00:50Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Dele Sur Studios in Caracas,
00:55Venezuela. We begin with the news.
01:16In Palestine, at least six people, including a 13-year-old, were killed in a series of Israeli
01:21bombings that impacted various areas in the center and south of the Gaza Strip. According to local sources,
01:26aircraft of the Zionist regime bombed the tent sheltering displaced people in the center and
01:30south of the Strip, resulting in the death of five citizens in the city of Deir al-Bala and in
01:36the
01:36Nusirad camp. West of the city of Anjunis, a 13-year-old youth was fatally wounded inside his tent in
01:43Almawasi area. It should be noted that such incursions are taking place amid ongoing Israeli
01:48violations of the ceasefire that went into effect on October 11, 2025.
02:14Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arachid state that Iran does not intend to negotiate with the United States
02:20after U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington had proposed a 15-point peace plan. Let's listen.
02:31Iran. At present, our policy is the continuation of resistance and the continuation of defending the
02:39country. We do not intend to negotiate. So far, no negotiations have taken place and I believe our
02:47position is completely principled. I would like to say that sometimes messages being exchanged through
02:55friendly countries or through certain different individuals, this is neither called dialogue nor
03:00called negotiations. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched the 82nd wave of Operation True
03:08Promise 4 against Israeli and U.S. targets while sirens sounded in the border of Miskav M in the north
03:13of Israel. The Iranian offensive is part of the ongoing response to the joint aggression by Washington
03:19and Tel Aviv against the Persian nation. The military operation included the launching of missiles such
03:24as Ahmad, Qiyam, Qoram, Shar-4 and Mkadh. The Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement and the Islamic
03:30resistance in Iraq have also joined the front against the external aggressors, inflicting heavy blows.
03:37Precisely, the Iraqi resistance reported having carried out 23 operations against U.S. bases in its
03:42territory and across the Middle East region in the last 24 hours.
03:50For its part, the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah conducted 87 operations on Wednesday
03:55launching a new wave of retaliatory missiles against Israel in response to the escalation of
04:00Zionist attacks against Lebanon. The missiles launched by the Lebanese resistance struck Peta Tikva,
04:05Tekoa, and Rosh Hajin in central Israel. Hezbollah forces also carried out missile attacks on the
04:11Khratjot area north of Haifa. Hezbollah's artillery forces also launched a coordinated attack composed of
04:16over 100 rocket artillery projectiles at Israeli occupation military assembly points in the towns of
04:22Al-Khwaza and Al-Nakura, as well as in northern areas. These strikes are part of the resistance response
04:28operation to ongoing Israeli bombardments against civilians for displacement and demolition of homes.
04:39And the Iranian Health Ministry reported that the joint aggression by the United States and
04:44Israel caused damage to 190 medical centers and forced the closure of at least 12 hospitals.
04:49Authorities confirmed the death of civilians as the direct consequence of the bombings which hit
04:54residential areas and strategic points in the capital, Tehran, and other cities. The Deputy
04:59Minister of Health stated that despite the scale of the impacts, the supply of medicines and care
05:04for citizens remain uninterrupted through contingency plans. While civilian infrastructure suffers the
05:09repercussions of the conflict, the Iranian armed forces are maintaining a response targeting U.S.
05:15military bases in the region and strategic installations in the occupied territories.
05:23And in Lebanon, 1,094 people have been killed by Israel and 3,119 injured since the escalation
05:30of aggressions on March 2nd. Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health has reported a sharp surge in casualties
05:37following the renewed Israeli aggression after more than 15 months of continuous violations and
05:43attacks that disregarded the ceasefire. The Ministry stressed that the attacks have been
05:48indiscriminate with civilians bearing the overwhelming burden of the aggression as homes,
05:53neighborhoods, and essential infrastructure come under repeated bombardment. Moreover, a significant
05:58number of casualties have been shielded with at least 121 have been killed and 395 injured.
06:10After the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East,
06:14a marine traffic pileup has been reported in the Gulf of Oman as ship operators are waiting for a
06:19solution to the conflict rather than commit immediately to rerouting. According to the
06:24Maritime Intelligence Service Windward, there are 686 ships in the Gulf despite the Strait's closure,
06:29with 400 of those being in the Gulf of Oman. This buildup suggests that many operators have chosen to
06:35hold position outside Hormuz rather than commit immediately to long-haul rerouting. Furthermore,
06:40Windward reported that only 16 ships have crossed the Strait with their automatic identification
06:45system switched on between March 15th and March 22nd, while eight dark ships have been observed in
06:51the Strait with their AIS switched off.
