00:00He's a 6'7 freshman from the state of Oklahoma.
00:04And let's send it over to Lauren Shahadi.
00:07Bryce, you were scoring early at will against a team that knows you so well. How?
00:12I gotta give credit to my teammates. You know, we got some offensive rebound kickouts and just seeing me on
00:16my cuts.
00:16I mean, you've played in a lot of Iowa-Nebraska games. How does this compare?
00:20This is really, really high energy, as expected. You know, it's a Sweet 16 game, so we know that energy's
00:24gonna be there.
00:25Appreciate it, Bryce.
00:25Thank you.
00:26Kevin, let's go.
00:26The Iowa transfer now playing for Nebraska.
00:30He is number five in all of college basketball in three-point shots made.
00:35He is a gunswinger.
00:37We'll take you to AT&T at the half after these messages, and you're watching the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship.

01:15Sun setting in Houston.
01:17They had golf here.
01:18They had a baseball opener, and now they got the Sweet 16.
01:21A look at the AT&T first-half stats.
01:24Guys, the shooting has been phenomenal in this game.
01:27Well, it has, but the guy who's had the biggest impact is a guy who hasn't scored.
01:32Bear Gay, Bookton, Joe.
01:34They are plus 11 in his 14 minutes on the floor.
01:37Six rebounds, three assists, a steal, and two blocks.
01:40You have to be able to impact the game without scoring.
01:43And I've got my eye on what Tate Sage was able to do.
01:46Just with 11 points, three of four from three, he was fantastic.
01:50Lauren moments ago with the Hawkeyes.
01:52Bennett's jerks.
01:54Bennett, your supporting cast has been incredible.
01:57What last couple games, what stands out to you?
01:59Yeah, I mean, they're always there.
02:01But for us, it starts on the defensive end.
02:03We're not guarding well at all.
02:04And I think if we start hot there, it'll make our offense a lot easier to go against.
02:09And how are they defending you in tonight's game versus the previous two matchups?
02:13Oh, the same.
02:14I mean, a lot of the eyes are on me, so just got to trust my teammates,
02:18and we'll do that in the second half.
02:19Appreciate it.
02:20Thank you.
02:21Coach, what kind of adjustments you think these guys are going to make here
02:24coming into the second half?
02:26Well, I think it's pretty simple for Nebraska.
02:27They've got to take care of the ball.
02:29They're a team that doesn't turn it over much.
02:31They have six turnovers.
02:32When they don't, they can get whatever shot they want.
02:35And this was kind of an adjustment that was made in the first half.
02:38Those offensive rebounds, a problem for the Iowa defense.
02:41But they shut the water off on that.
02:43The five offensive rebounds that led to eight second-chance points,
02:46much better in the back half of that first half for the Hawkeyes.
02:51Lawrence has it here.
02:54Yutunjel will be on top.
02:56Mayo on him.
02:57And here's a three.
02:58Launched.
02:58And Sanford can't hit.
03:00It whistles out of bounds.
03:02And we see it again.
03:03Bennett skirts guarding Christ Sanford.
03:06He handles the ball all the time.
03:08He's their leading scorer.
03:11He plays 40 minutes a night.
03:13I mean, the energy this guy expends.
03:15We asked him about it yesterday, Rob.
03:17He said, I'm only 22 years old.
03:19That's a long three, which won't go.
03:21In the first half, we have the best combined shooting of any first half in this year's tournament.
03:2858%.
03:2830 of 51.
03:30It was a pleasure to watch.
03:31Well, let's keep it going.
03:32Because these first two shots blew of large with the way they looked.
03:36I thought I'd get that note in before we got too deep.
03:39Well, both of these teams, though, in the first top 35, ineffective field goal percentage.
03:45So, not a shock.
03:46They just haven't been able to do it a lot against each other because they're both good defensive teams.
03:53There's a look at Ben McCollum.
03:5715 consecutive 20-win seasons.
04:01Division II, last year at Drake, and now at Iowa.
04:06With it here, Sam Hoiberg.
04:10Good job by Iowa.
04:12Jumping out there.
04:12That slip to flair is so hard to guard.
04:14And Koch just jumped out there and blew it up.
04:17Smashed three.
04:20Yipton Jow out of bounds with the ball.
