00:00Очень сильно lost two family members
00:02and he hurt his knee, was told he likely would never play basketball again,
00:06but here he is, eight years later, not only playing, but thriving.
00:09He told us that basketball has been a great escape for him, especially on a day like today.
00:13I had to jump from a third story window and said I was felt like point two seconds away
00:18from not surviving the house fire.
00:21Losing the two people closest to him, he has perspective every day.
01:23And he said, listen, there's some serious guys on my team who don't like to smile a lot.
01:28Guys like Nas Reed, Jaden McDaniels, and even I've gotten those guys to crack a smile a little bit
01:32and enjoy each and every day because we're playing a beautiful game like basketball, Dave.
01:37And it was great.
01:38Again, we were in there with him for probably eight to ten minutes,
01:40and all of us were lighting up talking with him.
01:43You can really sense how much he appreciates the second chance at life that he's been given.
01:48And he and DeSumo have been lifesavers.
01:51There you see him go and try to get off the triple job there.
01:54They have been lifesavers with the pace they've injected
01:57and the punch they've provided off the bench.
02:01Kevin Durant, one for eight from the floor.
02:04He kicks it out.
02:04Smith's three is on target.
02:06His first triple of the game and the fourth for Houston back within one.
02:13Second assist for KD.
02:16Reed body-to-body with Jabari Smith.
02:20Reed regathers.
02:23And Smith blocks it.
02:26There's been 13 combined blocks in this game.
02:31Conley trying to get to the loose ball.
02:33Out of bounds will stay with Houston.
02:39Let's watch some of the defense by Jabari Smith, who's coming off the made three.
02:43Good no whistle there.
02:45I think this one nods a little bit more frustrated.
02:51But, I don't know, a little marginal there.
02:54There's been a level of physicality in this game allowed on both sides.
02:58Do you agree?
02:59Yes, absolutely.
03:00And there it looked like maybe there was contact by Gobert on the follow-through to the arm of Durant.
03:06Durant just one for nine.
03:07McDaniels in the line.
03:08Yeah, McDaniels.
03:14A lot of times we watch high-level offense and say it feels like a playoff game.
03:18Yeah.
03:19This feels like a playoff game for a different reason.
03:21Because of the physicality.
03:23And both teams know what's at stake as that hits the leg of Capella out of bounds.
03:27As Shepard lost his footing.
03:29It'll be Minnesota ball when we come back.
03:32Houston trailing on the road by three.
03:35The NBA on ESPN.
03:37Presented all season long by State Farm.
03:39It's brought to you by Advil Liquid Chels.
03:42Targets pain caused by inflammation for fast and strong relief.
03:47And Popeyes.
03:48Love that chicken from Popeyes.
03:50Tonight's DraftKings sportsbook player Paul says you look at what Randall and Durant did in the first meeting
03:55and what they're doing so far in tonight's game.

04:04They pass Doris Burke.
04:06George Sedano back here in Minnesota.
04:08With the Timberwolves leading the Rockets by three and a potential tie-breaking situation if Houston were to win,
04:14could be big in the standings.
04:15I think you can feel.
04:17I know it's been sloppy.
04:19There's 14 total turnovers, only five steals.
04:22So it's been sloppy in both sides.
04:24Neither team's shooting it great.
04:25But, man, these guys are playing incredibly hard.
04:28You can tell there is a lot on the line in this matchup.
04:33Jay McDaniels knocks down the floater.
04:36He's got nine points to lead Minnesota in scoring.
04:39He's averaging 17 during the four games Anthony Edwards has missed.
04:44Durant just one for nine.
04:45Now one for ten.
04:46Comes up short.
04:47Offensive rebound, Eason.
04:52And bad spacing between Durant and Eason.
04:55Durant said, my bad.
04:57Now skips to Smith.
04:58Shen Goon.
05:00Straight on three.
05:01Not close.
05:03He's like a batter in the batter's box.
05:06Check swinging on that.
05:09He's not confident in that three-point shot.
05:12I believe he has the ability.
05:14But, Dave, he's getting clean looks.
05:16Like, he's capable.
05:18You look at what he's shooting over the last several games by percentage.