07:01And, amid the fuel crisis caused by the Middle East conflict, the Philippines has suspended spot sales of
07:07electricity under a decree of National Energy Emergency to address the fallout from the war.
07:12According to the Energy Regulatory Commission, the suspension that aims to ensure fair distribution of
07:17critical supplies is expected to remain in effect until the conditions are suitable for the safe
07:22resumption of normal market operations. A modified pricing scheme that should be finalized by April 1st
07:28will be adopted as historical market prices no longer reflect current conditions marked by
07:34geopolitical tensions and fuel supply constraints. Let's recall that on Tuesday, Philippine President
07:41Fernand Marcos Jr. declared a year-long national emergency as fuel supplies begin to dwindle and
07:47prices spike amid the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran.
07:57And, Russian President Biden criticized on Wednesday Western double standards on Iran and Ukraine.
08:03During a meeting of the Council for Culture in Moscow, the Russian head of state claimed that
08:07Western leaders have signed all sorts of letters since the start of the current conflict with Kyiv,
08:13but not since the U.S. and Israeli attacks on Tehran. Let us recall that in the early hours of
08:19Saturday,
08:19February 28, Israel and the U.S. launched a joint attack on the Persian nation,
08:24stating that their aim was to eliminate the threats posed by the Islamic Republic.
08:27The bombings killed Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several other senior military figures.
08:32Now, Washington continues to threaten Iran with new airstrikes should it fail to accept its peace terms.
08:45We now have our first break coming up. Stay with us.
09:10Welcome back.
09:11Recently, the Post Attorney General of Honduras, Yoel Zelaya, personally filed a motion of
09:16unconstitutionality by way of exception with the Secretariat of the National Congress following his
09:20recent politically motivated removal. Previously, the National Congress had removed Zelaya following
09:26a political trial initiated last Monday over alleged manifest negligence. This decision was backed by four
09:32of the five legislative blocks under the leadership of Tomás Zambrano, who appointed Pablo Reyes to complete
09:38the constitutional term. Parliament asserts that Zelaya allegedly engaged in unconstitutional actions which
09:43undermined the autonomy of electoral bodies during the 2025 elections. Pablo Emilio Reyes Feodor is
09:50a lawyer whose career developed primarily in the private sector while linked to the Honduran far-right.
10:02And the Venezuelan minister of the Interior Justice, Zao Capello, has denounced that far-right extremist
10:08Maria Corrina Machado offered a multi-million dollar bribe to exploit the final of the World Baseball
10:13Classic for political gains.
10:18It turns out that from the moment we made it to the championship final, she didn't believe we would
10:23reach the final. That crazy woman Machado mobilized her entire lobby here in the United States
10:31and tried to bribe the organizers of the World Baseball Classic with around three million dollars
10:36players, so that they would allow her to throw the first pitch of the game between the United States
10:43and Venezuela. She knows this isn't a lie, that this is sticking to the alternator right where it is,
10:52because according to her calculations, that would be the best platform for promotion
10:57at a time when the real world is ignored.
11:02The Novo administration ordered the deportation of the director of the Ecuadorian Iranian Cultural
11:07Center, Sheikh Mohammed, a decision described by human rights organizations as a serious violation
11:11of due process. The deportation was based on a confidential report after Interior Minister
11:16John Reinberg stated on March 25th that there were international terrorist groups seeking to operate
11:21in the country. You are now hearing in Quito, the academic defense team complained of lacking access
11:26to specific charges, adding that by relying on a classified report, they were prevented from
11:31challenging the evidence and mounting a legitimate and transparent defense. Furthermore, organizations
11:36monitoring the case warned that the procedure sets a dangerous precedent arguing it violates
11:40constitutional guarantees and international treaties signed by Ecuador. In this context,
11:46Mohammed's defense team announced that it will appeal the decision and take the case to
11:49international forums, if necessary.
12:13The 30,000 people who went missing under the Sieg military dictatorship in Argentina that emerged after the
12:191976 coup d'etat are not just a number. They represent the constant struggle of their families
12:24and of millions of people demanding truth and justice, a struggle carried on by the mothers and grandmothers
12:29of Plaza de Mayo. Let's see.