04:26So, here we see from the time at Northwest Missouri State, they played coach and player.
04:32At Drake last year in Des Moines, coach and player.
04:34And this year in Division, in the Big Ten, Division I, last two years after Division II.
04:43Sturks didn't have many big-time offers either.
04:46That's a three-point shot.
04:48And that will rattle out on the offering from Koch and picked up by Hoiberg.
04:53I loved talking to Bennett Sturks, just hearing him talk about the respect he has for Ben McCollum
04:58and just the loyalty that he has because he was his only offer.
05:02And to go with him the whole way, what a big part of his program.
05:05Right missed, finds two.
05:07Yeah, Ben McCollum next year is going to be a little lost when he walks out there and doesn't see
05:13Bennett Sturks.
05:14You know, Fred Hoiberg's coaching his son.
05:17Bennett Sturks has got to be almost like a son to Ben McCollum now.
05:21He faked.
05:21He fired.
05:22He finds it.
05:23Well, how big, coach, is it for Cale Combs to run that pick and roll?
05:26Hit the short roll and get Bennett Sturks just a simple step-in, catch-and-shoot three.
05:32You just saw his dad, a former high school coach in Liberty, Missouri, who is watching here, cheering on his
05:37son.
05:38Mast, triple.
05:40And the rebound lassoed by Banks.
05:50Mast has gone a little cold.
05:510-4-4 from 3 to start the second half and another turnover.
05:57Sanfort.
06:00From Waukee, Iowa.
06:02Northwest High School.
06:04And Hoiberg down low.
06:05And Mast is right there from the Netherlands.
06:07The senior plows, turns, feeds inside.
06:12Got it.
06:12Pretty good.
06:14The up-to-ing gel.
06:15Got it to go.
06:16You start helping uphill, and you're going to be in a world of hurt.
06:19That's a terrific find from Mast.
06:21And I love the way coach Buket and Gel used the other side of the rim to shield that from
06:25the shot blockers.
06:26Absolutely.
06:26I would have just stayed one-on-one.
06:29Manyal's plating pretty well.
06:30Making shoot the jump hook over the top.
06:33They go inside.
06:34Twisting, turning.
06:35Can't find it on there.
06:36Yep, Manyal lost it and picked up by Hoiberg.
06:42Looking.
06:43Ooh, the collision down low.
06:45His Mast goes right into Sturz.
06:48And a foul.
06:49That's Sam Hoiberg's fourth turnover.
06:52That is incredibly uncharacteristic.
06:55Mast picks up number one.
06:56This guy's assist-to-turnover ratio was over four-to-one during the season.
07:02He's number two in all of college basketball, number one in the assist-to-turnover in the Big Ten.
07:10Yeah, uncharacteristic of him.
07:14It's Koch.
07:19And Combs.
07:21Siege down low.
07:24Fulgaris is in.
07:25They swing it around.
07:26The passing there.
07:27And Sturz.
07:27He'll jack one up off that baseline.
07:29Wow, that's a tough shot.
07:32Tough shot.
07:34Two guys on him over the big guy on the baseline.
07:37I like that Iowa has put Sturz on the weak side and let the ball move, play off some closeouts.
07:43You know, everything doesn't have to be him always creating.
07:45They've gone to Combs in the pick-and-roll, and that's letting Sturz rest but still be involved.
07:50Absolutely.
07:50And it's gotten Sturz where he doesn't always have two on the ball.
07:55Shot clock at five.
07:58Yip-Tunjel.
08:01And the rebound taken inside by Sage.
08:04Iowa has never led.
08:06Trailing by as many as ten.
08:08Now to within two.
08:10Combs.
08:11The move for their first lead.
08:14It's a rebound by Sanford.
08:16That's a great look, though.
08:20If you get Tate Sage that shot, you'll certainly love it.
08:23I love the way Nebraska just screens in for Price Sanford.
08:26It puts so much pressure on the defense.
08:28Another turnover.
08:30Sturz on the move.
08:31Three on two.
08:32Combs.
08:33And the trailer.
08:34Got it to go.
08:35Sage.
08:36We are tied.
08:44Fighting back from ten down.
08:47The Hawkeyes have tied the game.
08:52Get out of the way when that big man comes rumbling down the lane.
