00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 Hardest Boss

00:13Battles of the Century so far.

00:24For this list, we'll be looking at the most challenging, rage-inducing bosses from the

00:28years 2000 to 2024.

00:30If there's a boss from this century that made you want to pull your hair out, let us

00:34know about them in the comments.

00:45Absolute Radiance – Hollow Knight

00:54The final boss of Hollow Knight is a tough challenge to overcome, but with the Godmaster

00:58expansion, developer Team Cherry made it even harder.

01:02Absolute Radiance is a mix of undeniable power and an ungodly speed at which it can unleash

01:06it.

01:07Most of its attacks have either been increased in strength or, in terms of its projectile-based

01:11attacks, in capacity.

01:13Thankfully, your little knight should be well-powered by the time you face it.

01:25And since it's an enhanced version of a boss fought previously, you should know what to

01:29do even if actually doing it is a hassle.

01:32Fought across six phases, Absolute Radiance is the peak of what Hollow Knight can offer.

01:43Maneater – Demon's Souls

01:55Bringing in a second boss while you're in the middle of fighting the first one is a

01:58surefire way to spike the difficulty.

02:00Most bosses found in FromSoftware's games are going to be a challenge, and Maneater

02:04easily takes the top spot for Demon's Souls.

02:07Not only does it come with the necessary power to do its studio proud, but it's also fought

02:11on a rather narrow bridge.

02:20Having less room to maneuver and attack in is a pain, but not as much as a second Maneater.

02:26After enough time has passed, or if the boss' health bar drops to a quarter full, it will

02:30summon a pal to help do you in, doubling your workload.

02:41Gna – God of War Ragnarok

02:51And here we thought Sigrun was bad.

02:53The Valkyrie Queen of 2018's God of War provided a taxing battle, to be sure, but Sony Santa

02:58Monica outdid themselves with Gna.

03:00As the final big post-game mission, Ragnarok goes out with a bang, if you can get through

03:05it.

03:06She naturally has the highest power level of any enemy at 9, so even if you drop the

03:10difficulty level all the way down, her hits will do major damage.

03:21Most of her attacks are hard to predict, and if they connect, they can drain your health

03:25bar in a matter of moments.

03:27That's not to mention two unblockable grabs, which are far more infuriating than any of

03:31her other attacks.

03:39Raven Beak – Metroid Dread

03:47Like those that came before it, Metroid Dread upholds the high difficulty the series is

03:51known for, and Nintendo couldn't have included a better boss to make us feel actual dread

03:55than Raven Beak.

03:57In three brutal phases, the Chozo warrior demands extremely fast reaction time unless

04:01you want your health quickly depleted to zero.

04:13Whether you're right next to him or on the other side of the arena, it doesn't matter.

04:17He can blast you apart just as easily as rip you to shreds with his claws.

04:21His agility and strength is unmatched by anything Metroid gave us this century.

04:25In the ultra-hard Dread mode, he may even be the toughest in the whole series.

04:35Dr. Cal's Robot – Cuphead

04:43While Chef Saltbaker of the DLC came close to matching it, there's just no topping

04:47the frustration that comes with fighting Dr. Cal's Robot.

04:51Cuphead mostly consists of boss fights, the majority of which can easily wallop the player.

04:56But this one really tested our dedication in reaching the end.

05:04The first phase sees the robot utilizing a variety of projectiles while you blast apart

05:07the three pieces.

05:09With each piece destroyed, more attacks are added.

05:11Phase two has homing bombs to look out for, while phase three gives you more projectiles

05:15to dodge along with electrified walls.

05:18The whole ordeal is a literal bullet hell, and you won't have nearly enough firepower

05:22to make it balanced.

05:29Sans – Undertale

05:38If you choose to go down the genocide route, meaning you've killed every single monster

05:41you can come across instead of sparing them, Sans will be waiting for you.

05:45And honestly, you probably deserve his wrath.

05:48By far the hardest challenge Undertale has to offer by a mile, the fight against Sans

05:52completely clashes with his Good Vibes persona.

05:59You'll approach the fight like many others, dodging attacks with your little heart.

06:06But most of those attacks are impossible to see coming and lightning fast.

06:10There is no making it through without a lot of trial and error, which means a lot of deaths

06:14at the hands of this dopey skeleton.

06:16It takes the utmost determination.

06:27Orphan of Kos – Bloodborne

06:28We're not sure what's more disturbing about this thing, its fleshy weapon or its

06:42tendency to shriek when it lunges at you.

06:45The Orphan of Kos serves as the final boss in the old Hunter's DLC and, in typical

06:49FromSoftware fashion, is an absolute monster to fight.

06:53Despite being much smaller than many other bosses in the game, it's just as oppressive

06:57with its deadly leaps, if not more so.

07:06If you're caught by one, say goodbye to a major portion of your health.

07:09Thankfully, it doesn't transform into something more unsettling for its second phase.

07:14It just gets a lot faster and more aggressive, which is saying quite a bit considering its

07:17first phase.

07:26Absolute Virtue – Final Fantasy XI

07:36We'll admit this one should come with an asterisk.

07:39Found in one of the franchise's MMO installments, Absolute Virtue was designed by Square Enix

07:43to be unbeatable, at least by the studio's terms.

07:47This was due to an enormous health pool, a tendency to auto-heal each turn, and its use

07:51of the Benediction spell, a full heal that also cured status effects.

08:02The problem was that the studio didn't reveal this, prompting teams of players to spend

08:06literal hours fighting it, only for naught.

08:09Some were able to do it, but Square Enix retaliated by removing any methods used to beat it in

08:13the game.

08:14Only after a wave of backlash was Absolute Virtue finally nerfed, making him tough, but

08:19at least beatable.

08:27Promised Consort Radon – Elden Ring, Shadow of the Earth Tree

08:37And here we thought Millenia was tough.

08:39When Elden Ring's DLC, Shadow of the Earth Tree launched, there was a loud outcry from

08:42players who found it too hard, even by FromSoftware standards.

08:48Well, the final boss personifies the studio's commitment to delivering boss encounters that

08:55can leave you questioning your skills.

08:57Radon's first phase is daunting.

08:59He'll quickly switch between the Blood Flame and Gravity elements, can hit extremely hard,

09:03and has great recovery between his heavy attacks.

09:05That makes your window for delivering damage very small.

09:08Then there's his second phase, where everything terrible will be multiplied thanks to his

09:11increased speed.

09:12He'll also have new, even higher damage attacks thanks to his divine power.

09:16Radon earned his reputation quickly, and is certainly deserving of it.

09:30Isshin the Sword Saint – Sekiro, Shadows Die Twice

09:44Unfortunately you can't summon friends in Sekiro, so when it comes to the final boss,

09:48you'll just have to hope your skills are up to snuff.

09:51It wouldn't feel right placing anything other than a FromSoftware boss in the top

09:54spot, and Isshin the Sword Saint certainly deserves it.

09:58You'll already be on the edge having fought Genichiro directly before this.

10:01Even if that wasn't the case, Isshin's three drawn-out phases will make you feel

10:05painfully outclassed.

10:17His sword slashes have surprising range and will catch you off guard, as will his AoE

10:21attacks.

10:22His patterns grow more random with each pause, making it hard to get a read on what's coming

10:26next.

10:27It's an incredibly satisfying victory, but one that's definitely not earned easily.