05:21It's incredibly high.
05:23Like 60%.
05:25Like, just trust it.
05:28McDaniels.
05:29Countdown time at Gobert.
05:30Untouched underneath.
05:31Gets the easy put-back dunk.
05:33And the lead is back to seven.
05:35Minnesota is led by as many as eight.
05:37Houston is not led in this low-scoring affair.
05:40With just outside a minute remaining in the second quarter.
05:45Good first half.
05:46Gobert all the way around.
05:48Durant's three.
05:49Swishes through.
05:50Just his second field goal in ninth point.
05:55Averaging 26 on the season.
05:57Good for 10th in the NBA.
05:59Highland off the screen from Gobert.
06:01Can't get the triple try.
06:04Well, how many screens has Rudy set a game
06:06that gets teammates wide-open shots?
06:11Shang-Goon.
06:12The defender leaves, so Shang-Goon hits the 12-footer.
06:16I mean, that's where he's super confident, right?
06:18Foul line it down.
06:20He finishes either hand.
06:22He's got a ton of great footwork.
06:24But he's got to make those perimeter shots to balance that.
06:28He's only made 31 threes on the year.
06:30McDaniels fouled on the drive.
06:32First in the last two minutes on Houston in the active shooting.
06:38So, two free throws coming up.
06:41Gets downhill.
06:42You see the defender, as you said.
06:44Conley leaves him.
06:45Gobert a little bit late to step up.
06:48He's got good touch.

07:01Amen Thompson just went to the bench,
07:03picking up his third foul.
07:06Seafoans Highland on the Minnesota sideline.
07:12And one out of two for McDaniels.
07:15Ten-second difference in the game in shot clocks
07:18here at the end of the first half.
07:22Houston going to try to go for a two-for-one here.
07:26Conley doing a good job on Shepard.
07:32Easton into the lane.
07:34Kicks it outside.
07:38Shengun goes at the shot clock.
07:40And Gobert missed it inside.
07:42Loose ball cleaned up Easton.
07:43Another block.
07:44The put-back attempt no.
07:46Then Shengun cleans it up inside.
07:51Eight seconds to go in the half.
07:53Minnesota's lead down to one.
07:55McDaniels with three to Conley with one.
07:59And Conley throws it away.
08:01And the half comes to an end.
08:03Scott Foster says hold up.
08:05May need to put a little time back on the clock.
08:10By the way, Kevin Durant, two for 11.
08:12That ties his...
08:13Got out of bounds prior to the expiration of time.
08:16Kevin Durant, two for 11.
08:18Ties the second worst shooting in a first half in his career.
08:23Wow.
08:23His worst was as a rookie.
08:24He had a one for 12 first half.
08:28Back in Seattle in 08.
08:30Oh, my God.
08:33Seattle coming back, by the way.
08:35Yes.
08:36Amen.
08:36And Las Vegas.
08:40After a few, it's been turning the ball.
08:41Went out of bounds with 0.3.
08:46We'll have to throw this one down court.
08:58And Scott Foster saying, wait a second.
09:02He blew the whistle.
09:03The horn didn't sound.
09:08The teams are walking off.
09:11Scott Foster is saying no shot, but now he's at the monitor.
09:23We're being told it's halftime, but not sure if Foster needed to look at something there.
09:31Anyway, halftime presented by Hyundai coming up.
09:33How about the Spurs?
09:35They win again.
09:36Wemby wows again.
09:37Malika, Coach Malone, Wendy, and Perk will have that and much more.
09:42One-point game at halftime.
09:45Minnesota without Anthony Edwards leading Houston by one.
09:55Welcome back to NBA Wednesday, presented by State Farm.
09:58Part of the playoff push presented by Advil.
10:01Big game in the standings between the Rockets and Wolves.
10:04They are tied with Denver.
10:06Four, five, and six in the West.
10:08Our first half stats brought to you by Royal Caribbean.
10:11Both teams shoot under 40% from the floor.
10:14How about 15 total blocks, and the Wolves made the most of nine Houston turnovers.
10:20Dave Pasch, Doris Burke, and George Sedano.
10:22We showed you that stat with the blocks.