08:56What a play by Cox.
08:59Yip-Tunjel got going.
09:02And Cox did not blink.
09:04Well, Iowa has come out here in this second half.
09:07And they are not backing down.
09:09The run continues on.
09:11Whether the mid-range or in the open floor.
09:13Drop it off.
09:14And you got that opportunistic offense.
09:16Iowa, how about it?
09:18Getting out and running.
09:20Back in Houston at the Sweet 16.
09:23Let's take a look at Bill Petter moment presented by Body Armor.
09:26Well, here we are.
09:29In the first half, Sanford on the kickout for the three.
09:33The offensive rebound is really hurting them.
09:35And now in the second half, they're getting Bennett Sturz more on the weak side of the floor.
09:40Where he gets to attack closeouts and go one-on-one rather than just running the pick-and-roll.
09:46A really smart adjustment because Nebraska is still going to load to pick-and-rolls whether it's Sturz or not.
09:52Even if it's Cale Combs, it's still going to be the same thing.
09:54It might not be to the degree, but to get him to that weak side.
09:58And now he has free reign to play against a single defender.
10:01And that ball is moving to him.
10:06It's Fulgaris.
10:08Out to Sturz.
10:09Takes aim from three.
10:11Oh.
10:13Tate Sage.
10:14That's a great offensive possession.
10:16It really is.
10:17Fulgaris.
10:18Nice pass.
10:19And a great pass with Tate Sage.
10:23I mean, this was a great execution of what Coach McCollum wanted, and he just missed it.
10:31Hoiberg.
10:32Sand for three.
10:34Wow.
10:34And he can get going.
10:36Even if he's missed a couple, it doesn't matter.
10:38And Nebraska's just pinning him in and letting Price in for a workout.
10:42And he does not need much time or space.
10:44I think the guy's got a shot at being an NBA player a la Duncan Robinson.
10:52Oh, and a pick-time hit outside.
10:54Koch, Romero, and triple.
10:55Wow.
10:56There are some flamethrowers out here.
10:59Yeah, really.
10:59I think Cooper Koch is going to be a heck of a player.
11:02He's got size.
11:03He can shoot.
11:04He's got toughness.
11:05Just got to get a little bit stronger and probably be able to play off the dribble a little bit
11:10more.
11:10Top 100 player out of Peoria.
11:12Coach, if you can shoot, that puts a lot of pressure to be able to drive it, too.
11:16That's the next step for him playing off closeouts.
11:19Shot clock at five.
11:20Frager will put up a three.
11:22Boy, he just can't go under right there.
11:24No matter what the scouting report says, Frager was four of his last 22 coming in from three.
11:30But he's knocked down four of them here in this game tonight.
11:33He was the only Big Ten bench player that averaged double figures this season.
11:38He is a marksman.
11:41And seven minutes gone in the second half.
11:44The winner will go to the Elite Eight.
11:47Sturtz cashing that defense.
11:49With the rebound, Sanford.
11:51Sturtz likes that matchup.
11:53He went at it the first time they played.
11:55He likes having Frager or Sanford on him and go one-on-one.
11:59They've got Sturtz back on Sanford.
12:0415-footer, Sanford.
12:06They're just putting him in floppy.
12:08And he is running Bennett Sturtz all over the floor.
12:11Well, yeah.
12:11But that time, he fell.
12:14Sturtz slipped and talked to the referee.
12:17And that's what let Sanford get open.
12:19You can't relax on Bryce Sanford.
12:23We were tied a couple minutes ago.
12:25Now it's a five-point lead.
12:26The three is launched right there.
12:28Missed by the freshman, Kosh.
12:31It's Heuberg the other way.
12:32Surging down and setting up.
12:39Frager the fake in the feed.
12:42Sanford takes it into a nest of defenders.
12:44Frager triple.
12:46With the rebound by Sturtz.
12:59Iowa 4 of 11 shooting in the second half.
13:03Koch.
13:06It's Sage and Fulgaris.
13:08Sage sets, jab step feeds, cutting, Combs two.
13:13That's a great cut by Combs and a nice look.
13:17Tate Sage has had a huge impact on this game.
13:23He's a freshman and he has been dazzling with his shooting and his passing.
