00:07Welcome to MojoPlays and today we are having a peek at the most intense moments in Resident Evil
00:12and how they tensed us up so bad we had to see a chiropractor. These are the 20 most stressful
00:17moments in Resident Evil games. Let's go. Before we continue, we publish content all week long,
00:23so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to get notified of our latest videos.
00:28Heisenberg Escape Resident Evil Village
00:42The Heisenberg chase in Resident Evil Village is a heart-pounding, high-stress segment that ramps up
00:48the intensity of the campaign dramatically. As Ethan scrambles through collapsing corridors
00:52under result by various lichens, the chaos is overwhelming. Heisenberg's relentless taunting
00:58and deafening roar of machinery and the explosive destruction all combine to create a nerve-shredding
01:03experience. Hey, speaking of shredding, by the time you reach the spike trap ceiling, you think it
01:07couldn't get any worse, but then you enter the area with the spinning Ethan Slicer 5000 and have
01:12about 20 seconds to work out what to do. It is very stressful.
01:15So now it's time for the beautiful, the launch of Grand Finale.
01:30The first zombie Resident Evil
01:40A defining moment that terrified players around the world, the first zombie encounter in the original
01:45Resident Evil occurs just minutes into the game. And even though players are well and truly used to it
01:50by now, the first playthrough was always stressful. As players turn a corner in the eerie mansion,
01:56they're met with the chilling sight of a zombie hunched over a corpse. The zombie slowly turns its
02:00bloodied face towards the player, then lurches forward. Panic kicks in as players fumble with
02:06unfamiliar controls to fight it off. Am I supposed to fight it off? Am I supposed to run away? What
02:10do I do? Oh god, it bit me. Jack Baker Chase Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
02:25The Baker family makes their disturbing debut in Resident Evil 7 during a grotesque dinner scene
02:31reminiscent of your worst sleep paralysis demons. What follows is a tense escape sequence as Ethan
02:36breaks free and searches for a way out, only to be relentlessly pursued by the family's menacing
02:41patriarch, Jack. Jack stalks Ethan through the sprawling house, impervious to bullets and armed with
02:46deadly tools, turning every room into a potential death trap. One unforgettable moment sees Jack
02:52smashing through a wall without warning. Jack is a stress-inducing creation, and this isn't the last time
02:57he's going to appear on this list. Mia Reunion Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
03:13In Resident Evil 7, Ethan's arrival at the Baker property is filled with tension, made worse by
03:17Mia's cryptic warning to stay away. As he explores the dark, decaying residence, Mia suddenly appears,
03:23sparking a wave of confusion and dread. Ethan's desperate questions go unanswered, raising our stress
03:28levels to unmatched heights. We know the game can't end here, so something has to go wrong. Mia's
03:34demeanor shifts violently as she transforms into a terrifying, possessed version of herself. Ethan is
03:39forced into a brutal struggle, dodging her relentless attacks and trying to avoid getting a knife through his
03:44hand. Oh damn, too late. Hospital Hunters Resident Evil 3
04:08The hunters in the hospital section of Resident Evil 3 remake are incredibly stressful due to their
04:13basically insta-kill tactics and the claustrophobic environment you fight them in. These creatures can
04:18kill Carlos in just a couple of hits, and their speed and unpredictability leave little room for
04:23error. The narrow hallways and tight corners of the hospital make evasion difficult, forcing players
04:27into risky confrontations. The hunters suck enough without having to also fight them in a shoebox.
04:40Bedroom Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
04:46You sleep well, darling? Our daughter really likes you. She wants you to be her big brother.
04:55Oh, now don't get too excited. Don't jump up and down just yet.
04:59If you haven't played the bedroom DLC for Resident Evil 7, you don't even know what stress is.
05:04This DLC traps players in a tense game of cat and mouse with Marguerite Baker, who we all know is
05:10stressful enough in an open space. As Clancy tries to escape the locked room, every action risks making
05:15noise or disturbing the environment, something Marguerite will immediately notice. The pressure
05:19to solve puzzles quickly while remembering to return everything to its exact place before she checks
05:24in creates constant anxiety, and keeping your head on right while not trying to get killed
05:28is not an easy task.
05:46Jack Baker Morgue Fight Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
05:54It only just occurred to me how many entries we've had for Resident Evil 7. I promise we'll talk about
05:58other RE games, but god damn is Resident Evil 7 a stressful experience. Speaking of stress,
06:03the Jack Baker Morgue Fight is intensely stressful due to its confined setting and Jack's relentless
06:08aggression. Trapped in a grimy basement morgue, players face Jack in a brutal drawn-out battle
06:13where he's nearly impossible to slow down. The player must use chainsaws and timing to counter his
06:18savage attacks, all while dodging lunges and navigating tight, blood-soaked corners.