12:34On April 30, 1977, in the midst of the dictatorship, a group of women gathered for the first time in
12:41Plaza de Mayo
12:41to demand answers for their missing children. The call to action came from Azucena Villaflor,
12:47who proposed that they unite so their voices will be heard.
12:51We can assure you that there are thousands and thousands of families suffering great pain, great
12:56anguish, great despair, pain and sadness because they won't tell us where our children are.
13:02We know nothing about them.
13:03Azucena Villaflor, the main driving force behind the group, was kidnapped in December 1977 and thrown
13:11alive into the sea during the flights of death. Her remains were identified in 2005.
13:17Ebeda Buonafini joined the patrols in May 1977, following the disappearance of her two sons and
13:23her daughter-in-law. In 1979, she was elected president of the Madres Association. Under her leadership,
13:29Radio AM 530, the Universidad Popular and the Nuestros Hijos Cultural Center in the former ESMA Higher School
13:35of Mechanics of the Navy were established. She passed away in 2022 and her ashes rest in Plaza de Mayo.
13:44The grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo formed in May 1977 to search for children who had been abducted
13:50along with their parents who were born in captivity and taken in by military families.
13:54They estimate that there were around 500. They served the creation of the National Genetic Database and
14:00succeeded in having the right to identity included in the United Nations Convention. Estela de Carlotto,
14:06its current president, was reunited with her grandson in 2014. By 2025, 140 grandsons and granddaughters
14:14have been located. The organization of mothers searches for their missing children,
14:20while grandmothers continue its search for their stolen grandchildren.
14:28Let's now take our second break. Don't go away.
14:52Welcome back. During an interview with Spanish political scientist and former politician Pablo Iglesias,
14:57Cuban President Miguel DĂaz-Gner reiterated the nation poses no threat to the United States.
15:02Denouncing the excuse hides a fear of the example Cuba sets for the rest of the world.
15:10We are not a threat to anyone for the reasons I've explained to you. Besides, this is a people with
15:16a
15:16spirit of solidarity and warmth. They welcome everyone who comes here with open arms. You're visiting Cuba
15:22today yourself, and if you walk into any neighborhood, you'll immediately find someone ready to share
15:27something with you, even their home, and to welcome you. They're decent people, they're a peaceful people.
15:35Therefore, no one believes that Cuba is a threat, as they say, unusual for the United States.
15:46So that cannot be the reason. We do not interfere in the life of the United States in any way.
15:54The only thing that might affect the United States and make them regard us with such anger is,
16:00first, their arrogant, hegemonic mindset of domination, and second, their fear of the Cuban example.
16:08And in Cuba, the first boat of Nuestra America flotilla arrived to Havana with solidity aid,
16:13including medical supplies for the William Soler Children's Hospital.
16:16His contact journalist, Gerardo Torres Zelaya, provides more details.
16:22The first boat of the flotilla convoy Nuestra America, the ship Grand Matu,
16:26arrived to Port La Havana on Tuesday, March 24, at 8 a.m.
16:31And after a short political act and the welcoming of the Cuban people,
16:35the crew almost immediately disembarked the 40 tons of food
16:39and took all the medical aid to the Children's Hospital William Soler in the Cuban capital.
16:46What it gives me, Greg, is strange to see the public services they provide here at this hospital,
16:52which are free for everyone. That's very important because it supports everyone's human right
16:58to access healthcare. And that doesn't exist in many countries. It doesn't exist in the United States.
17:05Daniel Herbert is an Australian citizen that was part of the Grand Matu
17:10and knows the importance of supporting the Cuban public health system
17:14that has suffered the consequences of the blockage imposed illegally from the United States.
17:23The situation of our country's current experience is very critical to the criminal
17:33policy of the United States government, which has led us 65 years and which under the new administration,
17:51has intensified the blockade against Cuba, particularly regarding fuel.
18:00The Grand Matu is one of many other boats that are bringing medical aid like catheters, medicines,
18:06tools and supplies. Michelle Castillo is a father of a five-year-old that has received several surgeries
18:12to treat her heart's condition. He appreciates the support brought by the Flotilla.
18:19Regarding the aid they brought from Mexico, they brought medicines, they brought catheters,
18:24what can you say about that?