10:24While the offense wasn't good, you've got to give credit to two very good defenses.
10:28It was physical.
10:29There was a lot of contact, and you were met with an awful lot of resistance inside the paint.
10:34Let's watch Alprin Cengu, who is challenged defensively, do a little help and recover.
10:40It looks like Rudy's got the angle.
10:41He does a nice job fighting his way back.
10:44Rudy returns the favor.
10:45That was close to a block.
10:47I mean, a goaltend, but a man with a sensational challenge at the rim.
10:51And Rudy says twice on the pipes there.
10:54How about Houston was nine for 23 in the paint?
10:59Let's check in with George.
11:00Guys, I spoke to Wolves head coach Chris Finch about how they're guarding Kevin Durant.
11:04He credited the combination of Jaden McDaniels, who's taking the brunt of that assignment,
11:08and Rudy Gobert, who's helping McDaniels.
11:11In regards to Kevin Durant's first half, though, nine of his 11-shot attempts were contested.
11:15On those attempts, Durant just shot one of nine from the floor,
11:19and those two guys are the biggest reason why, Dave.
11:22He's fouled here coming off the screen, George, trying to get open.
11:25He did have two baskets, which now puts him eighth all-time in NBA history
11:30for most field goals made, passing Dirk Nowitzki.
11:34On Saturday, he moved past Michael Jordan into fifth all-time on the NBA scoring list.
11:40He's now about 1,300 points away from passing Kobe Bryant for fourth.
11:45Jaden McDowell, how McDaniels picked up the foul, another miss for Durant.
11:49And just to George's point, he's well north of 40% this year on contested shots.
11:57So that half, as you noted, going back to 2008, the last time he had that kind of half,
12:02like, it's highly unusual.
12:05So consistent, game in, game out, year in, year out.
12:09Three-pointers short from Shepard.
12:12He's won for four from three after going three for 14 last game.
12:17McDaniels in the lane, good contest by Durant.
12:24Second of three meetings, Houston won the first.
12:27If the Rockets win tonight, they would have the tiebreaker.
12:30These teams trying to get to that four spot to get home court in the first round
12:34as Houston leads for the first time on the Shen Gunn shot
12:37to give him a game-high 12 points.
12:42Here's Conley, who got the start for the injured Ayut Kusumu,
12:45who is starting for the injured Anthony Edwards.
12:47And now Shingun, a foul, his second.
12:53So Shingun, we talk about it, free throw line and down.
12:56There's a lot of guile to his game.
12:58He's going to use footwork.
13:00He's going to use shot bakes.
13:01He's going to use a lot of different things to get into his scoring.
13:05Deep three, DiVincenzo.
13:08It's running.
13:08Dante DiVincenzo with his third three-pointer.
13:12He's dangerous.
13:14Think about the year, how highly productive he was from three with the Knicks.
13:20Made 283 of those two years ago.
13:23He's got 203 this year.
13:26Shingun from mid-range again swishes at home.
13:28You see the touch he's got, and he hasn't been shy about attacking Rudy Gobert.
13:37DiVincenzo around the Gobert screen.
13:39The step through the lob, and a catch by Gobert.
13:42And that's Shingun, you see the frustration.
13:44But that has to do with Shepard, right?
13:46And that's what you saw at the end of the Chicago game.
13:49For as much as Shepard provides on the offensive end, defensively, they're going to go at him.
13:58Durant, not much air space.
14:00Drives.
14:01Missed the shot inside.
14:02He's shaking up as he hits the deck and a Minnesota foul.
14:07With a shot to the face.
14:10Gobert picks up his third foul.
14:13Durant 4 of 4 at the line.
14:14He'll get two more here.
14:16He's got two on him, and he elects to go.
14:19There's the contact from Rudy, and another situation where Rudy, again, hits somebody in the face.
14:25Right at the end of this, as he's trying to challenge, that hand's going to come down, and he took
14:30a shot.
14:32While our first game was on the air, and if you weren't watching on ESPN News,
14:37there was a hard foul that Rudy Gobert committed that they went to the monitor to look to see if
14:41it was flagrant,
14:42which is very significant because the next flagrant foul would be an automatic two-game suspension for Gobert.