06:27The T-078 Resident Evil Code Veronica
06:36The boss that has abruptly ended countless playthroughs, the infamous Plane Tyrant from Resident Evil Code
06:41Veronica will never be forgotten. This monstrosity combines several frustrating elements of classic
06:47Resident Evil boss fights into one unforgiving encounter, and much like our previously mentioned
06:51Jack Baker, it takes place inside a can of Coke. Figuratively, not literally.
06:56Claire Redfield is trapped in a confined space with no room to escape, and players often reach this
07:01point low on ammo, making survival a desperate struggle. What makes it worse is how unexpectedly the
07:06fight appears, especially during a blind playthrough. You don't know what to do, you have no time to
07:10think. That is stress.
07:19Jack Krauser
07:21You two are all hooked up now, is that it? Where's Ashley? Do you really want to know? She's beyond
07:30that gate. Krauser was no easy foe in Resident Evil 4 Remake, but here we're focusing on his original 2005
07:37appearance. One of his early encounters is entirely made up of quick time events, so infuriating it's
07:43enough to make anyone break a sweat, or a controller or two. In the final chapter, players face Krauser
07:48in a tense segment that mixes puzzle solving with combat as they hunt for emblems he's hidden
07:53throughout the area. This combination, as we've seen, of intense puzzle solving under offensive onslaughts
07:58attacks is very very annoying. Dog Attack Resident Evil
08:14Before players even set foot inside the mansion, they're attacked by a pack of monstrous dogs while
08:18investigating a crash site. But once you're inside and you're safe, you're safe, right? The mansion
08:23initially feels like a safe space, with only the slow-moving zombies to worry about. After some time
08:28spent solving puzzles and unlocking new areas, players enter a seemingly calm, well-lit hallway
08:33lined with windows glowing from the moonlight outside. But take a few steps in, the glass explodes
08:39and undead dogs leap through. As a jump scare, it's terrifying, and on a first playthrough,
08:44the stress of trying to work out what to do is unmatched.
08:49NEMESIS FINAL FORM RESIDENT EVIL 3
09:09NEMESIS stepped it up in the RE3 remake, and what makes NEMESIS' FINAL FORM in this game so terrifying
09:15is that it remains brutally difficult no matter how many times you've completed the game.
09:19Extra health and inventory from unlocks offer little comfort when NEMESIS can down you with
09:24the flick of a wrist. On the highest difficulty, there's virtually no margin for error, and even
09:28powerful bonus weapons like the infinite rocket launcher barely make a dent. Success demands
09:33precision, and precision demands actually being good at the game, which I didn't realize I wasn't until
09:37right at this moment. Ghostly found footage Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
10:03players may remember the Resident Evil 7 demo, Beginning Hour, which featured a chilling sequence
10:09where players experience a found footage tape first hand. This moment is a tweaked version of
10:13what ended up in the game, different enough that it doesn't ruin the experience, but similar enough
10:17to be an accurate demo. Controlling the cameraman of a documentary crew exploring an abandoned house
10:22on the Baker property, players are immersed in a deeply unsettling atmosphere. The difference with
10:28the demo is subtle, it has terrifying ghost sightings. There were brief blink-and-you'll-miss-it
10:32appearances, it was spooky as hell, and hooked players instantly.
10:45The Clancy Jarvis tapes Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
10:52Speaking of found footage, among the many victims of the Baker family, Clancy Jarvis
10:57suffers some of the most harrowing torment. The videotapes showcasing his captivity are deeply
11:02unsettling, placing players directly into his desperate fight to survive.
11:05As Ethan uncovers these tapes, he also eventually discovers Clancy's charred remains, which is
11:10where our most stressful tape unfolds. Playing through the Saw-style trap room,
11:14set up by Lucas, is one of the more stressful moments of the game, and trying to escape the
11:18inevitable burning demise is pretty bad, because right up until it ends, you don't know if you can
11:23actually escape.
11:39You, you're Ramon's laptop.
11:42Vertigo always sucked, but the terrifying redesign of Vertigo in Resident Evil 4 remake leaves a
11:48lasting impression that I still can't shake. The tension shatters with a sudden jarring cutscene
11:53as Leon enters the ice room, revealing Vertigo, who's approaching, and making me all kinds of
11:58uncomfortable. Its relentless pursuit, combined with lightning-fast movements reminiscent of the
12:02regenerator prototypes, turns each encounter into a nerve-wracking test of reflexes.