13:28Combs cut it, got it for two.
13:30It's a three-point game in the Sweet 16.
13:38Bryce Sanford, an efficient 16 points on only six shots here.
13:43And he is just going to work the baseline.
13:44He's always a threat to be screened in.
13:46No matter you're in the half court, you're in transition.
13:49But you lose him for just a split second.
13:52You give him any space.
13:53He can let that thing go.
13:55Has such a quick release.
13:56And then look at the pass.
13:58Lawrence, he leads him perfectly into that curl.
14:01And he's just as efficient in the mid-range as what you see from three off the screen.
14:05Lauren, we got a three-point game here in Houston.
14:08And Robbie nailed it.
14:09I was over in the Iowa huddle.
14:10And Coach was pleased with the effort until those couple of threes.
14:13He said, they're just scoring too easy.
14:14I need pressure.
14:15We let them back in this game.
14:16Price gets nothing.
14:18He said, in what world does he ever open?
14:19I don't care if he's missed a few.
14:21Here comes Sanford.
14:24On the wing, three-launched Lawrence.
14:28With the rebound corralled on that baseline.
14:30Then shoved out of bounds.
14:32Got it.
14:32Kept it alive.
14:33Hawkeyes the other way.
14:39It's Tate Sage to Sturge.
14:42And back to Sage.
14:44A screen and a switch.
14:53Shot clock at three.
14:55Sturge will unload a three.
14:58And the rebound.
14:59Keptun Jowl.
15:00Two on the ball there, Coach.
15:02But Iowa was never able to take advantage of it.
15:04Good hands there by Nebraska to take away those lanes.
15:07Lurching down the lane.
15:09Sanford can't get it.
15:10Wow, that was a good look.
15:11He got that all the way to the rim.
15:21Then it's Sturge.
15:23Approaching the halfway mark of the second half.
15:28Koch, Sturge.
15:29He'll hatch it his way inside and get it to go with the collision.
15:33Nice finish.
15:34The Stars have stepped up.
15:37We previewed them in the open.
15:39Sturge and Sanford.
15:41And they have not disappointed.
15:42Sturge was 17.
15:48Frager.
15:50The champ step and he goes right into the defense of the backpedal in Sage.
15:55It's a foul on Tate Sage of Iowa.
15:59Well, as Coach said, the Stars are shining.
16:02Frager's coming over and it just doesn't matter for Sturge.
16:05Fulgaris, the hero of the Florida game.
16:08Freddie Hoiberg trying to lead Nebraska.
16:10What a game here in Houston.
16:119.43 to play.
16:14Back in Houston, the top 16 teams in the NHL.
16:18NHL will compete for the oldest trophy in North American sports.
16:22The Stanley Cup playoffs begin April 19th on TNT, TBS, True TV, and HBO Max.
16:32So, great shooting by two of the best defenses in the Big Ten.
16:37Yeah, so much for the grudge match here.
16:39We have had some impressive offense.
16:41The Stars playing well on the offensive end of the floor.
16:44This has been a really fun game to watch.
16:47At the line is Frager.
16:50The freshman from Southwest High and Lincoln.
16:53At the go-ahead basket against Vanderbilt with two seconds left.
16:5815 points against Vandy.
17:0013 before that in the first round game against Troy.
17:03This kid has been terrific, thrusting himself into this lineup led by coach Fred Hoiberg.
17:10Got it, Iowa State, to four straight NCAA tournaments.
17:15Led them to a sweet 16.
17:16He was the Big 12 coach of the year there.
17:19He's the Big Ten coach of the year in Lincoln this year.
17:23And has put together a terrific season.
17:25The number four seed against the nine-seed Hawkeyes.
17:28Stewart will twirl.
17:31Defense by Jacobson.
17:34It's Sage trying to pick and prod his way in.
17:37Shot clock at eight.
17:39Fulgaris.
17:40Sage.
17:41Three.
17:42No.
17:42Missed it all.
17:43Whistles out of bounds.
17:44How about the defense and how about the pressure?
17:47Nebraska, multiple guys just locking up.
17:51LG OLED Evo.
17:52The best TV in the game.
17:55Well, I didn't like that possession because it started with Sturks.
17:59They have been better when it has started with somewhere else.