14:49Minnesota cannot afford that with the injuries they have and just nine games left in the season after tonight.
14:55That one clearly was incidental.
14:57That's why they didn't look at the monitor, as Durant makes both foul shots.
15:00And you have to admire, like, listen, he does that a lot, but it's because he is going after every
15:06shot.
15:07Like, he takes serious his role as rim protector.
15:11Dave Vincenzo, nice hands, Durant, with the deflection, two-on-one.
15:15Shingun, all the way.
15:17Missed the shot inside as he tried to shield McDaniels.
15:20Yeah, but he was looking for the foul when he could have had the opposite rebound.
15:24And then Randall throws it away.
15:25His fourth turnover against just three baskets for Julius Randall.
15:31And some of these turnovers tonight have been just unforced, sloppy.
15:41He had five steals.
15:43Now he got another turnover here as Durant is telling, giving instructions to Shepard.
15:49After the foul is called on Durant his first, so that's another turnover.
15:54So you got a combined 19 turnovers and only five steals.
16:01Yeah.
16:08Three minutes into the third, tie game.
16:11Randall almost threw another one into the seats.
16:15Saved by Conley.
16:16Shot clock at three.
16:18Randall spinning, gets in the way.
16:22Ball batted around and out of bounds.
16:25Going to stay with Minnesota.
16:27Amen Thompson's ability to stay in front, to not allow that offensive player to get past him.
16:34And on the rare occasion that they get an angle, his ability to rear view challenge, he is just ridiculous.
16:45Conley trying to free himself from Shepard.
16:48His three, two strong.
16:49Rebound Smith, who's got 11 points and six boards.
16:53Good bounce back game for Jabari Smith.
16:55Durant pulls up and hits.
16:56He's got 13.
16:58Houston up two.
16:59No matter what kind of jumper it is, it's usually good.
17:04Only a matter of time before Durant gets going as Gobert cleans it up inside.
17:11Ten, make that 12 points.
17:13Eight rebounds, four blocks for Gobert.
17:16There's been a lot of, like, looking at the officials all night.
17:20You know, hand motion, eye rolling, a lot.
17:25Durant's been doing a good part of that as well.
17:27Shepard, wide open, corner three.
17:30And Gobert pinballs it to himself, knocked out of bounds by Smith.
17:35And Reed Shepard just one for five from three.
17:39Four for his last 19.
17:42And Houston needs it because Durant's not scoring tonight.
17:46Yes, Smith has stepped up.
17:47Shingun's been solid.
17:49But that's why Shepard's in the starting line.
17:53McDaniels driving in Shingun.
17:56And McDaniels hits the turnaround.
17:58He just, he shows you some things on the offensive end, doesn't he?
18:03Five for nine.
18:04That's a tough shot.
18:05That's what I was talking about in the first half.
18:07Like, he can make shots at a high level.
18:10Smith drives, scores with the left.
18:14Notted up at 53 apiece.
18:16That's 13 now for Smith.
18:21McDaniels and Gobert, the leading scorers for Minnesota with 12 apiece.
18:26Randall just three for ten from the floor.
18:29Working on Smith.
18:30And he proddies in and then hits the shot over him.
18:40The Mike fight.
18:43And the crowd reacting to it.
18:46They appreciate the effort defensively from the 38-year-old.
18:50And Goon with the stuff.
18:54Good little burst by Shepard.
18:57Playing in the pocket with Kevin Durant.
19:0216 now.
19:03A game high for Alfred Shepard.
19:05Randall fouled by Smith.
19:09He'll go to the free throw line when we come back to Minnesota.
19:12Shepard now with 16 points.
19:15He's coming off a triple-double.
19:16Just takes the pocket pass.
19:18Attacks the rim.
19:19Good finish.
19:20Good finish.
19:22Good finish.
19:24Good finish.
19:24Good finish.
19:25Welcome back to NBA Wednesday presented by State Farm.
19:29Here are Friday's women's Sweet 16 matchups on ESPN.
19:32In the app, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt at 2.30.
19:35And the top seed, UConn, taking on North Carolina.
