US defence secretary Pete Hegseth has suggested that Iran has the capability to strike London as he stressed the global threat posed by Tehran.
Transcript
00:00The Israeli military has previously claimed Iranian missiles could reach a distance of up to 4,000 kilometers,
00:07posing a danger to dozens of countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
00:12Although not mentioning Diego Garcia by name, Mr Hegsif said Iran shot two failed missiles on a target 4,000
00:20kilometers away,
00:22adding that for years Iran told the world that their missiles could only range 2,000 kilometers.
00:28Hegsif singled out London during his comments.
00:32However, his British counterpart, Defence Secretary John Healy, refused to say if Iran was able to hit the UK or
00:40its capital,
00:41but insisted military chiefs did not believe Tehran had any plans to do so.
00:45The latest concerns come largely from that alleged attack on the Diego Garcia military base in the Chagos Islands,
00:53which is 4,000 kilometers away from Iran,
00:56while London is just a bit over 3,500 kilometers away from the Middle Eastern country's nearest territory.
01:04Pressed repeatedly on Sky News whether missiles fired by Iran could reach London,
01:10Healy said,
01:14Meanwhile, neither side shows any sign of backing down in the Middle East war,
01:19as the US continues to build up its combat forces in the region,
01:22and Iran maintains its stranglehold on the Strait of Al-Harmuz, a major oil and gas shipping route.
01:29So씨 that's why this video should be the two years behind us will see if you want to get to
01:29be what it eventually ends.
01:29Because we last two years later,
01:29where have the material used to been found,
01:29I was also the first españoles who are the two-ected two to pieces.