18:02And I know it's tough now because Combs is out of the game.
18:05But when Sturks gets it on the weak side, he has found success.
18:09Locked and loaded.
18:11Price.
18:13Wow.
18:13And that was after Warren said the point was, we don't leave him open.
18:18That's why.
18:19His mom, Gretchen, enjoying every moment of this one.
18:22And why not?
18:23What a season for the Huskers.
18:25Well, she was wearing an Iowa jersey last year.
18:27Yes, she was.
18:30It's Sturks on top.
18:31Makes the move.
18:34They swing it around.
18:35Koch.
18:36Three.
18:36No.
18:37Defense there.
18:38Picked up Hoiberg.
18:39I think Jacobson got a piece of that.
18:41I think he did, too.
18:44Sanford again.
18:45Oh, he met, too.
18:46He was in a blunder.
18:48And the other way it rolls.
18:49Sturks.
18:50And the trailing, driving Sage up and down.
18:53And a foul.
18:55And that was just great hustle for Garris and Sturks.
19:00Excellent defense against Sanford.
19:03And then just great hustle for the loose ball.
19:06Everybody.
19:07Great hustle by Sanford.
19:09And then Sage running the floor and going strong.
19:13Yeah, not just going to lay it in, but going to turn it over and hammer it.
19:17I love the aggressiveness there by Sage in the open floor.
19:20And look at this.
19:20Five and a half a game in the regular season.
19:2213 tonight.
19:24We said before, a freshman from Oklahoma.
19:26He originally signed with Drake.
19:28And then when Ben McCollum left Drake and went to Iowa, he followed McCollum to Iowa City.
19:33And Kevin, he's shown this year that he has been capable of big moments.
19:3713 against Illinois, had 17 against Rutgers, 11 at Wisconsin.
19:41Like, even though he's a freshman, and honestly, you look at the guys that Ben McCollum brought with them.
19:48They've all just been able to take that step and come up to the Big Ten and play at a
19:53high level.
19:54Well, but Sage now with 15 points in this game, and he had 15 in the two games against Nebraska
20:03during the season.
20:07It's a three.
20:09And there's right there by Mast.
20:11Three done by Jacobson.
20:12Wow.
20:13They swing it around again.
20:15Hoiberg with five turnovers.
20:17We'll try to take it inside.
20:20Mast again.
20:23Oh, he got bushwhacked in there, knocked away.
20:27And Iowa with some pretty good defense to knock it away from the big man.
20:33The defense locking down here as we get towards winning time.
20:37Koch is hanging in.
20:39Rink Mast.
20:40He loses it going up.
20:41Koch with the block.
20:42We are getting close here.

21:01A beauty in Houston.
21:03With these two teams, Sweet 16, Sturgeon Sanford have been at the very tip of each offense.
21:09Absolutely.
21:11I'd still like to see Iowa get Sturgeon Sanford off the ball a little more and get it to him
21:17on the weak side.
21:18Sage.
21:20Inside the cut.
21:21Back out to Sturgeon.
21:22Plenty of time with Manyal with the screen.
21:25Into Manyal.
21:27Outside.
21:27Here's a three.
21:29It's off.
21:29Howard couldn't hit.
21:31Nebraska comes up with it.
21:32It's a well-executed coach, but who do you think Nebraska would rather see?
21:36Bennett Sturgeon on that weak side or Isaiah Howard?
21:39He gets a wide-open look, but just doesn't get it to fall.
21:42Isaiah Howard's a 27% three-point shooter.
21:49Jacobson.
21:51Jacobson.
21:52Hiptunjel.
21:53Shot clock at five.
21:57Hiptunjel.
21:58Rise and fire.
21:59Missed it all out of bounds.
22:01Great defensive possession by Iowa.
22:04Price Sanford coming back in.
22:06Tough for the Huskers to score without him.
22:11You got Cale Jacobson trying to make a play here, and then Bear Cave Utenjel getting back in.
22:17And, yeah, kind of a lost and wasted possession there after the stop.
22:24Sturks.
22:27Look at the way they're just corralling.
22:29I mean, they're not leaving until he is giving the ball up.
22:33In they go.
22:35Out they go.
22:36This to tie.
22:36Koch.
22:37Wow.
