00:25let's take a second to check in on the race for rookie of the year and see how the rankings
00:30are
00:30shaping up for this year's class of new nba talents well you look at james there were a few bright
00:36spots
00:36during the season for him but overall just not enough to bring him up towards the top and it's
00:41been a lot of fun to watch this group of rookies grow and improve as the season's gone along and
00:47you know what every year is a little different but this year is really special in terms of the quality
00:52of the depth when you look at the talent of these incoming players you'd be hard pressed to match
00:58it in recent years now the starting group for the visitors mitchell out there with keon ellis then
01:05there's torian prince then it's rui achimura and it's kata in at the five roaming the paint and for
01:11the bucks yannis plays the four with porter playing at center then it's gary harris then there's gary
01:17trent and it's rollins in at the point and clark after the all-star break it must be difficult to
01:23jump right back into playing full time well i tell you when you're accustomed to playing every other
01:27night or four nights and five nights and then you get a break it is hard to get right back
01:32into it
01:32but typically it's a restart and a reset and that adrenaline and excitement about what's on the
01:38horizon gets guys ready to go pass to ellis three-pointer yannis anacumpo grabs the board
01:45and so anacumpo will bring it up for the bucks down low and it's portis that time on the assist
01:52by anacumpo and you can just see how confident portis is inside of me very comfortable there feels
01:58like he can score whenever he wants to
02:03mitchell the pass to prince drills it from deep he's consistent from out there especially when
02:10you give him that kind of room here's anacumpo nice start for him sinking his first shot you know
02:18that this is where yannis wants the ball but how do you stop me i don't have the answer here's

02:25and he drops in the layup off the glass just taking it right to the rim and no one was
02:30there
02:30to greet him well this early they should be showing a lot more energy on defense it's not there
02:36now here's harris and harris throws it down you know even though he's just 6'4 harris can throw it
02:43down now don't sleep on this guy's bounce mitchell the pass to prince over trend that's short off the
02:51rim that's a decent look for him he just couldn't convert
02:55here's portis good and anacumpo gets the assist they've really come out swinging hitting four of
03:02their first five shots gone three of five here in the opening quarter when you watch bobby portis
03:09he's extremely physical but he could also space the floor clark yeah i like that combination ba it
03:15makes him a unique matchup and a tough matchup i mean one play he's thumping and bumping you around
03:20and then on the next play he's knocking down the three and he's doing it all with great energy and
03:26intensity when yannis enters the lane it just collapses sucks your defense right in which opens up the three
03:41he's going to work early on the offensive glass he's so amped up how about early attack goals i love
03:50the
03:50approaches coming to this game with really strong with the explosive leaping ability
03:55he's able to play center despite being undersized and the visitors call time here
04:05holmes he's checked in ford cata and for an idea of how the league is shaping up right now
04:10take a look at these latest power rankings you look at the timberwolves they're building some momentum
04:15right now and aiming for a spot in the top five you know right now for the visiting team
04:21they are about average when we get to this point in the season right in the middle your ranking is
04:27just who you are mitchell perfect night so far two for two starting to find his rhythm he's cooking
04:34and he knows it and you know what they're going to keep using i mean he'll be the centerpiece of
04:38their offense today you can bank on that and the basket by out of the kumpo boy the added work
04:44in
04:44the weight room for yannis coming into play there i mean you got to send an army to try to
04:49stop this guy
04:51and mitchell with the slam what a finish i mean he just took over himself what a show of power
04:58right there from the point guard man sweet and you know guys when your point guard is making explosive
05:04plays at the rim i really do think it sets the tone for the rest of the team that's been
05:10the story
05:10of their offense so far getting a number of looks from point blank range holmes passes to prince over
05:17trent prince can't hit and so trent will bring it up for the bucks and it's just so hard to
05:25stop
05:25them when they're scoring at that level they were efficient and didn't let up at all well it's really
05:30hard to stop them when they're in a groove offensively and they were in a comfort zone
05:35all game long and now here's ellis following the score by milwaukee
05:42here's mitchell he's got it four for four now he's automatic impeccable mechanics this sport he's
05:50been perfect from the field wallett passes to anna kumpo here's harris and a great assist by anna kumpo
05:59and that one goes in anna kumpo has got his fourth assist with that last one that's to prince
06:10now ellis he really had an off game against the rockets and it's prince with the three
06:16prince has got six you know when he was coming out of college this is exactly what scouts thought
06:21prince would be a strong three and d wing who plays with a lot of effort now here's anna kumpo
06:2817 points in his last outing hitting the afterburners to get the easy slam you know clark
06:34last season saw the passing of junior bridgeman who played 10 seasons with the bucks and whose jersey
06:39hangs in their rafters yeah he was a consistent reliable scorer and just a quality teammate as well
06:47but his legacy extends far beyond what he did in his 10-year career which was quite impressive
06:52his legacy as a businessman philanthropist community leader was in many ways unparalleled
07:02just a terrific guy and a great loss to louisville to the basketball family but also to humanity
07:09he was a shining star in all that he did for others and guys let's get your take on the
07:16scoring
07:17breakdown for the bucks well we've seen them take advantage of the lanes given to them so far
07:22the defense isn't plugging it up and it's being exploited in addition to that they've thrown their
07:27weight around inside tonight too thumping and bumping in the paint a lot of their points have come from
07:32inside catching up on the changes for milwaukee porter jr comes in for harris and anthony subbed in for
07:46rollins
07:48both free throws good for mitchell that's what he does rock solid at the line milwaukee in the lead
07:55here's anthony here's portis sinks another one he's on a roll starting four for four wow they're
08:04really being taken advantage of defensively out there no room protection whatsoever
08:10pass to achimura james outside and they're unable to get the time bucket there milwaukee leading by
08:18three and he lobs it up to the rim and the ball goes out of bounds last touch by on

