Sir Keir Starmer describes the forced adoption scandal - whereby an estimated 250,000 unmarried women were sent to institutions run by religious organisations and pressured to put their babies up for adoption - as "absolutely abhorrent" and admits there is a "very strong case for an apology".

00:38But look, the case for saying we're sorry, an appropriate apology, is very strong to my mind.
00:46And I've already instructed the teams to sort of get on with this now and get to the right place.