22:38What a pass by Mannyau.
22:40Great pass from Sturks, giving the hockey assist.
22:44But then Mannyau, that is an outstanding pass out to Koch.
22:48I love the way Mannyau is just working that baseline, looking for open space there off the pick-and-roll.
22:53And for a three.
22:54Wow.
22:55Oh.
23:02That's incredible.
23:04I mean, he didn't get a lot of space there or a lot of time.
23:07But enough to knock it down.
23:09But enough to knock it down.
23:15Under six to go.
23:17It's Sturks.
23:20Koch.
23:22The three won't go.
23:24The rebound retrieved by KO Jacobson.
23:27Played a great possession there by Jacobson.
23:29B to the ball and help, and then get back to close out for the shooter.
23:38It's Sanford down a screen.
23:41Jacobson on top.
23:42And again, we're getting down to single digits.
23:46Hoiberg's 3-0.
23:48Rebound over the top.
23:49Mast was clubbed.
23:50It's out of bounds.
23:52It's off of Nebraska.
23:53It's Iowa's ball.
23:55Well, here it is.
23:56Price Sanford sets a back screen.
23:59Just comes off.
24:00Takes at it.
24:01Handoff and rises up.
24:04Mast.
24:06He's fine.
24:08They should have gotten in the ball inside.
24:11He had Bennett Sturks on him.
24:13They didn't even look to him in the post.
24:17Look at the three-point shooting.
24:19Iowa 28% in the first two games tonight.
24:23Knocked him down.
24:24And they knocked down another one with Fulgaris.
24:27And we're tied again.
24:30Fourth tie.
24:37It's Hoiberg.
24:40Jacobson trying to penetrate with a bump and a spin and a feed.
24:44And Hoiberg's got it.
24:46He'll reposition inside.
24:48Carving his way.
24:49He couldn't get it to drop.
24:50And it's picked up inside by Sage.
24:52And I would think we would see Fulgar coming back pretty quickly.
24:56Boy, Mast had sealed that thing all the way off there.
24:59Sam Hoiberg, I think, could have gotten another step and had the easier layup at the rim.
25:04We're going to get Fulgar and Lawrence coming back in.
25:07Combs outside.
25:09Fulgaris drives.
25:11Feeds.
25:12Back on top.
25:13Swinging around.
25:14Combs.
25:15No.
25:15The three won't drop.
25:16That was great ball movement.
25:18Oh, man.
25:19Great ball movement.
25:20The Cornhuskers are just living in rotation.
25:22But they're playing so hard.
25:24They're just making them make the next play.
25:26Cale Combs couldn't knock it down.
25:28Iowa has never led.
25:30In the corner.
25:32Jacobson three.
25:33With the rebound retrieved right there by Tate Sage.
25:36Tate Sage's got six.
25:42I would think this is the lineup that Ben McCollum will finish with.
25:47We have not seen much of Tavion Banks tonight.
25:50Sturge for the lead.
25:52Way off.
25:53But retrieved by Koch.
25:54Offensive rebound Iowa.
25:56Three and a half to go.
25:58The stars have been good and the freshmen have been good.
26:05Fulgaris.
26:06Back for the lead.
26:08Short again.
26:09And picked up by Jacobson.
26:11Buket and Jell was so ready to rotate and take away the pick and pop.
26:15Just a great awareness there that Iowa was looking for that with two on starts.
26:21Timeout.
26:2165 apiece.
26:23Four ties.
26:24Iowa has never led.
26:26The stars are out for each of these Big Ten teams.
26:29From Houston on TBS.
26:34I want to remind you to cheer on your favorite NCAA team with officially licensed fan gear.

26:47Tied at 65.
26:48The winner to the Elite Eight.
26:50Yeah, well, I think, look, we had a high-scoring first half.
26:53It's 22-19 in this half.
26:55I think with Nebraska, they have got to use Bryce Sanford coming off screens.
27:02Whether he can get the shot or not, the gravity that creates can open up other things.
27:06And for Iowa, I think it's to move that Sturtz action off the ball.
27:10If you set ball screens, Nebraska's just bringing two defenders.
27:13We'll see how these two great coaches react out of that timeout.
27:17Three minutes to go.
27:18Masked on top.
27:19Sturtz almost knocked it away.
