00:10Welcome to MojoPlays and today we're taking a look at 10 of the toughest
00:15bosses we've ever encountered in first-person shooter games. Before we begin we publish new
00:23videos all week long so be sure to subscribe to MojoPlays and ring the bell to be notified
00:28about our latest videos. The Leviathan Resistance 2
00:39Resistance 2 is notorious among fans for being unnecessarily harder than the first game,
00:46and the Leviathan has caused many to simply watch the ending online. The entire boss fight
00:51is scripted, forcing the player to cross to certain areas in a specific order before they
00:56can use the only weapon capable of hurting the beast. But what makes the Leviathan so aggravating
01:08to deal with is that at any moment it can grab you. Should you fail the quick time event during
01:14this action, you will instantly fail and be forced to start the entire fight all over again.
01:20The checkpoint system was really that horrible guys.
01:31Ash, Titanfall 2
01:43Titanfall 2 goes against its designed
01:45philosophy entirely for this fight. When developing a shooter built entirely around how players move in
01:51the environment, how do you expect them to get through a boss fight taking place in such a congested, cramped
01:57space?
02:05Not only is it a tight room, there's also barely any cover to get behind, and Ash can teleport whenever
02:12she damn well feels like it. All this only makes her annoying to face, and it makes replaying the campaign
02:18sound like a nightmare more than anything else.
02:30The dragon, Quake
02:40Good frickin lord, the dragon is probably the biggest reason why some of us choose to not suffer through the
02:46original Quake. Don't get us wrong, every FPS fan needs to play all of
02:51Quake in Quake 2. But our praise gets more hesitant when talking about the dragon in the Dissolution of Eternity
02:59expansion.
03:07Avoiding his lightning projectiles is next to impossible, and if you do get hit, they take off an insanely huge
03:14chunk of health and inflict knockback.
03:17So yeah, a few falls into the lava is going to set some of us off.
03:29The Invincibles Borderlands series
03:42No matter if you're playing the original Borderlands or any of its sequels and spin-offs, every game has a
03:48boss known as The Invincible. These bosses are intentionally designed for you to fight them alongside three other players.
04:04Each of the Invincible bosses boasts a massive amount of health that'll require top-notch coordination
04:10and never-ending damage output from you and your allies just to make a dent in it. Of course,
04:16there are supposedly ways to defeat these bosses solo without using every bullet you can spare,
04:22though most methods require excessive amounts of grinding.
04:35Colonel Raddick
04:36Killzone 2
04:38I'll deal with these two myself.
04:41Didn't I kill all of you yet?
04:44Cut them off.
04:47Okay, so this is a hard-as-hell boss fight we admittedly love, under certain difficulties.
04:53The hordes of enemies that charge at you in the beginning? Cool way to kick off this final bout, when
04:58Rico isn't being a complete imbecile.
05:09Raddick's cloaking and tendency to try and rush us is what makes this fight kind of thrilling. What isn't exciting
05:15is when he lands shots that should have a 0% chance of nailing.
05:20Those are the moments that had us moving on to other, more fair games. It doesn't help that the PS3's
05:26controllers weren't exactly the most responsive.
05:37Rulk, Disciple of the Witness, Destiny 2
05:48Speaking of utter nonsense, Rulk is perhaps the most infamous boss in all of Destiny 2, expansions
05:56included. It's one thing to demand players maintain good coordination. It's another to give him beefy
06:02damage output. But holy crap, this dude has a crazy amount of mobility.
06:16Sure, you can still fire shots and hit. Trick is having to prioritize damage output with your own
06:22safety as his attacks can box you in and cover a wide amount of the room. It can be easy
06:28to lose
06:28your cool and start moving around in a panic.
06:40The Ghost of Lady Comstock, Bioshock Infinite
06:52For many players, Lady Comstock was the breaking point and understandably so. In addition to the
06:58tedious nature of reviving fallen allies and such, Lady Comstock has a tendency to keep sending forth
07:04more and more enemies at you. It can get so harrowing that you'll constantly feel like you're running low
07:19on ammo. It quickly becomes annoying and you have to go through this whole cycle several times before
07:26she's finally dead. Lord Ackerman, Serious Sam 4
07:43So, most of the bosses on here are on here for genuinely frustrating designs, whether it be tedium,
07:50aggressive behavior, devastating attacks, or what have you. Lord Ackerman only
07:56gets a spot on here because Serious Sam 4 is just not a well polished game.
08:08The hitboxes are so out of proportion in this game that there are plenty of times where you'll
08:13get hit by projectiles despite being behind cover. With Lord Ackerman, this issue becomes
08:20excessive and it doesn't help that he barely takes much damage overall while also being
08:26extremely fast. The hero has defeated the villain. And now what? A one-liner?
08:36Meta Ridley, Metroid Prime
08:47For the most part, Metroid Prime isn't a super tough game to get through. Much of your time is spent
08:53exploring and most bosses are pretty straight forward. Meta Ridley is also straight forward,
08:58but he is perhaps the only boss in the game that'll make you sweat.
09:08Your shots aren't going to do squat with all that armor on him. Your only means to inflict damage is
09:14to
09:14shoot the center of his chest, which is a lot easier said than done. That hurtbox is much smaller than
09:20you
09:20may believe. And with his aggressively erratic movement, you won't get much time to land a shot
09:26before he starts another attack. You're just going to have to memorize his animations to get through this one.
09:38And lastly, Icon of Sin, Doom 2, Hell on Earth.
09:52To this day, the original iteration of the Icon of Sin is the hardest boss to ever appear in a
09:59first-person
09:59shooter. This menacing wall of death doesn't even directly attack you either. It simply launches boxes
10:06containing different types of demons you've encountered before. But those numbers can become
10:12overwhelming if left alone for too long. You'll need to land a rocket inside the Icon's exposed brain
10:25to bring an end to the nightmare. But that opening is placed in a really awkward spot. Miss, and you'll
10:32have to jump back down into the demon swarm below, fight your way back to the switch to bring the
10:37platform down again, and give it another go until it's finally dead. Or until you're dead.
10:53What's the hardest boss you've come across in a first-person shooter? Let us know down in the
10:58comments, and don't forget to subscribe to MojoPlays!