08:26well a chance to check out some stats for keon ellis over the past 10 games his effective field goal
08:32percentage has really taken a tumble in layman's terms his offense just isn't as well-rounded as it
08:38could be right now
08:39and he's coming off a huge performance and his confidence couldn't be any higher and his coach knows
08:57that too showing no signs of slowing or cooling down they're going to ride him as far as he can

10:06they feed off of that energy and ability to make plays it gets them going yep that one goes and

10:13bucks lead by three the closer the better for anthony as is the case for most guys he just wants

10:19that one in that one's good from james on the assist by mitchell i know it's early but you have
10:27to wonder if these offenses can keep this up high octane action for sure crowd-pleasing already and
10:35just shredding apart the defense with his passing he's helping to pace this offense so well you know
10:40numbers don't always tell the story guys but his assist totals do paint the picture here i mean he's
10:45got everybody involved janice anacumpo has been on display for milwaukee absolutely carrying the
10:51offense he ends the quarter with 14. back to the game after this break

16:46monday they'll take on christoph's porzingis and the atlanta hawks the road is never the highlight of your
16:52schedule for any team but for these guys it is a chance to go out there test them
16:58themselves and see how well they gel outside of home court it could be a very valuable experience

18:01i get the feeling guys that he may be sensing that this is a critical time in this game

18:19comes to steals they're in the top half of the league they don't miss many opportunities to get
18:24their hands on the ball and their low turnovers are a standout stat for them they make smart quick passes
18:30and do a good job protecting the ball from fast hands shooting an unreal 69 really special stuff
18:38here mitchell just outstanding he hits again and he's still a perfect nine for nine yeah exactly it
18:45sure is plenty of second opportunities eight of their last ten points from the paint but the defense
18:50still continues to back away and not show any aggressive can't blame him just trying to take
18:56what the defense allows here's achimura outside for mitchell over trent and there's mitchell on the
19:04assist from achimura achimura's got five assists in the game

19:46his career and would like to add another larry o'brien trophy to his um collection he is getting
19:53older but again i think he's still in his prime and he knows that while time is short another

25:05taken three shots and made three shots here's mitchell on the take and he just driving the stake in him
25:12there he's a guy just never lets up and that's terribly demoralizing for a defense guys i mean
25:18they know he's going to keep coming and coming and coming and that they may not have an answer for

27:53and torian prince has played for a number of teams so far he's handled each experience like a total pro
27:59clark yeah that's the impression i get ba i mean he's somebody that welcomes every new opportunity in
28:04this league plays with a maturity and joy that helps any team he's just a basketball player understands
28:12his role and relishes that wherever he is he is certainly one of the few true franchise cornerstones
28:19in the league few guys can take over a game like the greek freak mitchell's shot is good he's been
28:27terrific offensively you can bet they'll feed him down the stretch that's for sure
28:35anadakumpo outside here's portis and a great assist by anadakumpo and that one goes in
28:43anadakumpo has got nine assists in the game great passing gotten six of ten shots to fall in this third
28:50quarter mitchell and he banks in the layup mitchell's got 34 points in the nba
28:57just can't let guys get to the rim and so time out here by doc rivers he's going to gather

29:02troops and talk it over and grant for everything else he's accomplished yannis hasn't quite mastered
29:08the three-point shot and you know he hasn't had to ba you want him inside hitting on those high
29:14percentages shutting down the lane defensively and of course controlling the boards watson he's checked in

29:49that's now 10 straight points in the paint i'm not sure what's happened to their defense man i think
29:55they've really got to start committing more bodies down low and really kind of close that area off
29:59defensive he's a big reason why they're on top i imagine they'll keep feeding him i would anadakumpo the
30:06pass to trent dunks it hard with one hand wow he makes it look easy did you see that look
30:15at the
30:15elevation on that dunk ba man he just cocked it back and fired it down with one hand oh a
30:22nice way
30:23to punctuate that position this has been a close game in a lot of ways but they do have an
30:29edge on
30:29the board we've seen it time and time again in the game effort and determination on the glass
30:34can make up for a lot of other weaknesses
30:40and he makes it mitchell's got 14 points now in the second half
30:45the defense couldn't collapse quickly enough trend outside

31:01your will that's 10 straight points in the paint well constantly finding lanes to the basket getting

33:47well milwaukee's shooting very well 66 for the game and looking really strong
33:52yannis is a monster around the rim too easy there they've done a great job of moving the ball tonight

34:07has to gillespie to the paint okay shot is good with a tough road ahead they worked hard to get