27:21Sanford's got it.
27:22Doubled.
27:23Treacherous.
27:24In the corner for the lead.
27:26The three.
27:27No.
27:28It's picked up by Iowa.
27:29Crab by Tate Sage.
27:31Maybe a little fatigued now because a lot of those three-point shots were dropping, Robbie, for 35 minutes.
27:38And they have struggled down the stretch here.
27:41They got a wide-open shot.
27:42Sanford's stepping through there.
27:44That was really good offense.
27:47Fulgaris and a foul.
27:50And it's called on Jamarcus Lawrence.
27:54It's his second.
27:55Keep the adrenaline going.
27:57HGTV designers and celebrity partners go head-to-head.
28:02Renovating four Vegas homes on Rock the Block.
28:06April 13th at 8 on HGTV.
28:08Well, and both teams can be physical and aggressive defensively because they're nowhere near the bonus either team.
28:16Three-team fouls on Nebraska.
28:18Only one on Iowa.
28:21Koch.
28:22Sturtz for the lead.
28:23Oh, man!
28:27It's the first by the Hawkeyes!
28:36Lawrence.
28:47He'll un-cork a three.
28:50Rebound.
28:50Lassoed inside by Fulgaris.
28:52Well, they tried to go to Sanford on the handoff.
28:55I like him running off screens on the baseline.
28:58A little harder to get two guys on him that way.
29:02Every handoff's going to be a blitz now.
29:04I like the urgency that Iowa had.
29:06Pick and pop.
29:07They were running to just getting the vision of rink mass right there.
29:10Really good effort by the Hawkeyes.
29:13Sturtz with 20.
29:14In the corner.
29:16That's a three.
29:17Got it!
29:17Big-time hit take, Sage!
29:26Nine-nothing Hawkeye run.
29:29Hoiberg.
29:30Sanford.
29:31Triple A.
29:32No!
29:33Rebound.
29:34Picked up.
29:35Frager.
29:35Triple.
29:45Back and forth we go.
29:47Iowa's on top.
29:54We've seen a combined 25 threes on 62 tries.
30:00Sturtz right here with the kick.
30:02And then he got it back and unleashed a triple.
30:08And then Frager at the other end.
30:11The freshman trills one home.
30:14Frager has been incredible.
30:17And this place is rocking right now.
30:20And how about Sturtz?
30:21Jamarcus Lawrence.
30:22You put all that.
30:23Look at this pass.
30:24Oh, my goodness.
30:25Fulguris!
30:29What happened?
30:30Well, that was a major defensive breakdown there.
30:43Watch it again.
30:45Well, they just don't guard Fulguris.
30:48And he's waving for it.
30:49How about the vision there?
30:51Buked and Jell trying to get back in the play.
30:53Wait a minute.
30:54I think Nebraska only had four defenders on the floor.
30:58They did.
30:59And Rinkmast is not on the floor.
31:01Nebraska, that is a major breakdown.
31:04They didn't even have five guys on the floor when Iowa was inbounding.
31:11You can't match up like that.
31:13Here's the former Horizon League Player of the Year, Robert Morris.
31:18Fouled on the play.
31:19Hits the free throw.
31:21Six-point lead, Iowa.
31:22Biggest tonight.
31:23Hoiberg the other way.
31:25Urgency now written all over the Cornhuskers.
31:27It's Sanford.
31:29A three.
31:29And a rebound.
31:31Fulguris tore it away.
31:33Foul called, and Iowa can feel it.
31:36How big has Fulguris been in this tournament?
31:39He hit the shot against Florida.
31:41He just had the dunk in a three-point play, and now a rebound in traffic.
31:47Maybe the biggest defensive rebound of the year for Iowa.
31:52Well, how about also Ben McCollum going away from Tavion Banks and Cam Mannyau and going to this lineup?
31:59He's just pushing all the right buttons here for the Hawkeyes.
32:02Well, Fulguris wide open down the floor again.
32:05They just didn't see him.
32:06But at least that time, Nebraska had five guys on the floor.
32:12That is crazy.
32:13It is crazy.
32:14I don't think I'd seen that in a long time.
32:16Very disappointing that that happened in a game this big, such a big possession.