19:38Followed by Minnesota against another number one seed in UCLA.
19:42And the night finishes the 2-3 matchup in that region, Duke and LSU.
19:47Let's just talk about the quote of the week from Shea Ralph.
19:50Of course, long-time assistant coach to UConn, Cina Auriemie.
19:53You know what she said?
19:54We need to prepare women for battle.
19:57We can teach them to be kind and whip a little ass, is what she said.
20:02That's true, Shea Ralph.
20:07Randall at the line.
20:09He's 0 for 1 at the stripe.
20:10Just 8 points.
20:12He gets the bounce.
20:13Here's George.
20:14Guys, KD has an NIL deal.
20:18He's working through with Nike for his alma mater, the University of Texas.
20:22He has 17 athletes, including Lady Longhorn superstar Madison Booker,
20:26who's been donning the custom colorway of the KD19 sneaker,
20:30which is officially set to release this June.
20:33But again, 16 more athletes beyond that, including Dia Bell,
20:36future quarterback to the Texas Longhorns, son of Raja Bell,
20:40former NBA player.
20:41And sports like basketball, football, baseball, softball, golf, soccer, swimming,
20:46and volleyball.
20:47So, KD spreading the wealth there, NIL-wise, with Yvonne Mamad.
20:52Meanwhile, Randall at the basket.
20:53George, that's the new world we are living in.
20:55I mean, you have players being asked to take on general manager roles
21:01so that they can help fund NIL.
21:04And a foul here on Minnesota, as DiVincenzo collides with them in Thompson.
21:11You can feel the pressure that Minnesota's trying to apply, though.
21:16So, in the first half, Kevin Durant had what is close to Texas Orange.
21:22I don't know if it's exactly Texas Orange, but close enough.
21:24But now he's changed to a different color.
21:28He's got...
21:29I don't think those are gold.
21:30I think that's yellow.
21:35You're unsure as well.
21:37Three-pointer no good from Eason.
21:39I'm saying it was a sparkly Texas burnt orange,
21:42and it's definitely yellow, sparkly yellow.
21:45Reed spins, lost the ball, gets it back.
21:49Good waypoint of the third quarter.
21:50Minnesota by three.
21:52Now by six on the Rand triple.
21:54I love Niles' ability to move.
21:59And then once he has, you know, got his feet set and the ball is delivered,
22:04the ability to release it that quickly,
22:08it is a big-time skill.
22:10He played 151 threes on the season
22:14as Thompson gets that one to fall
22:16for his first field goal of the game.
22:23Dave Vincenzo coming off the Randall screen,
22:25drives, and a foul called on him in.
22:28Thompson, that's four.
22:29Let's see if Emei Udoka keeps him on the court.
22:33He's having a word or two.
22:35This is Nas.
22:36So, a little misshandle, he gets it back.
22:38He's going to slip to the corner right away.
22:40I mean, it's like a tenth of a second from foot down to quick into that shot
22:47before Shingun could challenge.
22:50He is one of the most popular guys in the locker room now, as Reed.
22:54He's got, who knows, Joe is talking trash probably to his own team if I know Joe Ingles.
22:59There's that quick release again.
23:00This time it's off target.
23:02So, a man Thompson gets a breather with those four fouls.
23:04Reed Shepard checks back in.
23:08Does five points for Shepard.
23:11Shingun's got 16.
23:13Durant has 13, but three for 13 shooting.
23:16Getting deep.
23:17Shingun spinning and scoring with the left.
23:19He needs to stop looking at the official Shingun.
23:22He's just too talented to stop.
23:24Just play.
23:30Bones Highland, quiet night for him, but he attacks there and scores his second field goal, fifth point.
23:38Averaging about 20 during the four-game absence for Anthony Edwards.
23:42Wolves have won three of those four.
23:44Shepard, another miss.
23:45This time from two-point range.
23:53Rebel penetrating, hanging, missing.
23:56Reed got the rebound and fouled.
23:59Reed's activity is having a big-time impact.
24:04Jabari Smith picks up a second foul, third team foul.
24:07You talked about it.
24:08Bones, who has been electric in these four games.
24:11Little handoff taken from Nas.