12:07Throw it in hard mode, and you'll develop an ulcer.
12:18Playing as Ashley Resident Evil 4
12:33A surprising change of pace awaits in the Resident Evil 4 remake, when players take control of Ashley.
12:38Her redesigned sequence introduces more complex puzzles, and a heightened sense of dread as the
12:43terrifying Armadora enemies close in, and finally, Ashley works. She's not fun, she's stressful,
12:48but it works. Armed only with a blue lamp to temporarily freeze those armoured horrors,
12:53Ashley must rely on stealth and strategy, rather than brute force. Navigating dark hallways and
12:58avoiding detection adds a new layer of tension, forcing players to adapt a drastically different playstyle.
13:04Leon?
13:06Action! Are you okay?
13:08Hang on! I'll figure something out.
13:11Marguerite Fight Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
13:16Oh, now with me! We're gonna settle this!
13:20I lied. There's been so much Resident Evil 7 on this list. There's something inherently unsettling
13:25about humans moving on all fours. I mean, I didn't even like watching horse girls do their thing,
13:29and Resident Evil 7 takes full advantage of that with Marguerite Baker, the horse girl of Resident Evil.
13:35But instead of horses, Marguerite commands swarms of insects to torment Ethan Winters.
13:39When players confront her in a decaying greenhouse, she transforms into a spider-like nightmare,
13:44crawling across walls and ceilings with unnaturally elongated limbs.
13:47Her voice becomes deep and monstrous, spewing eerie taunts that keep players constantly on edge.
13:53The vibe is feral, and she can come from any direction.
14:06The village Resident Evil 4
14:17Resident Evil 4 marked a pivotal shift in the series, dropping players straight into Leon
14:22Kennedy's tense mission in a remote European village, and that remote village is where the
14:26earliest stressful moment goes down. After arriving, Leon is quickly ambushed by crazed,
14:31infection-controlled villagers wielding pitchforks, axes, and… well, you know what else.
14:36The entire segment is filled with relentless tension as no location feels safe.
14:41Entering one house triggers a chilling cutscene. Players hear the roar of a chainsaw as a masked
14:45figure begins hacking through the door. The stress comes mainly from not really knowing what the
14:50hell is happening. Am I escaping? Or am I killing everybody? Why is this not ending? Help me, Mum!
15:02REGENERATORS RESIDENT EVIL 4
15:09When Leon reaches the climactic island section of Resident Evil 4 and its remake,
15:13the game shifts into full-blown action mode filled with gun-toting and chain-gun-wielding enemies.
15:18However, the horror tension quickly returns in the chilling research lab sequence. Here,
15:23players encounter one of the game's most terrifying enemies, the Regenerator. A memo reveals their
15:28experimental beings capable of regenerating lost limbs, hence the name. Moments later,
15:32a loud crash signals their awakening. Breathing heavily and stalking prey,
15:36they become nearly unstoppable threats. Near unstoppable.
15:45GIANT BABY MONSTER RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE
15:50GIANT BABY MONSTER RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE
15:52RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE
15:58RESIDENT EVIL VILLAGE, the latest entry in the franchise, gives us the horror of Resident Evil 7,
16:03with the action of Resident Evil 4. While the game delivers plenty of standout moments,
16:07one section rises above the rest, the Beneviento house. Quickly after arriving,
16:12players descend into a puzzle-filled basement. As they explore in darkness,
16:16the haunting cries of a baby echo, leading to a horrifying chase
16:19by a grotesque, oversized infant wailing for Dada. Trying to escape from the basement while
16:25trying to avoid this one-shot killer is pretty damn stressful.
16:34MISTER X CHASE RESIDENT EVIL 2
16:43JESUS CHRIST
16:45Mr. X was not as big of a showcase in the original Resident Evil 2. However, the 2019 remake of
16:51Resident
16:51Evil 2 ramped up the relentless Mr. X, introducing a game mechanic that tied the whole thing together.
16:56While Jack Baker from RE7 had some random pursuit mechanics, Mr. X took things to a new level.
17:02His dramatic entrance, lifting a crashed helicopter out of his way, is a moment that's drilled into
17:07the brains of all gamers. From that point on, his thunderous footsteps echo throughout the police
17:12station, never letting up, and when you hear that sound, you know there's a potential game over coming
17:17your way. No room feels safe, except for the designated save rooms, as players frantically solve
17:22puzzles and unlock doors, with the constant threat of Mr. X hanging over their head like a stressful cloud.
