the squirrel delights in over drinking cussing others out and won't hesitate to get rid of
09:44someone in the most hilariously violent ways that the technology would allow for from playing wingman
09:51between a bumblebee and a large chested sunflower to storming a nazi teddy bear occupied beach a la
09:57saving private Ryan it's one of the more unique games on the platform and one we were very excited
10:03to play when we shouldn't look at that what a sight
10:10yes it is
10:14if you love games be sure to check out WatchMojo's new game Terrible Influence just launched for purchase at

10:38grand theft auto series the policeman's ball is being held at the old school hall near the
10:44Callahan bridge and they'll be looking for some old school action now i got girls all over town
10:48walking the street get them to the ball they'll make a bundle get as many of them as you can
10:53before the cops drink away their green manhunt garnered more controversy for rockstar but it's
10:59nothing compared to the legacy held by GTA grand theft auto 3 is one of the most important open
11:05world games ever released whose influence and fame would follow for years to come however it and its
11:11sequels also give you tools to wreak as much havoc as possible from murdering sex workers after paying
11:17for a good time to waging war against an entire police force just to see how long you can
11:22last each game is a playground of chaos how's my star director oh man the struggle between the
11:29artistic integrity and the humping pumping action continues unabated naturally every player regardless
11:35of age wanted GTA making them some of the best selling games on the ps2 whether it was the gang
11:41violence of san andreas or the drug lord drama of vice city GTA was like this forbidden fruit that all
11:49of
11:49us wanted a bite of that's bullshit you see you can't trust the system man what are some of the
11:56most