24:13Little change of pace.
24:16Heeson is an excellent defender, so you have to shake him loose with a little something.
24:2117 points and 11 rebounds from the Minnesota bench as Smith strips.
24:27And out of bounds, it's going to be Minnesota ball.
24:29Last touch by Shepard.
24:33Four team fouls on the Rockets.
24:36Three against Minnesota.
24:374-0-4 to go in the third.
24:39Four-point lead for the Wolves.
24:42McDaniels.
24:43Can't get the 18-footer.
24:50Game two of a four-game road trip for Houston.
24:52They have ten games left after tonight.
24:56Six are against under 500 teams.
24:58Normally, you'd say that's great, but Houston's had its problems with sub-500s.
25:02Ten losses among the most in the NBA.
25:05And Durant fouled by Reed on the drive.
25:08Four seconds left on the clock.
25:10That's Kevin Durant communicating with Reed.
25:13Like, he wanted Jaden McDaniels off him.
25:16Jaden is such an excellent defender.
25:19It's been a matchup all night.
25:21Two guys respectively going at one another.
25:23But he gets Nas to commit the foul with four seconds left.
25:27All right, so then that puts the shot clock back to 14.
25:30Third foul on Reed.
25:37Shepard draws Reed on the switch.
25:40Shepard hooked away by Reed.
25:42Hyland racing into the frontcourt.
25:46McDaniels finishes.
25:49McDaniels can put some pressure on him, folks.
25:52With the ball in transition, and he's absorbing a tough assignment, Knightley, on the defensive end.
26:01Points off turnovers, 14-2 in favor of Minnesota, as McDaniels fouls Durant.
26:08They're over the limit, so free throws for Durant.
26:10Three fouls on McDaniels now.
26:14Durant, 6 of 6 at the line tonight.
26:1613 points.
26:18Five assists as well.
26:23He had 40 points on Monday, tying a season high.
26:26His second 40-point game this season.
26:34Unlikely to get there at this point, but there's still 18 minutes and 15 minutes left.
26:40So you never know.
26:43Josh Okogie checking into the game.
26:47He has not played yet tonight, so Emei Udoka
26:52going to shift up the rotation here.
26:55I just don't think it can be overstated how big an absence Fred VanVleet and Steven Adams are.
27:00Great point.
27:01Yeah, it's just...
27:07They...
27:07Basically, he's not coming back.
27:09There was some hope that he would return, but not doing enough on the court to be in a position
27:15to return.
27:16And Adams out for the season after ankle surgery.
27:19Highlands 3, not there.
27:21Rebounded by Smith.
27:22Quick outlet, Durant.
27:25Durant working on McDaniels.
27:29Feeds Smith.
27:313, no good.
27:33Batted around.
27:33Capella's got it.
27:37Kyle Anderson defending Durant.
27:41Eason drives.
27:43Wild shot.
27:44Rebounded by Reed.
27:50Reed all the way.
27:51Missed the shot inside.
27:54And out to Highland.
27:56Deep one.
27:56It's good.
28:01Timeout Houston.
28:03Bones Highland starting to get it going here in the third quarter.
28:09Oh, he's hitting him with the flutter.
28:11We don't even know what it means.
28:12He doesn't either.
28:13He wants somebody to come up with a nickname on that one.
28:15But let's watch a little Jaden McDaniels.
28:18These are two good friends.
28:19Jaden getting a word from Ant.
28:21It's been a career year for Jaden.
28:24Ant saying, get busy, young fella.
28:26We need you.
28:27So get out and transition.
28:29Watch this finish.
28:30Bones Highland's little touch pass.
28:32And then Bones, we keep talking about it, energy, positivity.
28:37A little three doesn't hurt on occasion either.
28:4668-61 with two minutes to go in the third quarter.
28:49Minnesota in front.
28:50Dave Pasch, Doris Burke, and George Sedano here in Minneapolis.
28:54The Rockets have missed their last seven three-pointers.
28:57They're just five for 16 on the day.
28:59So Durant will go mid-range and miss again.
29:02He is three for 14 from the floor.
29:04One of the worst shooting nights of his career.
