00:06Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're taking a look at 10 games where playing on easy mode
00:12is actually ruining the entire video game for you.
00:21Before we begin, we publish new videos all week long, so be sure to subscribe to MojoPlays

00:30Devil May Cry 3, Dante's Awakening
00:40We can understand why somebody wouldn't want to obliterate themselves with DMC3's higher difficulties.
00:46This truly is a challenging game with its complex combos and tight input windows for said combos.
00:51But learning the game is what makes it so much fun!
00:54Bump it down to easy, and DMC3 becomes a brain dead action game where you just mash a button
00:59and you learn nothing.
01:02I hope you all have enough to cover all this!
01:05You'll perform the most powerful combos by pressing a single button while laying waste to enemies
01:10that are already nerfed to hell with comically low health.
01:13Yeah, the impatient gamer might want to stay away from DMC if they don't want to stoop to easy mode.
01:27Metal Gear Rising Revengeance
01:39Much like DMC3, part of the fun with Metal Gear Rising is learning the game, learning the enemies,
01:45and looking like a total badass at overcoming the hurdles.
01:49Is it going to be a cakewalk?
01:50No, but once you grasp the mechanics, it is one of the most fun games you could ever play.
02:04If you're just wanting a power fantasy, then sure, go ahead and play on easy.
02:09However, you're likely going to get bored super super quickly.
02:12Rising's easy mode makes parrying so forgiving that fights will seem completely unfair and bosses will become an utter joke.
02:20At that point, you're not playing Metal Gear Rising.
02:23You're just playing a basic hack and slash with nothing special going on.
02:35Vampire
02:42Vampire is an interesting case because it has a really unique XP system that ties in with the whole vampire
02:48theme.
02:48At the start of the game, you're given minimal abilities, mostly consisting of basic attacks and defensive maneuvers.
02:55And you might have, you know, a vampire power here and there.
02:58But if you choose to absorb the blood of certain characters, you are given more XP which can unlock more
03:03powerful abilities early on.
03:05As bad as the moon, you tames glofting sunlight into a glowing reflection.
03:14However, the number of people you prey upon will affect the ending you get, thus forcing the player to make
03:20moral choices.
03:22Do you deal with tough fights for the good of humanity or slaughter dozens to become unstoppable?
03:27Well, you won't have to choose when playing on easy as combat becomes so one-sided that you won't have
03:33to ever worry about additional powers to exploit.
03:36At least it makes getting the good ending less of a headache, we suppose.
03:48Super Mario Bros. Wonder
03:58In the case of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the existence of an easy mode does not necessarily ruin the game.
04:04No matter what, this is one of the most fun Mario games you could ever play.
04:07The thing is that the way easy mode is incorporated into the game is what can ruin the experience for
04:13some people.
04:22Basically, if you play as Nabbit or any of the different colored Yoshis, you remove some of the challenge from
04:28the game.
04:28You will only suffer knockback and lose a life from falling into pits.
04:32Yes, this might be good for the younger players, but as a wise man once said,
04:37get good.
04:39Also, let me play as Yoshis and retain the difficulty, please.
04:43Like, come on, man.
04:50Persona 5
05:00The beauty behind games like Persona is coming up with the perfect stop.
05:04Load up on different types of personas, create powerful builds, eventually suffer from oppressive bosses like Okumura.
05:11It's a ton of fun.
05:19But when you choose to play on safe difficulty, what are you doing, man?
05:24How do you expect to learn the game and improve yourself when you're steamrolling over every group of enemies you
05:30come across?
05:30You can even do that on normal difficulty.
05:33We can kind of get playing on safe if you're just there for the visual novel aspects,
05:38but even then, why not just play visual novels then, instead of ignoring a whole half of a 100 hour
05:44game?
05:47I don't have much health left.
05:50Yeah!
05:51Nice job, Panzer!
05:53You does it great, huh?
05:53You took them all out.
05:54Twisted Metal 2
06:04Compared to the rest of the list where easy modes destroy the fundamentals of various games,
06:09Twisted Metal 2 handles its lower difficulty rather differently and shames you for using it.
06:15At first, your campaign will start normally with Hollywood followed by Moscow, Paris, and Amazonia.
06:29But once you've defeated the mid-boss, Minion, you'll be greeted with a very special message that reads,
06:36quote,
06:37Stop! No losers allowed beyond this point. You must switch to medium or hard to continue, end quote.
06:45You will then be booted back to the main menu. All of what little effort you exerted has now gone
06:50to
06:50waste. Perhaps this message ruined the game for some, but hey, Twisted Metal has never been a super
06:56easy series to play, so turn the key or get out of the car, bub.
07:11Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
07:21Much like Super Mario Bros. Wonder, we can understand why, say, a kid might want to play on a low
07:27difficulty
07:28for Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. This is an adventure game starring furry space creatures.
07:33But for the older player, the easy settings are actually robbing you of what makes Rift Apart so
07:39much fun. The higher difficulties make weapon swapping a key part in combat, just as previous
07:44Ratchet and Clank games had. By making fights a breeze, you're really missing out on what made
07:58this series legendary to begin with. It's like wanting a 100-piece puzzle to come in just four
08:02pieces instead. Silent Hill F
08:19We'll take a break from the whole, you should play this way schtick for just a second, because Silent Hill
08:24F
08:25really does have a difficulty problem, okay? When starting the game, you only get two choices for
08:30difficulty, hard mode, and the eye roll that is story mode.
08:42Here's the problem. The game's combat is way too clunky to expect new players to quickly grasp on hard
08:49mode, even if you're used to the difficulty of, say, Dark Souls. As for story mode,
08:56Silent Hill F is way, way too easy that it's bound to turn some players off. It would be nice
09:03if Konami
09:04had a setting that gave us a happy medium between the two settings.
09:14The Mario Kart series
09:23There is an unspoken rule among most Mario Kart fans when it comes to difficulty. Go to any house
09:30party or social gathering where there is Mario Kart, and you will find that nobody is playing on
09:36anything below 150cc. Rarely will you ever find people playing at even 100cc. So why does nobody
09:44play 50cc? Well, it's because it's slow as hell!
09:56At that speed, races take forever, drifts aren't as satisfying to pull off, and you can easily bully
10:03the AI to where it's no longer fun. You need to embrace the chaos. That's the beauty of Mario Kart.
10:17And lastly, the Doom series.
10:30Look, everybody has their limits when it comes to Doom, alright? Whether you're playing the 1993
10:35classic, or the new games directed by Hugo Martin, most fans are in agreement that the games are best
10:42played on Ultraviolence maybe hurt me plenty in some games.
10:53We're forgiving to those who may be new to FPS and boomershooter games and choose,
10:58hey, not too rough difficulty, but to choose I'm too young to die, brother, you're not playing Doom
11:06anymore. You're playing a shooting gallery, and that's all it is. It's not fun. You're just playing
11:12the world's dullest shooting gallery. Bump up the difficulty, please.
11:24Is there a game you feel others are robbing themselves of by playing on low difficulty settings?