32:23Three-point game, and you don't get five guys on the floor coming out of a timeout.
32:29Combs is going to win bound.
32:3342 seconds to go.
32:36One timeout, the Huskers.
32:39Two timeout, the Hawkeyes.
32:40Picked up by Sterks in backcourt.
32:43Combs.
32:45And they get it off to Tate Sage.
32:48Fulguris!
32:49Hammers it home!
32:5414-3 Iowa run!
32:57Mast!
32:58Three!
32:59No!
32:59It goes back out.
33:01Jacobson uncorks a three.
33:03No!
33:05And they keep it alive.
33:07Long shot Sanford will not go.
33:10Back out Jacobson.
33:14Bilttonjau.
33:15His three.
33:16No!
33:16Sage has got it.
33:18Hoiberg tries to rip it away.
33:22Foul Hoiberg.
33:24Well, look.
33:26Bennett Sterks did what he does in this game, but Fulguris and Tate Sage, to me, have been the stars.
33:36Well, the legend of Alvaro Fulguris just continues to grow and grow.
33:41The three against Florida, the performance here tonight, and the exclamation point there with the slam.
33:47They have 37 points off the bench.
33:53Iowa does.
33:57It's Tate who hits the first, but Fulguris has been such an incredible story.
34:03Sturtz leads him with 20.
34:06Sage has put in 19 off the bench.
34:09Fulguris, 16 off the bench.
34:11Incredible totals for the bench players in the final seconds.
34:15Here comes Nebraska.
34:17Sanford three.
34:18He got it there.
34:20Three-point-one left.
34:22Kachal inbound.
34:23Nebraska led for most of this game.
34:25And then Iowa just with a great finish.
34:29The Iowa Hawkeyes are going to the Elite Eight.
34:33Coming from behind to win.
34:48Iowa led for only two minutes and eight seconds of the game.
34:53To your point, Coach Van Gundy, they were down by ten.
35:04Well, this is the one that wrapped it up.
35:07How do you come out of a timeout, up three, at that point in the game,
35:12and only have four defenders in the game,
35:14and then Fulguris just puts the exclamation point on it.
35:19This guy right now has been as good as anybody in the NCAA tournament.
35:23Iowa is the lowest-seeded Big Ten team to ever reach the Elite Eight.
35:29They're a nine-seed.
35:31And they're going to play the winner of Illinois and Houston coming up.
35:36Let's go to Lauren Shahadi.
35:38Coach, congratulations.
35:39You said if you're a tough dude, Iowa is the place for you.
35:42How did that manifest tonight?
35:44Well, it didn't to start the game.
35:46Yeah, it didn't, right?
35:46Yeah, then we get out of the back end, and that's part of toughness
35:49is not having your best stuff and then being able to turn around
35:52and our kids didn't.
35:53With 57, 56 seconds left, did you see there were only four defenders?
35:58I didn't, but Alvaro did, which is the guy that needed to see it.
36:01I didn't understand why it was so open.
36:03And then all of a sudden we threw it deep, and I'm like, oh, there we go.
36:06That was a heck of a deal.
36:07How about this guy?
36:08Part of your family.
36:09Man, congratulations.
36:10How are you so calm in such big moments?
36:13Man, first off, God is good.
36:15He's going to test you.
36:16Not everything's perfect in life, but he's good.
36:19And, man, it's so worth it for my teammates.
36:21And, yeah, they deserve every bit of it, especially our fans.
36:25It has been, you and Coach, every step of the way.
36:29How has he changed your life, Bennett?
36:30Yeah, that's my guy.
36:32It's been a long four years, but it's also been a short four years.
36:35And I've grown not just a basketball player, but as a man.
36:39Credit to him.
36:40Most importantly, congratulations heading to the Elite Eight.
36:43Yeah, appreciate it.
36:43Thank you.
36:44Kevin.
36:44For two straight years, Bennett Sturtz has been an honorable bench in All-America.
36:49A first-team All-Big Ten player.
36:51Now, he's taken his team to the Elite Eight.
36:55Iowa going to the Elite Eight for the first time in 39 seasons.
37:01Coming up next on TBS, Illinois and Houston will take you to our studios for Capital One Tournament Central.
37:10After these messages, the Iowa Hawkeyes have beaten the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