29:07And when he doesn't have it going, you combine everybody else.
29:10It's brutal.
29:10But listen, you think it, like, their offense right now is 10th offensive efficiency, right?
29:16But it's so deceptive because since January 3rd, in virtually every shooting category, they have just been abysmal.
29:25And there's an out-of-control drive-by a man.
29:29And it just can be very hard to watch them offensively.
29:33Yeah, the rating is 22nd since January 1st.
29:36Highland's three, no good.
29:37Gobert trying to save it, does, to Kyle Anderson.
29:44And they're going to wave it off and say a foul on Minnesota.
29:57Fourth foul on Gobert.
29:59Free throws on the other end for Houston.
30:03Well, first of all, you love the effort and the hustle.
30:05You've got a lot of white guys, you know, the white jerseys standing around not doing much.
30:11And that's the weak side call against Rudy Gobert.
30:14He's frustrated because he feels like down the other end, he was hit in the head by Shen Goon on
30:20one of his attempts.
30:21There was no whistle.
30:25Houston 12 of 12 at the line.
30:28Shen Goon 2 of 2.
30:29A team-high 18 points.
30:32You mentioned the efficiency has been much better of late for Shen Goon.
30:35He's 8 of 14 from the floor tonight.
30:38And with Durant's struggles, they've needed every point from Shen Goon in this game just to stay within striking distance.
30:48And starting backcourt's got nine points.
30:51They're not getting much from their bench, only six points from their reserves.
30:55And that's what you worry about.
30:56Like, with Reed Shepard starting and Ahmed Thompson, they were 3 for 10 combined shooting.
31:06And both guys are telling me, like, we're still figuring it out.
31:11McDaniels driving.
31:12Nice move.
31:12And he gets it to fall off the window.
31:15McDaniels.
31:15He is talented on both ends of the floor.
31:1916 points for Jaden McDaniels.
31:22Shen Goon going behind the back.
31:25Working against Nas Reid.
31:26Gets into the lane and scores against him.
31:30He can back you down and get deep in the paint.
31:33And it's over.
31:35It may take 100 dribbles, but it's over.
31:3930 seconds to go in the corner.
31:43Randle spins.
31:44Met by Shen Goon.
31:46Randle hits the deck.
31:47Numbers for the Rockets.
31:53Smith for three.
31:54Hit it.
31:55Jabari Smith with a big-time triple to pull Houston within two.
31:59Boy, you know, he's needed that.
32:01Jabari Smith is seven for 12, two for five from three tonight.
32:08Six seconds to go in the corner.
32:10Randle with four.
32:13Gives it up with two.
32:14McDaniels can't get it at the fuzzle.
32:17And it's a two-point game with one quarter to play here in Minnesota.
32:22Dave Pasch.
32:23Alfred Shen Goon might take a couple dribbles to get himself to the cup.
32:28He's coming off a game where he's 16 for 19.
32:31He's equally efficient going to work against Nas.
32:34And then Jabari, big answer.
32:43Wednesday, presented by State Farm.
32:45We're here with Jaden McDaniels of the T-Wolves.
32:47When I spoke to your coach earlier, he gave you a ton of credit on the way you were defending
32:50Durant.
32:51What goes into an assignment like that tonight?
32:53Just being relentless and just having that pride and that aggression and not letting the man score on you and
32:59just competing, really.
33:00You're going into the fourth quarter with a lead.
33:02How do you close it out?
33:03Just got to make smart plays.
33:05Every possession counts now and just stay harder than ever.
33:07Jaden, good luck.
33:08Thank you.
33:09Thank you.
33:09Dave, DB.
33:10And meanwhile, Julius Randle bringing the house down with a slam and a Shen Goon foul, so a chance at
33:17a three-point play.
33:18Just great pocket pass by Bones Highland.
33:21And Julius is such a dynamic top-of-the-floor player.
33:26And that's at his best.
33:28He's at the rim to me.
33:30Four rebounds, four assists.
33:34Got a problem with the net.
33:35That's the reason for the delay.
33:44Randle, 13 points.
33:45That's his sixth field goal.
33:47He has five turnovers.