18:29Very grateful. Because Cuba needs it. And not just me, all the parents, all the daughters, all the families.
18:40The medical aid, the food and the solar panel brought to Cuba by the Grand Matu are just drops
18:46in a sea of needs that Cuba has. But it's a concrete example on what a great difference can solidarity
18:52make for the life of people. It's urgent that the international community speaks out against
18:58the illegal blockage that is just another type of warfare against a peaceful country.
19:03To stop the blockage or to defeat it one ship at a time. Gerardo Torres Zelaya, Telesur.
19:11A Mexican president, Claudio Sheinbaum defended on Wednesday the continuation of Cuban medical
19:16cooperation in the country amid recent cancellations of similar programs under pressure from the Trump
19:21administration. The head of state noted the Cuban medical contingent's crucial role during the pandemic.
19:28Currently, Cuban professionals are filling vacancies in remote and rural areas where there is a shortage of
19:33Mexican medical personnel. Sheinbaum defended cooperation with Cuba, citing scientific and medical
19:38collaboration as well as treatments for patients with diabetic food and linked these to the principles
19:43of Mexican humanism. We have a very good agreement that also helps us a lot. That is a bilateral
19:56agreement that is very helpful for Mexico. We cannot forget that was Cuban doctors who came to help us
20:05during the pandemic. Under very difficult conditions. There was need for specialist doctors and those who
20:14came to help us were Cuban doctors. And on Wednesday, China reiterated its firm opposition to unilateral
20:26sanctions and the U.S. blockade against Cuba while emphasizing its support for the Caribbean nation.
20:30In this regard, Foreign Minister Spokesperson Nijan shared, for 60 years plus, the U.S. has imposed a full
20:38blockade and illicit sanctions on Cuba, wreaking havoc on people's lives. China firmly opposes these
20:44unilateral sanctions and firmly supports Cuba in pursuing the development path suited to their national
20:49conditions, safeguarding sovereignty and security, and opposing external interference. We urge the U.S. to
20:55immediately lift the blockade and sanctions and stop pressuring Cuba under any pretext.
21:07And the bioeconomic forum known as the Asian Davos has concluded in China. More than 60 countries
21:14sent leaders to discuss Asia's growth and its influence on the global economy. Our correspondent Bruno
21:18Falsi has the details. Greetings comrades from here, Beijing. I came to report that under the theme
21:28Forging a Chariot Future, New Dynamics, New Opportunities and New Cooperation, the annual conference of the Boao
21:38Economic Forum, held in the island province of Hainan, has concluded amid global economic uncertainty. For
21:48four days, the forum brought together nearly 2,000 participants for more than 60 countries around the
21:57globe. And for the 25 editions, counted with the presence of leaders such as Zhao Léjie and the Prime
22:05Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, reflecting the importance of the forum as a platform for international
22:14dialogue. A key statistically underscoring the meeting is that Asia represents approximately 48 percent of the
22:25global GDP and maintains a projected growth rate of around 4.5 percent. This is above the global average.
22:38The discussions focused on strengthening multilateralism, responding to geopolitical tensions and advancing in the energy transition, as well as innovation
22:51and the reconfiguration of global trade.
22:54The forum also warned about the impact of conflicts on economic stability, calling to prevention of fragmentation
23:03and the strengthening of international cooperation. In this context, the Boao Forum reaffirmed Asia's role as an economic engine and
23:15a key player in the search for a global solution.
23:19With this news, from here, the captain of China, we'll go back with you in the studios.
23:27On the topics in Bangladesh, at least 23 people have died and several others remained missing after a bus plunged
23:33into Padma River while attempting to get onto a transport ferry in the southwestern district of Rashburi.
23:39According to Fire Service and Civil Defense Department, the disease included 10 women and 2 children.
23:44The accident occurred at the Dowladya terminal when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which was carrying around 50
23:50passengers.
23:51In this scenario, Fire Service and Coast Guard divers continued their search for the missing people with military and police
23:57assistance.
23:58Most of the passengers were returning to their home in Dhaka after the 8 outfiteer holidays.
24:03The local government has called for an investigation to clarify the events.
24:12Like this, we have come to the end of this news rave. You can find more on our website at
24:15www.telesorenglish.net and also on our social media.
24:18For Telesor English, I'm Luis Alberto Matos. Thank you for watching.