33:50A couple weeks ago, he had back-to-back 32-point games against Oklahoma City and Phoenix, but slumping sense.
33:59Not a full bounce back tonight, but playing better so far with 14 points.
34:04Lead is five for the Wolves.
34:06Opening minute of the fourth.
34:08Aaron Holliday, Shen Younowitz, wide of the third, blocked by Randle.
34:13Down court, Finney Smith collides with Highland and a loose ball foul on Bones Highland.
34:20Chris Finch puts his hands on his head.
34:24He's taking a look at the replay overhead.
34:28The pass was not great.
34:31This was a force because Dorian Finney-Smith.
34:37And this is going to be a coach's challenge by Chris Finch.
34:40Yeah, because it seemed like it's a loose ball, right?
34:42They both should have an opportunity.
34:45I don't know.
34:51Successful challenge, incidental contact.
34:55Both guys going for the ball.
35:00Possession, Houston.
35:01Right call.
35:03No question.
35:04I saw you saw the shock on Bones' face.
35:08Chris Finch had his hands on his head in disbelief, took a quick look, and decided to challenge.
35:14So, Chris Finch will get one more challenge.
35:16Ime Udoka used his challenge in the first half, and it was not successful.
35:23Minnesota by five.
35:24Largest lead for the Wolves was eight in the first half.
35:27Houston led briefly by two in the third quarter.
35:31Amen Thompson gets past DiVincenzo and smashes it.
35:35I like the call because Kevin Durant, obviously, not on the floor.
35:39So, a little misdirection out top, but the whole play is designed to get a man to his right hand
35:45with a little bit of momentum.
35:50Randall on the face up.
35:51Shot clock down to six.
35:54Spinning on Smith.
35:55In and out.
35:56Rebound, Shen Goon.
36:01Durant still on the bench here in the fourth quarter.
36:03Offensive foul as Reed is down.
36:09It's on Aaron Holiday, his first personal.
36:13He's pleading his case.
36:15He's coming up to set a screen, and it's the way he shapes his body, right?
36:21I mean, he gives him a shot right to the midsection.
36:25That doesn't look like a screen.
36:28Looks like he's attempting to, like, make a football block.
36:32It is pro day for a lot of guys today.
36:35Yeah.
36:36Shot clock inside of 10.
36:42DiVincenzo rejected by Thompson.
36:44And then DiVincenzo shoves Thompson.
36:48Don't know if Thompson was taunting or if his momentum just carried him into DiVincenzo,
36:52but DiVincenzo didn't like it.
36:56Just amend moves, different folks.
36:58This is a level of elite.
37:00You think he's got them beat, and he comes up with that left hand.
37:04And then, yeah, he might have had a word or two for him.
37:074.6 seconds to shoot.
37:11The second block for Thompson.
37:15Reed on the turnaround.
37:18As Reed having a terrific game.
37:21He's got 14 points and 10 rebounds.
37:23There's not a spot on the floor that Nas doesn't have a move or an answer or a shot.
37:30Entry to Thompson.
37:32Powers it up and in, plus a foul.
37:35Three-point chance for a man, Thompson.
37:39I mean, listen, does Nas push up into his path, or does he go straight vertical here?
37:46I don't blame him for the frustration because of the level of contact we've seen in the game.
37:52Right?
37:53Like, just buck it and go.
37:56I'm with you.
37:58It is the fourth on Reed, so both Reed and Gobert with four fouls.
38:02Thompson has four for Houston.
38:04Thompson with back-to-back field goals more than he had the entire game prior to this sequence.
38:09And then he converts the free throw.
38:11Houston's 15 of 15 at the line.
38:13But you can see they're not afraid to attack Nas.
38:15And the defense is much dicier without Rudy on the floor.
38:20Dave Vincenzo trying to shake.
38:22Goals a three.
38:24Dante, Dave Vincenzo has four triples in the game.
38:27Yeah, and I think that if a man had a word or two, Dante's feisty now.
38:32I don't think you want to talk smack to Dante, and there's a little frustration from him because he's given
38:37some contact.
38:39And Chris Finch telling Dante, be smart here.
38:42Look, you don't want anybody in the early boat.
